ELYSIA'S POV
After the school bell rang, I stepped out of the building and scanned the crowd for Uncle Adrian. I spotted him leaning against his car, his face lighting up with excitement as he saw me.
"Hey, Elly!" he greeted, his eyes sparkling. "Guess what? I've made your absolute favorite dinner tonight. Let's head home and feast!"
" Feast!... Common uncle"i laughed
" Okayyy... Ms. Elly, let's go and home and eat" he chuckled
"Sounds great, Uncle Adrian," I replied, trying to match his enthusiasm.
The ride home was filled with chatter about random things, but I couldn't bring myself to talk about Damien. It felt too personal, too real. But as soon as we stepped into our house and the delicious aroma of my favorite dishes hit my nostrils, I felt the atmosphere change.
"Go shower and come back to eat," Uncle Adrian instructed, barely able to contain his excitement.
After a refreshing shower, I joined Uncle Adrian at the dining table. He looked at me expectantly, his plate untouched.
"So, how was school today, Elly?" he asked, his fork hovering over his plate.
"Nothing much," I replied, shrugging. "Nothing fun, really."
"No, no, no! You can't just say that," Uncle Adrian protested. "Gist me and stop starving me!"
"Okay... For real, nothing fun happened , except something crazy" I smiled
" Something crazy!... Please lady Elly I'm all ears" my uncle said. Sometimes my uncle's energy is unmatched, he acts like my best friend, my boyfriend, my daddy , my mummy , he acts like everything a girl would always ask for , my aunty was so lucky .
"Okay, okay," I said, rolling my eyes playfully. "I met a guy."
His eyes widened, and he leaned forward, eager to hear more. " You met a guy...Go on," he urged.
I took a deep breath and started telling him about Damien. As I reached the part where he tried to kiss me, Uncle Adrian's face went from thrilled to shocked. That was perfect description for his reaction at the moment
"He tried to do what..isn't he a tour guide?" he exclaimed, his fork clattering onto his plate.
"Calm down, Uncle," I said, feeling a little embarrassed. "I refused, but now I feel bad for rejecting him."
Uncle Adrian looked at me thoughtfully, his expression unreadable. "Is someone in love?" he teased.
"No, no, no! I'm not..." I stammered, my cheeks heating up. "I don't feel bad because he didn't kiss me. I feel bad for making him feel bad, you know? I care about people's feelings," I explained, trying to make sense of my own emotions.
Uncle Adrian hummed thoughtfully. "Just be careful, Elly. Not all humans are trustworthy."
I looked at Uncle Adrian and reminded him, "But you know, Mom was human, and Dad was a demon."
He sighed and nodded. "Yes, I remember. But you must always remember to be cautious, especially when it comes to matters of the heart."
After Uncle Adrian's wise words about being cautious with humans, there was a brief silence. I felt like I should continue the conversation, but I wasn't sure how to broach the topic. Finally, I remembered something that had been on my mind.
"Uncle, are you going to remarry?" I blurted out, trying to sound casual.
Uncle Adrian looked shocked by my question. He hesitated for a moment before reluctantly replying, "I can't stand anybody maltreating you."
I looked at Uncle Adrian and said, "Nobody is going to maltreat me... I trust your gut. You would pick a better wife"
He sighed deeply, his eyes filled with emotion. "I don't think anyone can replace Lilura's love in my heart. And for now, let's just stick to me and you. Our growth and development are all that matters. Finding a wife is the least of my worries now. I have you."
I stared at Uncle Adrian, my eyes filled with a mixture of love and sadness. "You have me, but not forever."
He looked at me in amusement. "Where are you going to?"
I scoffed and replied, "Won't I get married, Uncle?"
"Let that come," he said, trying to change the subject.
I could tell he was avoiding the topic because he was worried about how a new wife might feel about our close relationship. "I know you're feeling like if you get a wife, she might not want me to live with you. But trust me, I understand."
Uncle Adrian looked at me, his expression softening. "Can we drop this topic and eat our meal in peace?" he asked, his voice firm but gentle.
I nodded, realizing I had pushed the topic too far. "Of course, Uncle. I'm sorry for bringing it up."
We continued our meal in silence, but the atmosphere was no longer as light and cheerful as before. I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness, knowing that things would inevitably change between us. But for now, I decided to cherish the time we had together and focus on enjoying our meal.
As we finished eating, I looked at Uncle Adrian and smiled. "Thanks for the delicious meal, Uncle. It was amazing."
He smiled back, the tension from earlier dissipating. "You're welcome, Elly. I'm glad you enjoyed it."
We cleaned up the dishes together, and as I helped Uncle Adrian, I couldn't help but feel grateful for our close bond. Despite the challenges we faced and the uncertainties of the future, I knew that Uncle Adrian would always be there for me, just as I would always be there for him.
As I headed to my room to start my homework, I felt a renewed sense of determination. I was determined to make the most of my time with Uncle Adrian and cherish every moment we had together. Because even though the future was uncertain, one thing was clear: our love for each other was unbreakable.
____AT SEBASTIAN'S MANSION____
DAMIEN'S POV
I paced around my room, feeling restless and agitated. I couldn't shake off the image of Elysia from my mind. Her beautiful eyes, her radiant smile – everything about her was mesmerizing. I finally decided to confide in my mom. She always knew how to calm me down and offer the best advice.
"Mom, I messed up," I blurted
" You tried to kiss her... Common Dam I thought you know better"
" Mom... Elysia is so beautiful"
She looked up from her book, her face filled with concern. ". Well..if you ask for my opinion..That's not a mess-up, Damien. It's an opportunity for change and how to prove yourself to her, I know she's probably thinking of it right now"
" Is she? " I said as I smiled
" Of course she is , I'm sure about that"
"But I feel so bad ... It happened so fast, I didn't even know how it happened"
.I understand how you feel right now" she said as she looked at me and continued and I'm surprised because I've never seen you talk about a girl like this before."she said smiling
" Someone is in love" she teased
I took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Mom, I love her," I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper. "I couldn't resist. I've never felt this way about any lady."
My mom smiled warmly and put her arm around me, pulling me close. "Apologize to her tomorrow and tell her how you feel," she advised. "Honesty is always the best policy, Damien."
"Thank you, Mom," I said, feeling grateful for her support.
She gave me a peck on my forehead, covered me with a blanket, and left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling, lost in a whirlwind of emotions. Elysia had managed to turn my world upside down in the span of a day. I couldn't help but wonder, "Elysia, what have you done to me?"
As I drifted off to sleep, the image of Elysia's smile was the last thing on my mind, filling me with a sense of warmth and hope for the future.
