Cheryl POV
I opened my eyes.
I groaned and sat up, observing the room.
Shit! I slept in Asher's bedroom.
I looked beside me; he was still fast asleep.
As I tried to leave the bed, he woke up.
"Good morning," he said.
I just nodded, stood up, and left his room.
I entered my room, bathed, and got dressed.
I heard a knock on my door. I opened it.
"Come down for breakfast," Cecilia said.
"I would like to have it in my bedroom."
She raised a brow. "Everyone in this house must eat at the dining table."
"Excuse me?"
"You can't refuse to eat either."
"How dare you tell me what to do? You're just a maid."
She smiled. "I've been in this house longer than you will ever know, and between me and you," she chuckled, "you're the least important. Go to the dining room. The Master of the house will be there, so don't delay!" she said and was about to walk out.
I held her by the shoulder, turned her to face me, and slapped her.
She held her cheek.
"I'm the least important?" I scoffed.
What audacity!
"I am one of the young mistresses in this house, and I will get the respect I deserve. Next time, it won't end with just a slap. Be warned."
She bit her lips. It was clear she was angry, but it would teach her to know her place.
"Now go. I'll be down in a minute!" I said, dismissing her.
She left.

I went down; everyone was at the dining table, both the men and women. The table was long and filled with different dishes. At the end was Master Williams; he was looking older than I imagined him to be.
I sat in the empty seat close to Asher. I observed no one was eating, and the atmosphere was tense.
"Why didn't you come down with your husband, Mrs. Asher?" Master Williams questioned, emphasizing on the "Mrs. Asher."
"Because she refused to take care of him," Asher's mom said, shedding tears. "My poor child."
"Why wouldn't she? She is forced to marry an idiot and just found out she is going to babysit him her whole life," a handsome guy who sat close to me and Asher snorted.
He had a resemblance with Asher.
"Dylan! Are you supporting her against your mother?"
"No! I just think it's time for us to realize he is going to be an idiot for the rest of his miserable life and start telling the public about it."
"I agree with Dylan," a woman said.
Asher's mom scoffed. "Of course, you will agree, Elizabeth. You never liked my son from the beginning."
"But it's no lie that he isn't the same Asher anymore. He is now a complete idiot," a young woman my age said.
As they kept giving their opinions, I noticed Asher clenching his fist in anger.
Of course, who wouldn't be angry after hearing them call you an idiot multiple times and by your family?
I frowned; I felt pity for him.
I really don't want to interfere, but I just couldn't let him be called an idiot. I'm the only one allowed to call him that!
"Stop calling him an idiot!"
Everyone's eyes were on me.
"I understand you want to stand up for your husband. But he is not an idiot," a guy said.
I scoffed. "He isn't an idiot. He is just different. He might not be as smart as all of you, but he isn't an idiot. He's sharp, and he can be smart if taught. He feels things like any other person, so from now on, stop calling him an idiot."
"And why would we stop just because you said so?" Dylan smirked.
"You think he's smart?" Master Williams asked.
Everyone stopped talking.
"Yes!" I answered confidently.
"I'm having a billion-dollar business contract. He will take care of it. Everything about the contract will be given to him. If he is able to make them sign the contract, no one in this house will call him an idiot again. But if he fails to do it..." Master Williams looked at me.
I felt shivers.
I swallowed.
"You will pay for the money I lose." As he finished, he began eating.
Everyone started digging into their food.
Shit! I've put myself into another mess. Why does Asher always make things difficult for me?
And why do I keep getting involved with him?
How do I get a billion dollars? I've stopped getting money from my Dad.
Why didn't I keep my mouth shut?
I doubt Asher's smart.
Damn it!
Why did I say he's smart?
I would have let them continue to call him an idiot!
I cried in my heart.
I started digging into my food; I could feel the stares in all directions.
And the one I noticed more was Asher's.
But that isn't my problem right now. I have a billion dollars to get, or can I be able to teach Asher to get the contract signed?
Will he be able to do it?!
My plan for today was completely shattered after hearing that there is a huge probability that I'll have to pay a billion dollars.
Immediately after breakfast, I stood up and texted the girls:
"I don't need this stupid group that no one knows about except us so I QUIT, goodbye bitches."
I felt a sting in my heart.
I sighed. I really liked being the leader of that group, but if they find out about my problem and my stupid husband, my pride will be hurt. So I better leave with my head up.
Now to face my problem...
Ouch!
I fell on the ground.
"I'm so sorry," the person who had bumped into me apologized.
I looked at the person angrily. I was planning on lashing out at the person, putting all my frustration on the unfortunate soul. But oh my heavens!!!
He was breathtaking: tall, handsome, manly. He was so...
I was blushing profusely.
"Gorgeous," I finally managed to say.
"Are you okay? I am so sorry," he helped me up.
I couldn't say a word. I just kept blushing.
Gosh, I'm a sucker for handsome guys.
He's so much my type.
"Miss..."
"Hmm...yeah...hmm..." I kept stammering.
"You definitely aren't alright. Did you hit your head on the ground?" he touched my head and patted it gently.
I blushed harder. "I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"Yes, you're just breathtaking, that's why I'm acting..." I gasped and used my hand to close my mouth. How could I say that!
He chuckled.
Even his laugh was like music to my ears.
"And so are you, my lady," he held my hand and kissed it.
My face was probably as red as a tomato.
"What is my lady's name?"
"Cheryl."
His smile dropped. "Asher's newly wedded wife?"
I frowned, remembering I'm married, but the marriage is nothing. I am going to do everything I can to come out of this stupid marriage. Besides, my husband is stupid and will never be able to be a man, so I can look at someone else.
"Yeah, is there a problem?" I asked.
"It's such a bummer. I really wanted to ask you out for dinner."
"I don't see why you can't now."
He smiled. "Then I ask this beauty out for dinner?"
"This beauty accepts," I smiled.
"Then tomorrow night?"
"Sure."
He smiled. "See you around."
"Wait! What's your name?"
"Alpha," he replied, winked, and walked away.
I kept staring at his retreating figure.
Someone cleared his or her throat.
I turned to see Cecilia.
"Everything about the contract is in your room, and young master Asher is waiting for you..." She looked at me. "But you seem busy." She smirked. "I'll advise young mistress to be careful on how you act and behave, especially when you've made the likes of me your enemy." She smiled and walked away.
I felt like smacking her again.
I'll have to get rid of her before she does that to me.
I went to the room. In the sitting room, Asher was flipping the pages of the document sent for him to study. Out of frustration, he threw the document and ran his hand through his hair.
"Hey," I called.
"I can't understand a thing," he cried. "I am indeed an idiot." He hit his head. "I'm so stupid," he cried.
I hugged him. "You are not an idiot. It will take time, but you will understand it," I said, comforting him and giving him hope.
But in me, I was comforting myself more than him.
I mean, he can't be that stupid.
Can he?
I had so much doubt and little faith, or I'll say I have no faith in him.
But I have faith in myself. I have faith that if I teach him, he would understand, even if it's a little.
I wiped his tears.
"You're not alone; you've got me, and I'll make you understand. So get ready because teaching starts today.”
