CHAPTER 7-BETHANY

CHAPTER 7- BETHANY

It had been a day since the incident had taken place. I couldn't help but ponder over the what-ifs. What if the stranger had not shown up? Today, being Sunday, I preferred to stay indoors and take care of myself and my apartment. I gently placed my head on my belly, feeling a sense of comfort and warmth as I confirmed that I was indeed pregnant. Although my stomach was still flat, I could sense that something was growing inside me, and my heart was filled with an inexplicable joy.

With a smile on my face, I gazed down at my stomach and spoke with conviction, "I promise you that you will have the best life, even if your daddy doesn't know about you." Despite my lack of experience in raising a child and my unpreparedness for the journey ahead, I was determined to give it my all. I knew that it wouldn't be easy, but I was ready to take on the challenge and do everything in my power to provide the best life possible for my child.

I switched on the speaker and cranked up the volume, filling the apartment with upbeat music as I began my cleaning routine. I started by wiping down the tables and sweeping the floors, then moved on to scrubbing the bathroom tiles. As I paused to catch my breath and glance at my reflection in the mirror, I couldn't help but notice that the golden flecks in my eyes seemed to be more pronounced than usual. It was an odd observation, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was due to my pregnancy and the crazy hormones that came with it.

I had just finished cleaning my apartment and was feeling satisfied with my work. I gathered the trash and headed towards the bin. When I got back to my apartment, I noticed two men standing near my door. One of them was a complete stranger, but the other one I recognized immediately. It was the man who had gotten me pregnant.

My heart raced as I approached him, feeling a mix of anger and shock. "You!" I exclaimed, my voice shaking. "What are you doing here? And how did you find me?"

He didn't respond to me, but he tilted his head to the side, revealing his strong and sharp jawline. It was evident that he was enjoying my discomfort. I couldn't believe the audacity of this man. And to make matters worse, I found myself admiring him.

"Answer me right now, or I'll call the cops," I demanded.

"I'd love to see you try," he retorted.

"You don't need to do that," the other man said simultaneously.

"And who are you?" I asked the other man.

"I'm Chester," he replied. His friend was also very attractive and seemed friendly.

"Can we come in and talk?" His voice was deep and confident, but there was a hint of uncertainty in his tone.

I shook my head firmly and replied, "No, you cannot." My voice was steady, but there was a hint of annoyance in my tone. "And teach your friend some manners when you leave. Who leaves a woman after they have had sex with her?"

The man cocked his head again. The nerve of this man! He was really arrogant.

I faced him, my voice laced with anger and confusion, 'In what way did I show that I was a cheap woman that you thought to do that?'

He didn't respond, but instead, pushed open the door to my apartment and strode in. I stood there, stunned, as Chester gave me a small smile and followed him inside.

Their presence made my small apartment feel cramped and cluttered. I had just spent hours cleaning the place, but they didn't even bother to take off their shoes. The audacity of this man was starting to grate on my nerves.

As the man took a seat, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. "I will ask again. What are you doing here? And how did you find me?" I said, trying to maintain a calm demeanour. "And I didn't say you could sit," I added, hoping to assert some control over the situation.

He looked at me with an intensity that made me stop talking. What was that?

"I kept tabs on you," he replied, his voice low and measured. So he talks, huh? Wait, what? My mind raced as I tried to make sense of what was happening.

"You did what?" I asked, my voice rising in alarm. Was he a psychopath? Was I in danger? I immediately placed my hand on my stomach as if to protect my little one. The man's eyes followed the movements of my hand.

"What my boss was trying to say is that we have come to explain something very important to you," Chester said, stepping in to diffuse the tension.

"Then your boss can talk with his mouth. You aren't a mouthpiece," I retorted, squinting my eyes at his 'boss'. I wasn't about to let my guard down just yet.

He raised a brow at me, clearly taken aback by my boldness. Really? In my own home?

"What is your name, 'boss'?" I asked, determined to get some answers.

"Ryder," he said, his voice steady and unwavering.

"Hmm, so Ryder, what is it that you want to tell me?" I asked, trying to keep my tone even. Chester seemed surprised for a moment when I called him Ryder. What was going on here?

He leaned back and crossed his legs before starting to speak in a serious tone, “I am not human.”

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Okay, I have confirmed it. He really is crazy, but I let him continue just for laughs.

“I am a werewolf, and I know you are with child,” he continued.

How did he know I was pregnant? Was Claudia in on this? And who the hell says ‘With child?’

“That is why we have come to take you to where you would be safer and where the pup will grow normally,” he concluded.

I looked at the two men, Ryder and Chester. They had serious expressions on their faces. I couldn't tell if they were joking or not. I burst out laughing, thinking it was all a prank.

But then I noticed the grave expressions on their faces, and my laughter subsided. These men were serious. So I decided to play along.

