Chapter 9: Manuel's Pv

Lately, I've been very tired. I rarely leave the house and let my son Enrique manage the family affairs. If I still cling to this life, it is because my men have not yet accomplished the mission that I have entrusted to them for nearly ten years.

I wanted to find my daughter, my little Maria. I blamed myself so much for all the hurt she suffered because of me. In our organization, the family was at the forefront. If our personal interests threatened the interests of the family for a while, then we gave up. Maria knew it, but she betrayed us anyway. She chose a stranger to her family, and it was seen as a betrayal. To punish her, I locked her in the basement of our house with about thirty men to fuck her. I just wanted to punish her, I wanted her to come to her senses and forget about this man who could jeopardize our family. I didn't think that by acting like this my little hija would run away from me without thinking of her mother or even her big brother with whom she was so complicit.

This morning, when I didn't find her in her room after her punishment, I knew she had run away. I put my men after her, but she was already far away. Angry, I put a price on his head. If I decided to do business in this part of the world, it was for her, to find her.

I admit that at first I wanted revenge. But ever since I knew I could die overnight, finding her as a girl and not a traitor was my priority.

“Hello Abuelo”.

I hear the voice of Juan my grandson. This little one is my pride. His father wanted him to study and not meddle in our dirty business as he likes to say, but this little one does as he pleases. Three days ago he came to see me because he wanted to be the one to negotiate with the Armenians who were known as strict men. I was afraid he would screw everything up, but he delivered.

- Mi hijo how are you? Shouldn't you be in class?

Juan: Yes, but I don't want to. Abuelo, could you ask dad not to make me go there?

Enrique: I want to talk to you, father.

- Where did your good manners go? I didn't hear you wish me buenos dias.

Enrique: I found out you were looking for Maria, so I decided to do my research. Juan, leave us with dad.

- No, the little one has grown up now, it is not necessary to hide things from him. Tell me what you found out about Maria. Where is she ?

Enrique: I did what your broken-arm incompetents haven't been able to do all this time. I found Maria but...

- But what?

Enrique: There is good news and bad news.

- Start with the right one. (I couldn't hold on so much I was impatient)

Enrique: The good news is that Maria has a daughter, her name is Nora McAllister, that's her in the pictures. The bad news is that Maria has been dead for almost ten years. Maria's husband, the one with whom she had her little one, is the same man for whom she left the family. He was also a "SHARP EYE" agent and one of the men who put a stop to the progress of Kovalski's business in New York. In a word, if the Cabrals exist in this country, it is thanks to the help of Maria's husband and his friend.

- My little Maria, mi Dios what did I do? I want Maria's leftovers. I want her to rest next to her mother. Where is my little girl? I want to see her.

Enrique: Dad, that's another bad news. Nora has recently been missing. No one knows where she is or with whom.

- Mi hijo, mobilize all the necessary men, but I want to see my little Nora here. See how she looks like her mother? How has his life been all this time? I want to know everything about her.

Enrique: She lived with Mike McAllister, the other man who helped hold Kovalski back. He is her guardian and I do not know why she bears his name rather than that of her father.

My little Juan takes the photos in my hand and his eyes widen. I see his reaction and I hurry to ask him if he knows her.

Juan: Abuelo if that girl in the picture is my prima then I think we're in trouble.

- What's going on?

Juan: I know where she is.

- Speak, do you want to kill me or something stupido.

Juan: Kovalski has it.

Enrique: Mierda, are you sure?

Juan: He has it in Russia. She is his new toy.

- He knew it, that's why he took it. He wanted to reach me and he succeeded.

Enrique: I think that girl is in danger. His father and guardian limited Kovalski's activities in this country, and his mother's family appropriated part of his empire. Dad, we have to save her. You owe it to Maria, and also to mama

Juan: I think Nora knows about us. She knows us and if she didn't come, it's because she hates us.

- What do you know?

Juan: She's always been on the defensive when it comes to me. And when I approached her in this bar, she earlier preferred Kovalski to me. And she used to tell me she was stupid because she got it from her mother's family. I think if she's always opposed me, it's because of you.

- Where do you know her from?

Juan: We are in the same faculty. Tell me Abuelo, what did you do to Aunt Maria to make Nora hate us so much.

- Get out of here, get out. And find me this McAllister, I have scores to settle with him.

Juan: Damn, nobody dares to tell me what happened to tia Maria? If my prima is with a madman today, it's your fault. You don't know what this man is capable of. You've never seen him go after an enemy, but I have. She's in grave danger if Kovalski really knows she's connected to us.

I feel my strength leaving me, it's hard to breathe, I'm suffocating. The pain in my rib cage prevents me from hearing what is going on around me. I press my chest without being able to stop this pain. My vision blurs and is pitch black.
