Chapter 6

“Hey!” Lohan greeted Kaylee as soon as he opens the door in her room. “Still not asleep?” He asks as he take a seat beside her. “Hmm? Working on a new story?”

“Here you are again just barging in my room without knocking, I should tell the guards and the maids not to let you enter the house!” Kaylee said frowning at him. “And yes, I am working on a new story. This time, I don’t know if it should be a happy ending or a sad one.” She answers his question and continued typing.

“It should be happy ending.” Lohan said.

“Not all stories end up happy, and besides I’m still thinking about it. There’s no guarantee what should happen towards the end.” She said as she types her last sentence before saving it. “So, what brings you here?” She asks glancing at him.

“Nothing much.”

“Are you not getting tired of me==of us? I mean, we see each other every day.” She asks while turning off her laptop.

“No, I will not get tired of you—never.” Lohan said and surprise her with a sudden hug.

“Lo—Lohan?”

“Let’s just stay like this for a while, we missed a lot of time. I was so shocked when you ran away, you suddenly cut ties with us. You even withdraw a large sum of money, so we can’t track you down.” He said. “You asked me why I keep coming here every night, it is because I miss you so much that I want to be with you as much as possible, I am afraid that you will suddenly ran away again.” He continued as he tightened his embrace. “I keep on looking for you, Kaye, I even went abroad just to find you.”

“I miss you too, Lohan. Every day, I kept thinking about you.” She softly whispered as she hugs him back.

“Then why did you leave us all behind then?” Lohan asks.

“I already told you the reason, Lohan.” She answers. “But this time, I will not leave, I’ll stay. I’ll be by your side whenever you need me.” She continues. Tomorrow, Lohan will meet the woman Rafael marries and he will surely be surprised; she promised herself that she will be there for Lohan. “I promise you that.”

“Lohan?” Kaylee worriedly called out to him. The celebration went on as planned, Rafael and Lohan’s friends were present and she had a long talk with Amber. “Are you okay?”

“Huh?” Lohan frowns. “Of course, why should I not be okay?” He asks, confusion is evident on his face making her puzzled. He should be sad that Amber married Rafael but why does he act like nothing happened.

“Amber got married to your friend?” She answers hesitantly.

“I know that Rafael will take good care of her, and besides who ever Amber marries has nothing to do with me.” He answers making her frown. “Well, if it was not Rafa who married Amber, I might run a background check on him.”

“But how about you?” She asks making him frown again.

“What about me?” He asks. “You know what, Kaye,” Lohan wraps his arms around her shoulders. “I think you need a good long sleep, you’re talking nonsense.”

“I’m not talking nonsense here!” Kaylee sulks. “How about your wedding? I heard your parents talking about it.” She asks, but Lohan just stared at her like he’s not believing what he’s hearing. “Lohan?”

Lohan just sighs and smiles at her. “You really have a creative mind.” He slightly pinched her nose. “Let’s talk about this whole marriage stuff when Uncle wakes up.” He said meaningfully.

“What does dad have anything to do with your wedding?” She asks, but Lohan just laugh it off, and that laugh is fake one.

“Go back to work, Kaye.” He ordered. “Even though we’re friends, there is no special treatment here.”

“Yes, yes.” She rolled her eyes and went back to work.

While doing her job, she can’t brush off what Lohan told her that they will talk about his marriage when her dad is awake; and there’s only one thing that comes to her mind. It’s either it has something to do with Amber or her, and she wants to believe the latter option but then is it really okay? Is it okay to hope for something that it was never been hers in the beginning? For three whole years, she tried to date other guys but Lohan never once left her heart. She always compared them to Lohan that’s why she eventually gave up in finding love.

“Kaye, do you actually know from the start that Amber married Rafa?” Lohan suddenly asks her making her flinch in her seat; Lohan is the one driving. They are on their way to the hospital to visit her father.

“What are you talking about?” She asks. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I was actually quite shocked myself when I saw them together earlier.” She reasoned out.

“Your face doesn’t say so, Kaye.” Lohan said, she took a quick glance at him and she cannot read his face—she doesn’t know if he’s angry or not. “You don’t have to hide it, from the start, I already know that you’re hiding something from me.”

“I’m sorry.” She apologized. “I just don’t really know how to tell you.” She explained.

“And I know that you will get hurt that’s why I kept mum as much as possible.” She thought.

“Don’t be sorry, before Rafael told me, dad already called to inform me about it. It was dad who married them. He really is surprised to see Amber there and he controlled his self not to talk to her.” Lohan said making her surprise. “And Amber is hiding something from Rafa, and even if the marriage is for convenience, I know that Rafa will take good care of her.”

“I agree. I saw how he takes good care of her and how his eyes never left her.” She noticed that wherever Amber is, Rafael’s eyes follow her and it somewhat made her happy. She just hopes that everything will go well with Amber, after all, she’s her friend. If only Amber can find the strength to tell Rafael where will she use the huge sum of money, because even if they come to an agreement that they will try to make their marriage work when they’re hiding something from each other, the marriage will not work out nor be happy.

If only she can just lend Amber the amount of money she needs… oh great! Why didn’t she think of that at first? She sighs at the thought.

“Are you okay?” Lohan asks.

“Yeah, I’m just worried about Amber, if only she could just tell Rafael everything.” She sighs.

“Don’t worry. I know Rafael, she will be safe with him.”
