CHAPTER 6
UNKNOWN POV
The bright light of the full moon in Blood Moon Pack illuminates the path as a shadowy figure sprints along the border, her breaths coming out in short, ragged gasps. She has to be careful, stealthy, and quick, or she might end up getting caught by the guards patrolling the area.
As she approaches the entrance of a cave, she comes to a sudden halt and snaps her fingers twice, producing a strange sound. A massive stone blocking the entrance rolls back, revealing a hidden entrance. The figure takes a deep breath and steps inside the cave, the sound of her footsteps echoing through the narrow passageway.
With a sly grin on her face, she lowers her hood, revealing a beautiful face adorned with sharp cheekbones and piercing green eyes. She knows that she's taking a big risk by entering the rogue pack's territory, but she has to do this for her people.
As she entered, she asked, "Can you show me where Damon is?" The room was filled with people who sat around large fires, talking and laughing. However, the fear in their eyes was evident, for the rogue pack had been forced to move twice that month. They were afraid of being discovered and captured. They yearned for the freedom to be themselves and do as they pleased, but before that could happen, they had to take down the Blood Moon Pack and their stupid Alpha King.
As she was led by a guard to meet Damon, the leader of the rogue pack, she couldn't help but notice the commotion around her. The pack was busy creating weapons, sharpening their claws and teeth, and forging silver blades to use against their enemies. Approaching closer, she saw that they had captured some witches and were forcing them to handle silver, which was lethal to werewolves. The sight brought a wicked smile to her face, as she knew that the pack was taking no chances in their quest for dominance.
She watched as the witches worked tirelessly, their hands shaking with fear as they handled the silver, knowing that one wrong move could mean their death. The pack members were ruthless, with no mercy for anyone who stood in their way. As she walked through the camp, she saw the fear in the eyes of the captives and the determination in the eyes of the pack members.
The leader, Damon, stood tall and confident, his eyes locked on hers as she approached. She could feel his power radiating from him, and she knew that he was not to be trifled with. He greeted her with a nod, acknowledging her presence, and she could feel the tension in the air.
Despite the danger, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. There was something about the pack's determination and ruthlessness that was captivating, and she couldn't wait to see what they were capable of. She knew that she had to tread carefully, but she was willing to take the risk.
“Ah, Red, you're here” Damon said as she walked towards him. Red was the nickname he gave her after finding her in her own blood the day he saved her, and since that day, she swore her loyalty to him.
"Yes, Damon and I have news," she replied with a grave expression on her face.
"Tell me," he replied, showing his clear interest in what she had to say.
"The Alpha King has an heir by a human," she said, pausing for a second to let the words sink in. "This development poses a significant threat to us, so we need to act fast," she continued, looking at him intently. "We should eliminate the human. Another Alpha King being born could cause trouble for us."
"I see," he said, nodding thoughtfully. "We can't let anything jeopardise our plan, especially not a human," he added, his voice firm and determined. "I will send one of our best assassins to take care of her. Since she's human, it shouldn't be too difficult," he concluded.
"Great. I have every confidence in your abilities to take care of this," she said, visibly relieved. "Now, I must go back before someone notices my absence," she added as she turned around and left the room hurriedly.
Upon her departure, he summoned one of his most skilled assassins and issued a command.
************
ALPHA RYDER
"What?!" I bellowed as my informant reported what had happened to me. The news was not good. Someone knew about the human and my pup, and that could only mean trouble. They would continue to attack her until they got her if I didn't act fast. I should have listened to Mother and brought her here.
I mind-linked Chester and Duscha, my two most trusted pack members, and asked them to meet me on the patio. Chester arrived first, his eyes scanning the surrounding area before landing on me.
"Alpha," he acknowledged with a bow.
"Ches, I need you to accompany me to the human realm to get the human that is with child for me and bring her here. We shall leave tomorrow, but before then, tighten the security around her apartment," I instructed, my tone grave.
"Yes, Alpha," he said before rushing off to carry out my orders.
I turned to Duscha, who was standing patiently by my side. "Prepare everything for the arrival of the human. You will be in charge of her well being”
“Yes, Alpha”, she replied with a nod.
When I got to the Royal pack house, I say Mother and she looked at me with a look that read that she was right and I was wrong. I ignored her and made my way to my private chambers.
