Chapter 2: The escape plan

Elena’s POV

“Capella, please, I need to escape,” I begged, clinging to his hands.

Just a few minutes ago, the doctor had confirmed my pregnancy, I knew I had to act fast. The doctor had left to go call Capella. I told him about what the doctor told me and also begged him to help me.

“You know it won’t be easy Elena. If he finds out you’re trying to escape, he’ll kill you.”

“I know, I know…..but please, you have to help me. Marcus is dangerous, and I can’t protect myself or my baby alone.” Tears streamed down my face, and my voice cracked with desperation.

“Ok, I will see…..” his phone rang, interrupting from completing his words.

“yes sir… she just needs to rest… Okay, boss, we will get ready.” he hung up and turned to me. “Marcus is coming to pick you up, I will send you details later”. With that, he left, leaving me feeling both relieved and terrified.

As I lay on my hospital bed, closing my eyes I felt relieved about him accepting to help me, I placed my hand on my tummy, and tears ran down my eyes. “I promise to protect you, little one,” I whispered.

I never knew I slept off when I heard my door open, opening my eyes, I saw Marcus and was terrified he might beat me and harm my baby.

“We are going home, get up!” he said not caring how I feel

“O-ok” I was terrified to talk, I struggled to stand up from my bed, but I could still feel the effect of the punches. Trying to stand, I staggered.

“Common stop being pathetic!” He says with an irritating look,

“I’m sorry” Not wanting to anger him, I tried using force when I fell again so hard. I began sobbing for fear of being hurt again.

He walked up to me and carried me bridal style while telling me “You could have obeyed me and all this wouldn’t have happened Elena” We got to the car and drove off.

He dropped me at the door and drove off, not caring to help me get inside, I was trying to get in but couldn’t. One of his maids saw me and helped me to my room.

“Thank you so much” I muttered with pain. She nodded and left without saying a word.

I stood in front of my big mirror, undressed, and looked at myself, tears ran down my eyes, and all I could see was a broken me, scars all over my body caused by Marcus. Each scar on my body made me hate myself more, feeling worthless and lost in my thoughts.

I felt weak and pathetic, thinking about how I was hated by my father and stepmother, and more tears kept on dropping out of my eyes. I got into my bathtub and closed my eyes, feeling the warm water on my body.

I wrapped myself in a robe and blow-dried my hair when I saw a notification from Capella.

“Meet me tomorrow at the gym house by 8 AM,” reading his message made me feel kind of happy.

Marcus was not back yet and I felt relieved, I tried closing my eyes to sleep when I heard noises, and I stood up from my bed.

"Could it be Marcus?" Asking knowing fully well nobody will respond unless I go check out myself.

I walked gently to my door and opened it. I heard the voice of a woman moaning out so loudly in the hallway, I was shocked at what I saw, but surprisingly I didn't feel hurt. Marcus saw me and looked me right in the eyeball, not breaking eye contact as he kept on thrusting into the hoe he had brought home.

I quickly entered my room And locked the door, thinking of all the ways he had disrespected me.

"you're a monster, Marcus," I whispered to myself, feeling tears well up in my eyes. “just hate you! Wish I could just scream" I spoke with every anger and hate.

I lay down on my bed, unsure of when I would fall asleep, thinking of how I would escape for the sake of myself and my unborn baby.

"Woke up by my alarm, I quickly changed into my gym wear, in case Marcus asked about my whereabouts. My room was opposite Marcus', so I opened the door gently and sneaked downstairs to the gym, trying not to draw attention to myself. Getting there, I saw Capella training with an earbud.

"Good morning," I greeted, feeling anxious. He stopped what he was doing to give me his attention.

"Morning, you know what you're requesting is risky, but I will prepare for a flight to Italy. You'll have to change your identity so Marcus can't track you down." I paid attention to his every plan, my mind racing with the implications.

"But how am I going to leave the mansion? It's heavily guarded by his men." Escaping from this mansion seemed impossible.

"I already have all that figured out,” he said, his voice low and reassuring. "Make sure you pack the necessary things you need. We can't afford any mistakes." I nodded, feeling a sense of determination.

"I just hope everything works out,” I whispered to myself, feeling anxious about the idea. Marcus was ruthless, and if he found out I tried to escape, I was as good as dead.

"Let me run on the treadmill for an hour,” I said, trying to calm my nerves. Running always helped me clear my head, and that's exactly what I needed now.

We worked out for an hour, both of us sweating and panting, but I was panting more, having been out of practice for so long.

"Tomorrow, a car will come pick you up and take you to the airport," Capella said, giving me every detail of his plan. "The driver will give you some documents and cash in an envelope. You'll be safe once you're out of the country."

Just then, we heard a loud bang, and Marcus' voice boomed from the doorway. "What are you two talking about?" he asked, his eyes narrowing suspiciously.
