My daughter vs my family.

Chapter 6.

My daughter vs my family.

GERALD'S POV.

I pushed the door of the ward open, and I saw her on the bed, sleeping peacefully with different needles stuck in her body.

A needle began to pick my heart, and it kept on hurting and bleeding, but the pain was not what mattered at that moment.

What mattered was the innocent girl on the bed who had been suffering because of me.

It was just a minor cold that led her to the hospital in the first place, then because she was not properly taken care of, it led to her bleeding and losing some blood.

I felt so selfish for donating my blood for her even after the test, which confirmed us having the same blood running in us. I didn't want to waste my blood for a pest.

I ignored all the advice of my doctor and paid for blood in the store, which brought up the rare disease in my child.

I moved to her bed with wobbled legs, What have I done? I had caused my daughter to suffer because I was selfish enough not to allow another person's child to live off me, not knowing she was my daughter.

I pulled the visitor's chair in the ward towards the bed and sat down with my hands holding my daughter's.

"I'm sorry, Jenny, I'm so sorry." I cried.

I was not scared of getting caught crying by the press because we were in a private ward.

I had told the doctor to always check on her privately, not to treat her, just check on her, and I wouldn't let my family know that I was suffering my daughter.

I turned to the doctor who had done inside with me, "Don't you say that I'm impotent? Why do I suddenly have a daughter now?" I encountered him.

"You must have gone to another hospital where your sperm was extracted and stolen. The woman who gave birth to your child must have drunk the sperm and gotten pregnant. You're just lucky to father your daughter." The doctor said to me.

I cringed and my eyes returned to the frail hand I was holding with my mind driving off to reverie.

I don't know whether to believe the doctor or not, though I know that I had visited numerous hospitals where I was tested and confirmed an impotent, but could an impotent be able to generate sperm?

Maybe I could, My mind told me.

I had been desperately looking for a child and I received a call from Hammer to go to a house which I went to, and I realized that when I got there, It looked as though I was expected because the guards in the house never stopped me from entering.

Hammer must know something about this! I thought.

He set me up to meet my real baby ma'am!

I jolted from my seat and stared at the kid lying there, then turned to the doctor. "Begin treatment on her immediately, nothing happens to her, and if anything comes up, make sure to call me," I instructed him.

"Okay, Mr O'Reillys."

I bent towards my daughter and pecked her forehead, "Don't worry, you will be fine, daddy will make sure of that." I whispered to her ears and pecked her again, feeling her heartbeat.

It was so faint that I almost felt like she had lost her life.

She'll be fine. I assured myself and pecked her for the third time.

I stood up straight and moved closer to the doctor, letting go of the little hand that caused me some emptiness when I let go.

It was like a part of me was gone and my palms turned cold.

"Fly in the best doctors all around the world and treat that girl, nothing must befall her, else your hospital would pay for it."

"I promise you Mr O'Reillys, we will do everything in our power to get her better." He replied to me, giving me his words.

I glanced at my girl, suddenly missing her and remembering how cool we were before she got sick. Everyone was envious of us.

Everyone was.

I patted his shoulder before picking myself up and walking out of the ward.

Immediately I stepped out, I picked out my phone and dialled Hammer's number.

"Oh! This is the first time_" I cut him off immediately.

"Where are you?"

"In the company. Why asking?"

"You've just been detected, don't you dare leave the company!" I warned him before walking out of the hospital and hanging up the call.

I went to my car and got in with a sigh, then a frown slowly crept on my face,

Damn you, Hammer!

"Take me to Hammer's company."

"Okay, boss."

I brought out my phone and called Stray, "How is it going with Elsey?"

"I've been trying to get through to her, but I could only get through to her PA, who kept on rejecting us."

"Then propose to them an offer they won't want to miss, think of something big to have them wrapped up, or I will be forced to conclude that your big head is a joke." I hung up the call immediately after I spoke my words.

I made sure the words were harsh enough to get into her skull.

Damn her too!

I relaxed in the car and sighed heavily, trying to take everything off my mind, but Jenny's sickness would not leave me be, and the fact that it was caused by me made everything worse.

I didn't like her that much before, but now, I love her. I love my daughter so much and she must survive.

My ringing phone brought me out of my thoughts and I picked up the phone to see the caller was my grandfather.

I accepted the call immediately, sitting right, "Come home now." He hung up after relating his words to me.

I stared dumbfounded at the phone in astonishment, "Did he just hang up on me?" I questioned, and a frown crept on my face.

I hated to be ignored or left hanging. I hated it so much, but I loved doing it for people.

"Boss, we're here." My driver announced and I stared out of the car to see Hammer's company.

