“Dad, wake up already. You’ve been in coma for three months. I still have lots of questions for you and it is only you who can answer those.” Kaylee said as she held her father’s hand. It is her day-off and she decided to stay with her father.
“I miss you, dad. I will accept your anger and rage when you wake up, I will take in everything since it is my fault—I leave you and mom all alone without saying anything. But you know what, dad, for those three years that I’m not under you and mom’s protection, I learned so many things. I learned how to stand on my own feet, now, I have many published books.
I also heard from mom that you read my books, I didn’t believe her at first, to be honest, but when I saw my books with sticky notes full of your critics, I just can’t help not to cry. You really did read them even though they are mostly romantic-comedy. So, please wake up already so that you can continue reading my works.” She continues while sobbing. All her books were in their family library, it just shows how much her parents loves her.
“Wake up already so that we can catch up and so that you can answer my question why did you set me up with someone even though you know that Lohan is the only one I want to marry? Until now, I don’t even know my fiancée’s name. Mom is not answering my questions.” She sighs.
Every day and every night, she’s praying for her father to wake up. Her heart is breaking into two every time she sees her mother crying.
“Kaye,” Lohan, who just entered the room, called her. She quietly wiped her tears. “Let’s have our lunch.” She silently nods and went with him to the hospital’s cafeteria. They are both silent as they eat but Lohan is being attentive towards her. “Are you feeling better?” Lohan asks when they reached her father’s room.
“Sort of.” She answers and glance at her unconscious father. “It’s just that I can’t stand my seeing my father in that condition. Days and months go by but dad still has no improvement.” Lohan approaches and hugs her.
“Everything will be okay.” He said as he hugs her tighter. “Uncle is a fighter, sooner or later he will wake up. You know your dad, Kaye, he is not a quitter. All he wants is your happiness, didn’t he mentioned once that he will not leave this world until you found your happiness?” Lohan asks, making her cry harder.
She is a bit disappointed at herself, she should know better. Yes! She should believe that her father will wake up no matter how long it takes. She should be strong not just for her but for her mother. They have God in their side and he will not forsake them.
“Thank you, Lohan.” Kaylee thanked her friend when she calmed down; she is still wrap in his arms. His warmth gives her strength and hope. “Thank you for always being here for me.” She looks up at him and her eyes meets with him.
“I will always be here with you, Kaye.” Lohan softly said while staring at her eyes, and caresses Kaylee’s cheek. “Now that you are here, I will make sure that you will never leave me again.” He said gently kiss her lips. He felt her flinch but he still kisses her, he’s been waiting for this moment for years. He was so damn happy when his father told him that he will be engaged to Kaylee, but then she leaves them all of a sudden. He was so hurt, so wasted and broken, until her father told him that Kaylee didn’t know that it was him that she was engaged to.
According to Kaylee’s father, he didn’t tell her who her fiancée is because he wanted it to be a surprise but his plan backfired and he regretted it too much.
“Lo—Lohan?” Kaylee was dumbfounded, she doesn’t know what to say. “Y-you…” She can still feel his lips on hers.
“I’m sorry, Kaye, but I can’t control myself anymore.” Lohan said, and there’s no sign of remorse. Without saying anything, Kaylee went out of the room in a hurry. “Damn!” Lohan curses. “What the hell happened to me? How am I supposed to face her again?” He asks his self and takes a seat while cursing at his self.
“You’re a dumbass!” Phil curses at Lohan when he confided at him. It is their usual boy’s night out and it was only him and Phil who are present. Joshua and Rafael are at Baguio, while Jon is in the middle of solving his problem and Gabriel is busy with his case.
“It is natural that she will get angry, provided that she already has someone she loves.” Phil continued.
“I know that.” Lohan sigh. “I don’t know what happened to me, I was just so caught up in the moment that I couldn’t even control myself.” He continued. “I’ve been learning to do that for years, man!” He said and took a shot of whisky.
“But the problem is how will you face her tomorrow?” Phil asks, making him heave out a deep sigh.
“I don’t know, man, I honestly don’t have any idea.” He answers and took another shot.
“Maybe you could just start courting her. And tell her that you are her fiancée, she is after all your long-lost fiancée. Because if she fell for you and learned from others that you’re her fiancée, she might feel betrayed and assume that what you are feeling towards her were fake and that you’re only fulfilling your parents and her parents’ wishes.”
“You’re right.” He deeply sighs. “Thanks man! You’re a big help sometimes!” He said, smiling.
