Chapter 2

Zaera's Point of View

Hather drove us home. To this day I am restless because of what I heard. I ask Lovern to look for my mother while I'm still thinking about my decision. I am still estimating the consequences of my decision. I don't want to rush.

I'm sure your mom will get through it. She'll be okay" He held my hand to ease my feelings somehow.

I nodded. I would like to think that Mama will be fine but my mood is still not settled. I don't want to show them but I can't not see my mother. I don't want to regret it later.

I don't know" I simply answered.

I don't know what my decision will be. I turned to the backseat where Zian was sleeping soundly. I can't go back to the Philippines but I can't not visit my mother. He patted my shoulder. "Whatever you decide I'll be right here with you"

Third Person's Pov

Did you hear the news?"

News about what?"

Dude. Where is your brain going?"

I'm not in the mood to joke with you, Ephraim" Zero was really not in the mood after what his Grandfather told him the other day. He didn't know what to do.

Chill. I heard that Dionne Maldiviano is in the hospital. As far as I know it's a heart attack"

Zero immediately looked up after hearing this. He knew who he was talking about because he knew him well. Dionne Maldiviano is the mother of Zaera Everest Maldiviano. The woman who is the mother of his child whom he still hasn't seen.

He couldn't help but worry about her condition Still no update on how he is doing Zero leaned back on the recliner. He wanted to say hello to her but despite this, his mind was arguing. It doesn't want to show Zaera's family.

Zero quickly turned his gaze to his cousin. It got his attention. It is not impossible for Zaera to visit her mother but she is still not sure because she knows what happened five years ago. He sighed.

I don't know" It was a sluggish answer He is to blame for why Zaera and her parents cannot get along. He knew in himself that he was the reason for what happened. As he thought about it, he couldn't help but feel guilty.

Zaera chooses him over her family but he chooses to hurt her.

But if Zaera ever comes back, will you still take your child? He was stunned by his cousin's question. If he would have answered yes without hesitation, but now he doesn't know why he can't answer right away.

Someone's POV

Have you found him yet?" I asked him I looked at the setting sun. It's beautiful to look at, especially its reflection in the water Yes, Boss"

I returned to the car and opened the backseat. I picked up Zian who was still sleeping. Maybe tired from the trip Woah. He's so big. When he was just a baby" He commented. "I'll pick him up. I know you're tired too"

He took Zian in my arms. "Manang? Please help Zae with his luggage. Thank you" Lovern ordered Manang Eli.

We entered the house. I looked around the whole house. There is a slight change but it is still the same.

So, how about the Everlasting? Who did you leave to manage it?" She asked me while we were heading upstairs.

Hather is the one who was left there. He even wanted to accompany me back here, so I let him take care of that first" Because I have a business there in Spain. Everlasting is an industry of perfumes. Well, everlasting is popular in different countries especially here in the Philippines. There are lots of requests for me before coming from different CEO's here in the Philippines but I always ignored their offers. You already know what the reason is. But now, I couldn't avoid being stuck here again.

Gosh. You guys?" There was a teasing smile drawn on his lips so I frowned at him What 'kayo huh?'" I imitated his voice. We finally got inside the room. It put Zian down on the bed.

Nothing. I'm just being curious about you and Brother I sat on the bed then frowned at Zian. I kissed his forehead.

We're friends, Love. You don't have to be curious about anything" I laughed.

His face was serious. "But let me ask you something, Zae"

I turned my gaze to him. Waiting for her question. "How's the heart?"

How is my heart? I didn't answer for a long time and I just stared at him. II'm happy, Love" I replied with a smile then I stood up and approached the window and looked around.

I'm not asking if you're happy. I'm asking how is your heart"

I looked at him. I looked at it seriously. If you're asking about my feelings for Zero, that's gone. We're both happy. He has an Heiress and I have Zian"

He smiled. "Okay" He agreed. I know he's just stopping himself from arguing with me. How about Aunt Dionne? When are you going to visit her?"

The reason why I came back to the Philippines came to my mind. I thought about this decision for a long time. And I choose to come back. I don't want to bring Zian but I don't want to be separated from my son.

I don't even know how to approach them after everything. I don't seem to be able to face them especially Mama.

I will visit him at the hospital tomorrow" I simply answered.

Do you want me to accompany you?"