Should I just ditch Grandpa's call to go deal with all those bitches? I was tempted.

But my inheritance was at stake.

Even though all had been signed down to me, it could still be claimed by my step-uncle, who was just three years older than me.

I hate him so much!

I hate that family.

The only thing I love about them was their wealth and I'm here to claim it COMPLETELY.

I relaxed on my seat with a defeated growl escaping from my lips, "Take me to the castle."

"Okay, boss."

He started the car and drove us off.

I closed my eyes and rested my head on the headrest and closed my eyes to shut out the long journey.

Be okay Jenny. You're my only gain in all these things.

We got to the castle and I alighted from the car to stare at the building I hated most in the world, especially in a moment like this when everyone in the family would be available.

I just pray that Darrell won't be around. I prayed before entering the castle.

I ignored all the greetings thrown my way by the castle's maids and guards and kept on moving nonstop.

I headed for the stairs and climbed them nonstop.

After climbing, I walked a few distance in the hallway and pushed a door open before coming face to face with the main sitting room.

I entered slowly into it and met all the family sitting down and waiting for me. Including Darrell.

Oh! How much I hate this moment!

I went to Grandpa, shook his outstretched hand, and squinched to his front, "Hi, Grandpa."

"Hi, grandson. How are you doing?" He questioned me.

"I'm very fine, what about you?" I replied to him with a smile.

I kind of liked him a little, he was very nice to me, but then I knew it was because of my uncle. My grandpa was nice to me to spite my uncle, who doesn't seem to care about shit.

"This old man is agile, I can still marry a younger wife." Grandpa joked.

I chuckled, "That's no lie."

I stood from him to my parents.

They were not my real parents. They adopted me when I was sixteen because my uncle, who was nineteen years old then, committed a crime and was given life imprisonment.

They needed someone to keep on the family legacy, and that was how I came in.

Nobody knows how my uncle managed to escape from prison that same year, and when he returned, he was mad to be easily replaced by an outsider, and he took me as an enemy.

Some years ago, he apologized to me, and everything was resolved, but I couldn't just bring myself to like him, not when the family kept on choosing me over him.

I bent down and hugged my parents, "I missed you." I whispered to them.

Deep down, I know I don't miss them. I would have loved us to be doing the family things at a longer distance.

"We missed you too, you should try to visit often." They replied to me.

"I will."

I disengaged from them and turned to my uncle. He had his eyes focused on his phone and if not because they were all expecting me to greet him, I wouldn't have bothered.

"Hey," I called him.

He raised his perfectly shaved brows at me and when his eyes found mine, his eyes broke into a smile.

His eyes were smiling, but his lips were tucked to a side in a smirk.

He stood up in his seat and moved closer to me, giving me the full view of his face.

His naturally blonde hair fell to his face, his blue eyes were sharper and more beautiful than mine, his small pointed nose, his red lips, sharp jaw and white skin.

He seemed so perfect and so alluring and that was why I hated him.

I felt like gay right now.

His chuckling brought me out of my thoughts, and I subconsciously touched the tip of my lips to know if I drooled, but thank goodness, I didn't.

"Hey, bro." He pulled me into a hug like we were even.

He patted my back before disengaging, "You have grown so manly."

I rolled my eyes. I know he was mocking me because he was well-developed in every aspect, unlike me, who looked like that teenager they adopted.

I love to hit the gym, but a day there made me realize that the place was not for me.

"Grandpa said I looked like him when he was younger."

Darrell chuckled, "If you said so."

He returned to his seat and sat down, getting busy with his phone again.

I went and took a seat beside him, wanting to pry in his life.

"Okay everyone, listen up." Grandpa began, "The Coopers have a celebration tomorrow, and I called this meeting to inform you that everyone should be there except me, of course."

"Sorry to cut in Dude, I won't be there." Darrell chipped in.

"And why's that?" Mom questioned him.

"Dear Sis, I will be out to work with my boss and I can't ditch her for a party that won't benefit me."

"There should be no argument, he's no more in the family," Grandpa said again.

"Dude!" That's what Darrell always calls Grandpa, "You're one funny man. You know I'm no more in the family, and you forced me to come here, ditching the comfy apartment given to me to attend your meeting. Oh please!"

He stood up and dropped his phone to face Grandpa, and that gave me the chance to peep into his phone.

I saw him viewing someone's profile, and that picture was so familiar that I picked up the phone to see it clearly, but it was snatched from me.

"Why prying, bro?" He walked away.

"Gerald," Dad called me and I stared at him like a chicken, my mind was not even on what he was saying, all I was thinking was,

Why will Darrell be staring at Elsey's picture?

Is he finding her attractive?

Or maybe he is one of her fans.

Interesting.