“Damn you!” Phil curses at him before drinking his beer.
“Where is Kaylee?” Lohan asks Bernard, who they are eyeing as the best next manager. Anytime, they can give him the position, he has what it takes to be the deserving manager.
“He is still not here, Sir.” Bernard answers. He checked his watch and frowns—Kaylee is running late and she’s never been late for work. He tried to call her earlier but she didn’t pick up her phone; his heart is filled with worry; he needs to see her now.
“I’m leaving things here in your hand, Bernard.” He seriously said, making the latter shock. Now is the right time to test him. “I’m counting on you, Bernard.” He said and leaves the restaurant.
He first went to Kaylee’s condo but she’s not there, next he went to the hospital, wondering if she’s there but to his dismay, only her mother is there. It was through her mother that he learned that Kaylee is on their house.
“Where is Kaylee?” Lohan asks the housemaid.
“She’s in her roo—” He didn’t let her finished and he went straight to her room despite the maid’s protest.
“Kaye!” He shouted as he opens the door.
“What?” Kaylee asks in annoyance as she is preparing for sleep.
“I’m sorry, ma’am, I can’t stop sir Lohan from entering your room.” The maid apologized.
“It’s okay, you may go and resume your work.” Kaylee said and climbs her bed. “And as for you, Lohan, come back later, I need some sleep. And close the door when you go out.” Kaylee said and closes her eyes. It just took a few minutes and she’s already in a deep sleep.
Lohan sighs and quietly closes the door. He took off his shoes and lied down beside her.
Kaylee woke up in shock when she opens her eyes and saw Lohan’s smiling face beside her. She’s about to get off her bed but Lohan wraps his arms around her, pulling her closer to him.
To be honest, she doesn’t know how to act in front of him after they shared a kiss in the hospital. She wanted to get it out of her mind by finishing her book but she failed to keep their kiss out of her mind, especially that she’s writing a fantasy-romance novel.
“Good evening, sleepy head.” Lohan said making her frown. “Before you ask, yes it’s already 7 o’clock in the evening.”
“I slept that long?” She asks, feeling unsure.
“It is because you stayed up until morning.” Lohan said. “And your editor called earlier, you are sound asleep so I answered it. It is about the novel you send him; he is so happy to inform you that everyone in the publishing house loves it. You did a job well done writing a fantasy-romance considering that it is your first time.”
“Thanks. The one I sent him is just a draft. I submitted it early so that I can revise it if needed.” She said yawning. “And why are you still here?” She asks. “I remember sending you away!”
“I didn’t go home. Watching you sleep made me sleepy.” He answers and places his head on her neck. “Oh! You smell sweet!” He said making her blush.
“W…what are you saying?” She asks, trying to push him but Lohan hugs her tightly. “Lohan!” She warns but Lohan stared at her.
“Kaylee, I love you.” Lohan confessed making her eyes grew wide.
“What are you trying to pull, Lohan?” She asked with mixed-emotions.
“I am confessing my love to you, Kaylee.” He said while looking at her lovingly and full of passion. “At the hospital, you asked me why I kissed you... I did it because I’ve been yearning to do that for how many years.”
“I must still be asleep.” Kaylee said closing her eyes and pinch her cheeks but she flinches in pain.
“Kaye!” Lohan stops her and caresses her cheeks. “You’re wide awake, okay, so, please, don’t hurt yourself.”
“B…but you keep saying weird things!” She said and push him away. She gets off of her bed and stands in front of the window. She blankly stares at the garden.
Lohan is indeed acting strange, and it may be because of his heart being broken. Maybe he thought of diverting his attention to other woman in order to forget about Amber. Unfortunately, the woman he chooses is her.
“I am not being weird, okay! I am just being true to myself!” Lohan said with frustration as he gets off the bed.
“Please, Lohan! Stop with your prank! This is insane!” Kaylee said, raising her voice.
“Why is it hard for you to believe that I love you?” Lohan asks in frustration.
“This whole thing, Lohan!” Kaylee turns around to face him. “The timing, the….” She took a deep sigh. “Everything seems impossible, Lohan.”
“Kaye!” Lohan sighs in defeat. “Okay, fine then! I will prove my love to you, Kaye, no matter how long it will take.”
“Lo—”
“I don’t need an answer to my confession, Kaye. But don’t pretend that it didn’t happen, because I will court you until you fall for me.” He said with determination.
