Chapter 6: looking for A job

Mum!! Mum!!!" Jaden-lee shouted at the top of his voice as he quickly called the doctors in.

" You all have to leave the ward now, while we stabilize her heart rate," the doctor said as everyone left the ward.

Outside the ward, Jaden-Lee quickly walked up to the man that had come with the bad news and held it down to his throat.

" How dare you do this and why now?" He asked, still holding him tighter, wanting to strangle him and wait for his punishment but then, it could only mean leaving his mum and sister to tend to themselves, which he wasn't going to do. He quickly and quietly freed the man.

" I'm sorry….. I was just carrying out orders" the man replied.

" Get out of my presence before I kill you" Jaden-Lee replied

" I was instructed to leave only when she had signed the papers.

"Come to think about that paper, don't you think that something is missing there?" Jaden-lee asked.

" Is it the share in inheritance? Well, your father refused to give her any bit of it and you guys can't even bring it up in court because there will be no lawyer to defend you, people. He had made sure that there wasn't for you guys and he had initially wanted to lock you up in jail for beating him, but then he reconsidered since he was also guilty of beating her up so this was the only way left to deal with you" the man replied.

" Who are you by the way and why will you be aiding someone in doing something evil like this?" Jaden-lee asked.

" Because I'm his subject and will forever be loyal," the man replied.

" You are simply stupid?!!!" Jaden-lee replied as he walked out on him.

Those papers earlier on were divorce papers. His father wants to divorce his mother as soon as possible or else, why will he ask that man to bring it while She's still at the hospital? And to stay here till she signs it. Does this mean that his father never loved his mother? Or else……. Where has the love gone?

It seems that he is having great fun doing all this to them.

Now that her mum has gone into cardiac arrest, this was what he was avoiding since and didn't let her know about what has been happening. Who knows what might I've happened if she knew the rest since just the divorce paper made her go unconscious.

He reached out for his phone and quickly called his father who had already been discharged from the hospital and was much better due to the medical experts who had been treating him.

"Why are you calling me? You probably want to ask for my forgiveness. Well, I doubt that I'll ever forgive you" his father said.

" Far from it Mr, I only called to ask you to tell that man you sent to go back home and come back later" Jaden-Lee replied.

" And why is that?" His father asked.

" Thanks to you and the divorce paper she had a relapse and went conscious and you know, an unconscious person cannot sign papers" Jaden-Lee replied.

" Hahaha….. So the papers gave her a shock?..... Hahaha…." His father replied as he ended the call.

A few seconds after the call ended the man left the hospital promising to come back later.

" Ruby, I'll be back in a while just stay here and look after mum after mum after the doctor finishes with her. I need to go somewhere urgently right now" Jaden-Lee told his sister who nodded in response.

She has already cried into a stupor by now.

And so, Jaden-Lee left the hospital in search of work.

They were barely feeding since the incident started and his savings were already going down by the day he was afraid that if he didn't find something to do, they might become beggars or even starve to death.

He had gone to his school the previous day and demanded they give him his educational certificate so that he could use it to look for a job as he explained to them the situation he was in right now.

He went from company to company seeking employment but each time they wanted to accept him and once they asked for his name and he told them, they would quickly reject him. These continued till he became so failed.

He later got to know that his father was behind it.

He has submitted his name to all the companies in the city and had asked them not to give him a job when he comes asking them for it.

"Your father is going too far. I wish I could help you lock him up in jail for all these things, '' Aaron-Jay said. He has been busy with his new work and had just come around today to visit his friend.

" How about your mother? I have to visit her one of these days" Aaron-Jay asked.

" I couldn't return to the hospital again to see her but when I called the doctor, he said that she has gone out of cardiac arrest and is now resting" Jaden-Lee replied.

" So Ruby slept at the hospital with your mum?" Aaron-Jay asked.

" Is there anything she does now or not?" Jaden-lee replied with a question.

" Hmmm…. I bet it hasn't been easy on her too. She must I've been blaming herself for everything.

" Yeah…." Jaden-Lee replied as he nodded to that.

" I have an idea, since it was only companies that your father submitted your name for rejection, why don't you try looking for a job somewhere else other than a company?" Aaron-Jay asked.

" Wow….. that's a great idea… I am appreciative of everything you've done for me" Jaden-Lee appreciated.

" It's nothing bro, after all, what are friends for?" Aaron-Jay asked.

"Probably for things like this right?" Jaden-lee asked as they both laughed.

" Let's go to a restaurant, I'll buy you drinks so you can cheer up a bit," Aaron-Jay said, dragging him out.