“So if you guys are werewolves, I must be a cat then,” I said as I made my way to my kitchen. “Do you care for some tea?” I asked.

“This is a really serious matter,” Chester said.

I looked at him and then burst out laughing again. “Okay, okay, I get that you want me to like you badly, but this is going overboard,” I said as I handed him two cups of tea. “When you are done with the tea, you can leave. I won't disturb you with matters of child support,” I said.

They looked at me weirdly before Ryder stood up and came to stand in front of me.

“I will prove it,” he said. “And when I do, you will know you are also carrying a werewolf pup inside of you,” he added.

“Don't call my child that,” I said.

“The pup is as much of my child as it is yours,” he retorted.

“I said don't call my child a pup,” I said, irritation and anger lacing my tone.

He bared his teeth at me, and his eyes flashed gold. What? Was my mind playing tricks on me?

I moved back a step because I suddenly felt scared. Chester stepped in again.

“Just stand outside your balcony at night for your proof, but after that, we have to take you with us,” he said.

“No. If it is true, then we will discuss it like adults. You should leave now. I'll look out the balcony at night,” I said, just wanting them to leave.

I couldn't believe what had just happened. Those men had come into my home, claiming to be werewolves and telling me that I was carrying a werewolf pup inside of me. It was absurd, and yet, there was something about the way they spoke that made me wonder if they were telling the truth.

As I sat down on my bed, I couldn't help but think about what they had said. Was it possible that I was carrying a werewolf pup? I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. No, it was ridiculous. Werewolves didn't exist, and even if they did, there was no way I could be carrying one of their pups.

I decided to distract myself by doing my self-care as I had planned before they disrupted my plans, what crazy punks. I took a long, relaxing bath and then put on some comfortable clothes. As I was about to start my skincare routine, I heard a knock on my door.

I hesitated for a moment before making my way to the door. I looked through the peephole and saw that it was the stranger that saved me the other night. Oh, what was he doing here? I thought as I opened the door.

“Hello” I said, trying to show my gratitude through my tone.

“Can I come in?” he said, his voice crisp and formal.

“Yeah, sure,” I said. “Do you need something?” I asked.

“No, actually, I was sent to check up on you,” he said.

I raised an eyebrow. “Check up on me? Why? And more importantly, who sent you?”

“Alpha Ryder,” he said.

“Ryder sent you to check up on me?” I asked to confirm.

“Yes”, he said.

Then it clicked.

“You were the one spying on me, weren't you?” I said, starting to feel annoyed.

“It is protocol for the safety of the Royal pup and its mother” he said.

I looked at him blankly before shaking my head. “I don't need you to take care of me. I can take care of myself.”

“I know you can,” he said. “But I was ordered to be here. I may lose my job.”

I sighed. “Fine. Come in.”

He followed me into the living room, and I sat down on the couch. He sat down on the armchair across from me, and I couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable.

“So, what do you want?” I asked, looking at him.

“I was sent to explain everything to you,” he said. “About what we are and why we're here since I saved you, and you may listen to me.”

I nodded, gesturing for him to continue.

“We're werewolves,” he said. “And I've been sent to protect you and your pup before you go to Dreador.”

“You mean my child?” I asked, feeling my anger rise again.

“Yes, child,” he said. “The werewolf pup that you're carrying.”

I shook my head. “I'm not carrying a werewolf pup. That's ridiculous.”

“Is it?” he asked, baring his teeth and showing me two elongated fangs. Woah, those were canines a minute ago.

I gasped, feeling a sudden surge of fear. “What the hell was that?” I asked, looking at him.

“That was me showing you that we're telling the truth,” he said. “And that you're carrying a werewolf pup.”

I shook my head. “I don't believe you.”

“You will,” he said. “Just wait until tonight.”

“Then what?” I asked, feeling a little apprehensive.

“We'll show you,” he said. “Just be ready.”

With that, he got up and left my apartment but stood outside the door. Great, now I have my personal security detail. I sat there for a few minutes, trying to process what had just happened all over again. Werewolves? A werewolf pup? It was all so crazy.

As the day went on, I couldn't help but feel a little nervous. What were they going to show me tonight? And what if they were right? What if I really was carrying a werewolf pup?

As the sun began to set, I made my way to my balcony. I looked out at the city, feeling a little anxious. What was going to happen?

And then I saw them. Ryder and Chester changing to animals right in front of me. I almost choked on my scream. They turned to wolves! And I took a step back and looked at them. There was a large scary black wolf and a smaller brown one standing next to it. The black one seemed to stare right into my soul. I guessed that one was Ryder.

Suddenly, I heard a howl. It was loud and eerie, and it sent shivers down my spine. It was coming from them, and then they changed back to humans right there, naked might I add. I let out a gasp.

I couldn't believe it. It was all so surreal. The last thing I saw before falling to the ground was two naked men, sorry werewolves.
