CHAPTER 5_ Trouble

Kelvin walked out of the room where he met the old maid standing just next to the door. She bowed her head a little and stood in front of him.

“Arrange for new clothes for her. And also make sure she has her breakfast. Dr Sammy will be here shortly”

“Yes boss”

He walked past her heading down the stairs where an univited guest was said to have been waiting for him. It was no new thing that whatever he does doesn't miss the eyes and ears of his old man.

“Where is she?”

Kelvin placed both hands into his pants pockets as he approached the older man sitting on a sofa. A strange aura filling the room. Their pair of blue orbs met in an unfriendly way.

“I have no idea of what you're talking about” He responded in a dry tone.

The old man rose up to his feet with a sharp glare directed at his grandson. “You and I know very well what this is all about Kelvin! Jessica almost lost her life yesterday and you never showed up at the hospital. She lost the baby!”

Kelvin didn't act surprised at the news. Infact neither he or Jessica wanted the baby she had lost and he found absolutely no reason to be next to a woman carrying another man's child.

“I'm running late. Is there anything else you have to say?”

Elder Sinclair stepped forward in a threatening stance, his brows furrowed and his eyes slightly widened at the response he got.

“She's your fiancee! Your wedding is coming up soon and you're -

“I'm afraid there's not gonna be a wedding. Whatever deal you had with the Herring's has nothing to do with me. And also, you know how much I hate uninvited guests” Kelvin flashed a stiff smile at his grandfather before he stepped out of the living room.

Maya paced around the room in frustration. There was absolutely no way out of this room, there were guards stationed outside and she couldn't possibly jump out through the window because this was the second floor.

She might break a bone and die. The thought of dying terrified her.

“How do I reach Cameron? He must be so worried about me” She lamented taking a seat on the bed after a long while of pacing around.

There was a brief knock on the door which made her stand up to her feet in an instant. Maya tiptoed to the door and stood behind it. It opened afterwards.

She watched the maid from earlier step into the room with a tray in her hands. The maid placed the tray on the bed and scanned the room in search of Maya.

“She's gone!”

Immediately, the floor vibrated as a few numbers of the guards stationed outside rushed in at the maid's scream. Suddenly, they heard the door close behind them followed by a click.

Maya pounded the door with her fist. A victorious smile at the corner of her lips at her brilliant move.

“Serves you all right! That's what you get for locking me up in there! And also tell your boss that he should get a life! His arrogance won't take him anywhere!” She ran her fingers through her hair and turned around to leave.

But, a sudden collision with a body made her halt her step. She bumped her head hard on a chest and that was the moment she perceived the familiar cologne from a certain someone.

“Going somewhere?”

Maya swallowed. She raised her head slowly to meet his eyes which was filled with nothing but mockery. Her eyes darted around where nobody but them stood. His guards were all locked up inside the room and it gave her the next idea.

She made an attempt to run but was caught back effortlessly by Kelvin who already predicted her next move.

“Let me go! How long do you think you can keep me locked up?!”

Kelvin ignored her tantrums and swiped her off her feet taking her away with him. He didn't bother to open the door for his guards because they indeed deserved to be locked up in there.

If Maya could fool them that way, that means her chance of escaping just rose up from zero percent to fifty percent. If he hadn't gotten here on time, who knew how far she would have gone?

“Ah it hurts! Gently” Cameron complained moving back from the lady attending to his bruises. He looked really battered and was in a bad state.

Half of his face was covered with bruises and his eye bags turned purple due to a hit right on his eyes.

“You look awful right now Cameron. You need a doctor and also painkillers” Shelly murmured dabbing the cotton swab on a particular spot on his chin.

She dropped the bloody swab on the table next to a few others and faced him with a worried face. “Who did this to you? You look almost dead”

“Now isn't the time to remind me of all that Shelly! I'm in serious pains!” Cameron yelled and stood up to his feet only to wince in pain holding the side of his belly.

“Well..you're in my house and I demand to know what happened. It was almost impossible to get you a bail but I had to convince my dad to do so and you dare give me an attitude?”

A knock fell on the door gaining their attention, an older lady stepped in with a smile on her face but as soon as her eyes fell on Cameron she twitched her face into a worried look.

“Goodness! What happened to you Cameron? Did you get into a street fight?”

Cameron clenched his teeth in anger. How could he tell them that a fellow man like him inflicted these bruises on him? He'd surely lose face before them.

Kelvin Sinclair stopped at nothing to deal with him and after that, he sent him to the police station where he received more beatings. Thankfully, he didn't lose his life. And according to what he heard from a friend, Maya was currently with him.

Maya..

If only she had listened to him and did as he had said there wouldn't be any problems.

“Don't worry about it Mrs Garcia, I'll be fine in a couple of days”

Mrs Garcia arched a brow. She wanted more answers to her question but chose to give it up. Her brows furrowed in realization..

“Where is Maya?”

Maya looked up to Kelvin standing by her side next to the sofa she occupied, before her was a young doctor with his briefcase opened next to her. He was on a white coat while he wore a blue shirt underneath paired with black pants.

“Ma'am open your mouth” The doctor requested with a small smile. He held a little torch pointing it on her lips which she was yet to open.

Her hands folded over her chest while her neck turned to the other side.

“I'm not interested” She mouthed.

The doctor glanced at Kelvin with hopeful eyes. “Uh..Kelvin can you please do something?”

Kelvin sighed and leaned down a bit where he grabbed her by her chin and made her face him whether she wanted to or not.

“I want to make sure my baby is okay. This isn't about you, so get rid of your attitude and open your word hole!”

Maya didn't budge which left Kelvin with no other option than to press both sides of her chin. Her lips parted like a popped cherry.

“Make it quick Sammy”

The doctor pointed the torch into her mouth and eyes checking for God knows what and when he found whatever he was searching for, he turned off the torch and returned back to his briefcase.

“That will do for now..She’s good to go”

Maya pulled Kelvin's hand from her chin and brought it to her lips where she sank her teeth into it.

“Hey!” Sammy cautioned.

Kelvin retracted his hand from her hold. His eyes fell on his flesh where her teeth marks was visible.

“Have you lost your mind?!”

“Yes! I'll tell you for the last time Mr arrogant.. whatever you do, I will not keep this child. You certainly can't force me to do it!” Maya yelled at him.

Sammy closed his briefcase and cleared his throat tearing the awful tension building up in the atmosphere. It was certain that the two were crazy and he didn't want to witness what the other could do to the other.

“I'll take my leave now” he announced and left escorted by a guard.

Kelvin clenched and unclenched his left hand which she bit. Although he kept a straight face, the spot hurt a lot and was gradually turning deep red. “You sure have some nerves don't you?”

Maya snorted “And I'll keep doing this until I get to meet my husband! He must be so worried about my whereabouts and you still wouldn't let me leave?! I have rights too! I can choose to keep this baby or not!” She stood up panting slightly. Her eyes slightly red as she chose her next words.

“I don't want to be your captive. This was a mistake from the beginning-

“No child of mine can ever be a mistake! I don't care who the mother is as long as my little one is born!” Kelvin retorted equally infuriated.

The clinic made a mistake with the samples but his seed was never a mistake.

“That's for me to decide and not you! I want to meet my husband right now!” She demanded. Her body shook as she spoke.

A sinister smile played on Kelvin's lips. He held her by her hand “You want to meet your husband so bad right?! Then that's what you'll get!”

He pulled her along with him towards the stairs while she gave little protests along the way.

“The door is that way! Where are you taking me?!”