I shook my head. "No more, I want you to watch over Zian. I don't want to take him because we might cross paths with Zero. I know he already knows what happened about Mama"

And do you think he's going to see Aunt? I don't know. But I'm just being advanced. I'm not holding the flow of opportunity. There's a possibility of that happening"

I don't know but I suddenly felt my chest pounding. Just thinking that it was going to happen made me tense.

So, are you ready to face him?"

I held my breath. "I've been ready for the past five years, but as long as there is a possibility that I can prevent that thing from happening, that would be better"

I just sat on the bed and watched Zian who was still sleeping. Actually, I've been awake for a while now and I've gotten ready because today is the day I'm going to visit Mama. Mama?"

I turned my gaze to Zian when he called me. My prince is awake I'm here, Zi"

He sat on the bed and rubbed his eyes. It stared at me Are you going somewhere, Mom?"

His face lit up and he nodded. He kissed me on the cheek. This is actually what I like most about Zian. He doesn't force what he wants. I heard a knock. I turned there and saw that Lovern was peeking. Are you leaving, Zae?"

Yes. You will take care of Zian first"

He nodded and finally entered the room. I held both of Zian's shoulders and made him face me.

I'll go ahead, Zi. Be kind to Aunt"

He mama" He said energetically and nodded one after another. I kissed her cheek again. I stand.

He really looks like Zero" Lovern suddenly said so I widened my eyes. I was suddenly nervous.

It's a good thing that Zian doesn't understand tagalog very well because he only speaks English and Spanish.

Lovern" I commented. He covered his mouth and made a peace sign. She mouthed sorry.

I heave a deep sigh. "Alright, I'm leaving. Don't let Zi out" I warned.

He nodded. "This is the car key"

I accepted it. "I'm leaving. Bye, baby. Love you" I said goodbye to Zian with a smile.

I just nodded to what Lovern said. I immediately left the room and went down the stairs. I took a deep breath to calm myself down. I have to admit that I really miss them. I just don't know if they have forgiven me for what I did before. Third Person's Point of View

I thought, you're not going to see her mother? I'll just pass by"

Zero turned to his cousin. He also doesn't know why he is bothering to visit her in the hospital when he and Zaera are no longer there and also, they are not that close to her family.

He just nodded in response to his cousin. After it fixed itself, it immediately left.

After twenty minutes it arrived at the hospital. He parked the car in the hospital's parking space. He came out and went to the administration area to ask the receptionist.

Where is Dionne Maldiviano's room?"

How are you patients?"

I'm her........son-in-law"

He couldn't think of anything to answer the receptionist so that's what came out of his mouth. He just cursed in his mind Room 301, Sir"

It just nodded. Before it had gone far, it heard the conversation of the two nurses.

Maybe he's the wife of the woman who came here a while ago"

Zaera's Point of View

I was already outside the room where Mama was. I peeked inside and saw the two of them. I can't stop my tears. I miss them so much. I noticed a big change in both of them. I haven't seen them in years.

My grip on the fruit basket tightened. I hold back sobs. I wanted to hug them. I want to enter but there are a lot of 'what if's' in my mind. I saw Papa take Mama's hand and kiss it. I smiled.

They are still sweet. I was dreaming to have my own family like we had before. I used to wish that there would be a man who would love me like Papa. The love he gives to Mama. He gave his whole heart to Mama. It's not a superficial love just like what Zero has given to me.

Maybe I won't go inside anymore. It's enough for me to see that Mama is fine. I was about to turn my back when Mama diverted her gaze in my direction. I immediately wiped my cheek.

I turned quickly. I immediately walked away while my heart was pounding with nervousness.

Daughter, Zaera"

I was stunned to hear Papa's voice. I heard his footsteps coming closer to me Z-Zaera, you're here" I heard her voice break. "We miss you so much, why only now?"

I bit my bottom lip to stop myself from sobbing. I miss you so much. I want to say that but I can't speak. I stayed with my back to him.

Son, we are always waiting for you to come home. You have been missing for a long time, we looked for you but we couldn't find you" He added.

I still didn't say anything because I was crying. Son..."

I slowly turned to Papa. I saw her crying P-Papa..."

He immediately hugged me. I cried even more in his arms. We were in that position for a long time until I voluntarily let go I'm sorry..." I apologized for everything I did to them. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me for what I did to you before" I added.

That's okay, kid. The important thing is that you come back. It's been a long time. I'm sure mom will be happy when she sees you"
