Her face became blank at that thought as she took every step downstairs, "this is our precious daughter, Mawra Hussain." her father introduced her to them with a cheerful tone. She lifted her head and met with the familiar pair of eyes, who was gawking at her with shock written all over his face.
Mawra's mouth opened wide in shock, making her to go speechless for a moment. Her heart skipped a beat as she imagined herself getting married with Ibrahim Qureshi, the famous CEO. What in the world?
"You." both Ibrahim and Mawra gasped at the same time in utter shock, with the kind of reaction they gave, both the sets of parents were shocked too.
"You guys know each other?" the mothers asked at the same time, while the fathers watched everything with curiosity.
Ahil and Ameen had their usual amused looks plastered on their faces widely, as they waited eagerly for some sort of drama to start. They kind of expected their siblings to have some cliche fight or something like that.
"He's my boss."
"She's my assistant." Ibrahim and Mawra whispered at the same time, still in shock. Their eyes were glued to each other's face. Clearly not expecting this sudden twist in their lives. The earth seemed to pause for them as they digested everything. But still, it felt so unreal.
"Wow?" Ahil and Ameen were the first one to react. This was way better than their imaginary fight.
"Good thing that you guys know each other already." Salika clapped her hands excitedly, Rashidha nodded her head with an eager smile.
"Since you both know each other very well. What do you guys think about this marriage proposal?" Salika asked eagerly, already planning the whole marriage in her mind.
"Can I talk with Mawra, alone?" Ibrahim asked a little hesitantly, his eyes didn't left hers the whole time, so were hers. Usman Qureshi passed him a knowing grin which he chose to ignore. His family was super dramatic, no jokes.
Mawra's eyes then widened at his sudden demand as she gave a helpless look to her mother, she was too shocked to react anything and this guy wants to talk with her alone it seems. What can that be? She wondered nervously.
This is definitely not how she has expected her day to be. But of course, life is full of surprises.
"Sure, the dining room is free now. You guys can go there and talk." Akram Hussain showed him the dining hall which was just beside the living hall, with no doors. Ibrahim was glad to have that much privacy at least.
He followed her into the dining room, whilst observing every move of hers. She looked very nervous, so opposite of what he knew about her so far.
"So?" Mawra whispered with a raised brows, trying to look as composed as possible while they sat opposite to each other in the dining table. From the corner of his eyes, Ibrahim could see their families looking their way subtly. Of course, what else can he expect from desi parents? Sighing inwardly he added, "so?"
"I had no idea that it was you." she began nervously, the whole idea of her mother trying to get her hitched with her boss made her want to flip. Is that supposed to be a joke?
"Me neither." Ibrahim chuckled, amused at her nervousness. He has always seen her as the confident woman and seeing her nervous like this was somewhat refreshing.
"What do you want to talk about?" Mawra managed to ask without any stuttering as he grinned at her, she gave him a confused look. Was this guy nuts? She wondered with a frown, but her heart continued to beat in an uneven pace. Clearly showing how nervous she was, from within.
"I wanted to say that, I'm ready to marry you." Ibrahim agreed without beating around the bushes, which made her go speechless for a second. She gaped at him in disbelief, did she hear it right or was she hallucinating? Or was he insane?
"You're what?"
"I'm ready to marry you, Mawra Hussain."
