Chapter 5 The Phoenix

Due to the extreme heat, their locks were broken. The canister was the one her father entrusted her.

Due to her weak body and poor strength, it took her a couple of hours to bring everything inside the cave. When suddenly, she heard a scary loud sound.

Shrieeeeeeeeeek!

She was scared to death when she heard it. But still... Out of curiosity, she carefully peeked outside to see.

Wow! what a beautiful red big bird, also a mutated bird? Oh, some fresh wounds. Was it the one who injured the Roc?

Exactly! Every territory has an overlord. When the red bird reached the area, it fought the Roc in order to own the place. After the Roc had been defeated, it chose death rather than submitting...

So it was badly injured by the other one. When it can no longer endure the pain, it flew swiftly to escape and hit the helicopter due to the fact that its eyes were cut.

When the big bird was already far away, Ceres also moved out going to the spring for her to freshen up and drink some water.

Afterward, Ceres has already finished everything there is to be done, she went back to the cave, ate some grilled meat and checked all of her carried stuff from earlier.

From the first bag, she believed that it was owned by the other guy...

She saw a dagger, a gun, five bullet boxes, family photos, five pairs of men's clothing, protein bars, and books of mutated animals and plants, world history, and basic knowledge about fighting and shooting.

She suddenly opened the book about mutated animals and plants to first look at what kind of beast was she able to see earlier.

Hmmm, beautiful big bird and red feathers... Oh here, phoenix.

Phoenix, one of the mighty mutated birds. They have the ability to produce fire all over their body, it was due to some combustible gasses that they can emit and bioelectricity that is enough to produce some sparks.

They are strong, fast and intelligent.

What a powerful big bird... I have to avoid it no matter what, or it will surely eat me.

The next one that she checked was the book about world history and read it.

Ten thousand years ago, due to human overpopulation, the world met its end. Because of various types of pollution, it greatly harmed the ozone layer creating the greenhouse effect.

The heat from the sun became unbearable as time passed by and the world always experiencing extreme weather.

Later on, the heat melted all ice from Antarctica and drowned most of the lands across the globe...

And due to clashes of cold waters and the hot surface of lands from each country, almost 80% of the volcanoes around the world became active, tectonic plates were all a mess and suddenly they erupted.

Even those 20% were affected.

Humans were able to survive, some went to Mars, some stayed on the moon, some took shelter with some huge modified satellites, and some even stayed on earth by the use of extremely thick gigantic submarines.

They also brought species of animals and plants with them.

While they were outside the earth...

Science advanced even further at a very fast pace in order for people to survive. And even people who chose to stay on earth had adapted somehow.

100 years, 200 years... 500 years, the earth became a planet of darkness as viewed from the outside.

600 years, 700 years... 1,000 years, the earth became an ice-white planet.

1,500 years, 2,000 years... 2,500 years, the earth slowly beginning to build bodies of water. From the outside, people are now seeing some blues.

3,000 years, 4,000 years... 5,000 years, some browns are appearing which are various soil formations.

6,000 years, 7,000 years... 8,000 years, some green colors were already visible.

9,000 years... Some went back to earth to see if the environment was already good for people to live one again...

They were disappointed for it was still not the case but, they discovered new species of weird animals and plants, and brought some back to study.

1,000 years later... It was the 10,000th-year after the apocalypse, people realized that the earth once again can already be inhabited by humans.

People freed all of the animals they were raising all these millenniums that passed. The earth seemed to be expanded over half of its previous size, there are now 10 continents.
