Just after returning home from abroad, my parents and my brother surrounded me, asking how I was doing over there.
"Sarah, get used to being home for a few days. Next week, you'll transfer to the school your dad sponsors. By the way, the neighbor boy you used to say you wanted to marry goes there too," my mom said, holding my hand.
Hearing this, my face immediately turned red. "Mom! Don't say that!"
My dad's face darkened instantly. "I can't bear to see my daughter getting married so early." How could he bear to see his precious daughter taken away?
"Hey, Sarah, tomorrow I'll give you a Rolls-Royce. You can drive it to school and make quite an impression!"
I shook my head and politely declined. "No, thanks, Dad. I'll just have Uncle Carter take me."
Back then, I was too ostentatious and earned the nickname "snob", which led to me being ostracized by the whole school.
"Sarah, what do you want to eat? I will cook it for you myself."
Just as my mom was about to get up, my dad pressed her back down. "Hey, honey, let Mrs. Dawson handle these small things." My brother and I both made a sound of agreement.
"Nathan, aren't you filming today?" I nestled into my brother's arms. I'd always been close to him since we were kids.
Nathan patted my head. "I postponed the shoot to come back and see you."
I nodded and snuggled in his arms. He had a familiar scent that I felt I had smelled somewhere before, but I couldn't recall where.