As I entered my private chambers, I could feel the weight of the responsibility I had brought upon myself. It was my duty to protect my unborn pup and the human now, and I knew that I would stop at nothing to ensure that they were safe and secure.
I paced back and forth in my chambers, trying to think of ways to protect the little pup. I considered the possibility that the threat might come from within the pack, but I quickly dismissed that idea. Our pack was a close-knit community, and I trusted my fellow wolves to do the right thing.
Still, the thought of an external threat lingered in my mind. Who could be so bold as to threaten what was mine? And how many others knew about this? I needed to find out and fast.
I decided to contact my trusted allies in other packs. I sent out a flurry of messages via mind-link, asking them to keep an ear to the ground and let me know if they heard anything that could be of use. I also made sure to remind them of our longstanding alliances and the importance of keeping our shared interests protected.
As I waited for their responses, I could not help but feel a sense of unease. The safety of the unborn pup and its mother was my top priority, and I knew that I would need to be extra vigilant in the coming days and weeks.
Just then, Chester, my most trusted advisor, best friend and Gamma, contacted me with an update. He had carried out my orders and had put all necessary measures in place to ensure the safety of the human. I felt a sense of relief wash over me, knowing that I could count on him to carry out my wishes.
With the situation under control for the time being, I decided to take a deep breath and try to relax. But I could not shake the feeling that there was more to this than met the eye. I knew that I would need to stay alert and be ready to act at a moment's notice. After all, the safety of the little pup was my responsibility, and I would do everything in my power to protect them.
Once she has delivered my pup, I plan to send her back to the human realm where she belongs, and I will compensate her financially for her services. I was surprised to learn that she didn't accept the money I left for her after we had sex. Isn't that how most humans are? A small amount of money can make them do anything.
I knew that I needed to do something to clear my head and let my wolf run free. There was nothing like the feeling of the wind in my fur and the ground beneath my paws to remind me of who I was and what I was capable of.
As the Alpha King, I had many responsibilities, and I had been feeling the weight of them even more since ruling alone without a Luna by my side. It was a lonely existence, but I had to stay strong for my pack. The moon goddess had blessed me with wisdom and incredible strength, and I wouldn't let my pack or myself down by sulking.
I headed out to the forest, where I knew I could run as far and as fast as I wanted without worrying about anyone else. I found a secluded spot and stripped off my shirt before shifting into my wolf form. The transformation was always exhilarating, and I felt my muscles ripple and my senses sharpen as I became one with my wolf.
My wolf was eager to run, and I didn't hesitate to take off at a sprint. The trees blurred past me as I ran, my wolf's satisfaction growing with every step. We ran and ran, the wind in my fur and the ground pounding beneath my paws. I lost track of time as we ran, and it felt like hours before we finally returned home.
As I shifted back to my human form, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. My wolf was satisfied, and so was I. I knew that I could face whatever challenges lay ahead with renewed strength and determination.
As I made my way down the stairs, the aroma of freshly cooked food wafted through my nostrils, and I knew that May, the chef of the Royal pack house, was in the kitchen preparing dinner. My mother always loved to lend a helping hand to May, and the two of them together made a formidable team in the kitchen. May had been cooking for our family for years, and she had become an integral part of our lives. Her culinary skills were exceptional, and her dishes never failed to tantalise our taste buds.
May was a human who had fallen in love with a wolf, and unfortunately, her wolf had passed away. Despite the loss, May had decided to stay in Dreador and continue cooking for our family. She had a kind and warm demeanour, and we had grown to love her like family.
As I entered the kitchen, May and my mother greeted me simultaneously, "Alpha" and "Son." I nodded in acknowledgment and took a seat at the kitchen table.
"May, prepare a menu that would be good for a human with child," I said, trying my best to sound as polite as possible.
"Yes, Alpha," May replied in her usual cheerful tone, "Is there anything in particular that she likes?"
How would I know that? I didn't even know her name. She was a fling that had turned into a mistake.
"No, prepare whatever human food you humans usually enjoy," I said before leaving the kitchen and making my way back to my private chambers.
As I sat on my bed, I couldn't help but think about the woman who was carrying my child. I knew that I had to do the right thing and take responsibility for my actions. I hope the moon goddess will give me strength to face whatever is coming my way when this human arrives. I also really needed to find out who was behind her attack.
