On the second day, the clock struck noon and a sweet scent filled the air, enveloping them and taking them to cloud nine. They kissed slowly, exchanging long, intoxicating breaths that left them both breathless. Carina could taste his breath, which was so close to her own. They explored each other's bodies and she enjoyed opening her mouth against his, feeling his moans roll into her mouth like warm candy. They murmured their approval and pleasure before heading to the bedroom.
Damian whispered, "You're the only woman I've ever loved," as he pressed his mouth to her neck and tasted her. Carina sighed with pleasure as he peeled away her dress and explored her body, delighting in her softness and warmth. She told him that she couldn't live without him and that her life had no meaning without him. Damian felt guilty about leaving, knowing that she truly loved him.
Carina breathed in the scent of his skin, which was rich and musky, and loved the feel of his hair against her palm. She enjoyed the deepening of his breath as he became more aroused. Damian kissed her again and trailed kisses down to her breast, where he filled her nipple with his mouth. Carina arched into him and cried out with pleasure as he sucked on her nipple.
"So beautiful," Damian murmured, cupping her breasts and lifting them to his mouth.
Carina squeezed her eyes shut as he continued to fondle her breasts. She arched her back, wanting him to increase the contact of his mouth on her breast, which he did. She stood on tiptoe, the pleasure she was receiving from him was intense.
Damian's hands roamed everywhere, molding and caressing her body. Carina moaned against his mouth as he ran his hand up the back of her thigh and then around to the front. She moaned louder as he found her.
Damian removed his clothes and carefully laid on top of her as she lay on the bed. Carina reached between his legs and wrapped her fingers around him. He thrust into her, and she anchored herself to the real world of passion that spun her to the ozone and beyond. He thrust again, gently, and she dug her fingernails into his back. He thrust more, and she caught his mouth.
Her hips wobbled as Damian began to push faster and faster. Carina wished to freeze this moment in time. She loved the scent that reminded her of the music box he gave her the other day, and she loved the lovemaking.

Time marched on into the evening, and they had returned to the riverside. Excitement filled Carina's heart as she sat on the sand, enjoying the cool weather. Damian had brought a Scrabble game with him.
"I bet you're going to lose at this game," Damian said.
"You sound confident," Carina replied.
They drew their tile letters, and Damian said with a grin, "Ladies first." He picked the letter "A" and assumed she would do the same.
"No, I insist you go first," Carina said after checking that the letter she had picked was "Z."
"Okay, I'll go first," Damian said.
Carina was shocked as he played all his first seven words. Instantly, she knew the game would be the most challenging Scrabble game she had ever played. It was her turn to play, and she also needed her words to form a complete seven-letter word. She arranged and rearranged until she played the word 'JAZZILY.'
Damian was taken by surprise seeing the seven-letter word she played. The game got tougher and more intense as they battled with words, each wanting to defeat the other with a high score.
The game drew to an end as Carina calculated their scores with her phone. She calculated their score again for accuracy and still saw the same score: they both scored 360.
Damian looked at the sun, the tip of which looked so close that it seemed if he stretched his hands, he could touch it. Too many clouds in the sky played with it, and it rose even more majestically. "The sun looks beautiful today," he said.
"Yes, it does. I just love sitting here with you and watching it," Carina replied.
Moments later, Damian's lips parted in a smile as he spotted a conch shell in the river. He had been told since childhood that a conch shell is found in the sea, and he couldn't believe what his eyes saw. He remembered the sweet sounds it made when he was little.
Without wasting much time, he showed Carina the conch shell. "I used to blow this when I was little," Damian said.
"I also used to blow it. The shell was interesting and pretty and a worthy plaything."
"Are you thinking the same thing I am thinking?"
Carina smiled. They thought of plucking the shell from the river. Near Damian's elbow, a palm sapling leaned out over the lagoon. The weight was already putting a lump in the poor soil, and soon it would fall. He tore out the stem and began to poke around in the water. Damian used one hand as a fulcrum and pressed down with the other until the shell rose, dripping, and he could grab it.
Carina took the shell from Damian, and a little water ran down her arm. The shell was deep cream. It was a seventeen-inch shell with a slight spiral twist covered with an embossed pattern. Carina shook the sand out of the deep tube.
Carina laid the small end of the shell against her mouth and blew. There came a rushing sound from its mouth, but nothing more.
Damian said, "Give it to me, I'll make it sound better."
Carina tried again, but the shell remained silent, so she gave it to him.
"Now, watch me work my magic," Damian said.
Carina smiled, as he had surprised her before, and she wouldn't be surprised if he could make the shell sound better. She watched as he pursed his lips and blew air into the shell, and the sound it emitted made her laugh.
"Trust me, I can make it sound great," Damian said.
"Okay, I trust you," Carina replied, smiling.
Damian hit the shell with air from his diaphragm, and immediately it emitted a deep, harsh note that spread out through the riverside and the woods. Carina burst out laughing, and Damian held her waist and drew her closer to him. He thought, 'I always want to see you smile, even when I'm gone.'
Their eyes met, and Damian planted a kiss on her lips. He kissed her with tears rolling from his eyes, for their kiss might be the last kiss.

The night weather came with a great chill, and they had run out of wood, so they hurried down to the woods to fetch some wood to build a fire and keep their bodies warm.
"Are you sure you want to take that?" Carina asked, referring to the wood Damian had cut down. The wood was damp and rotten, full of insects that scurried.
"It's dark already, and we are cold. This shouldn't matter," Damian replied.
"You're right," Carina said, directing her torchlight to other woods, seeing that the woods they had cut down were also highly infested.
They continued working with great energy and cheerfulness, building a pyramid of leaves, twigs, branches, and logs. Soon there was a ceiling of smoke and a bush of yellow flame. Carina's phone played romantic songs, and they made love. Carina made love with the only man who had ever made her happy. This one was different, their bodies connected like nothing before, and when he said the words "I love you," they caught one another's cries of pleasure, their bodies grew slick with sweat, unbearably hot with the act of love.
After their lovemaking, Damian wrapped his hands around her and said, "Warm enough?"
"Mmm-hmm," Carina replied sleepily. "Perfect," she continued, "I would love to wake up and still be wrapped in your embrace."

Carina woke up, seeing he wasn't beside her. She called his name, walked around, and felt that he was far away from her. She smiled and soliloquized, "He must be planning another surprise for me." She gazed at the horizon and saw the most spectacular sunset she'd ever seen. Brilliant pinks and lavenders, fiery reds and oranges, a hint of gold, transformed the sky into an artist's canvas. She sighed and thought, 'How could nature be capable of such an incredible feat now that Damian isn't here with me?' She waited for him, missing him, aching for him. Every second passed with thoughts of him, and her mind raced down to their lovemaking and the romantic moments they spent together. For hours, Carina didn't see him, even after calling him a thousand times. She went back to the hotel he had booked and asked, "Do you know where the customer in room 360 is?"
The receptionist checked her book and said, "I'm sorry, he checked out a few hours ago."
Carina's face filled with a sudden burst of mixed feelings of sadness, hurt, anger, and frustration. "Checked out? What are you saying?" she asked.
The receptionist replied, "Yes, Damian Michael. He left with his luggage."
Carina screamed, "No!" Tears welled up in her eyes as she stormed out of the reception hall. She continued to cry as she walked, blurring her vision. "Damian...!!!" she screamed even louder, not realizing she was in the middle of the road. Suddenly, a car came at her with great speed. The driver didn't stop and drove off. Carina realized Damian had left her. She whispered his name with a cough of blood, "Damian."
