Chapter 4

Blaze's POV

I stood in front of the full-length mirror in my room inspecting my appearance. I was clad in the tux that I had ready for the night. I appreciated what I saw in the mirror. Not to toot my own horn, but I was looking rather dashing. Everything was in place, my hair slick back and my bow tie aligned. I turned away once I was satisfied with my appearance. I went over to my window and took a peek outside.

The preparations for the party were almost over. People were already dressed in their best outfits for the night. All teens turning 18 were probably nervous like me, anxious to find their soul mate. This night could turn out both ways. Happily or very sad. Not everyone is going to find their mates tonight, but there is no harm in being hopeful. I moved from the window and sat on the edge of my bed. The nerves were kicking in. You can just imagine human nerves but werewolf mode. My heart was beating fast at the thought of a mate. I mean... yeah, I have Rea but what if...I shook my head and gave myself a hard slap on the cheek to get rid of all the bad and negative thoughts.

This is going to happen just the way j thought of it and not any other way. To stop myself from overthinking myself into disaster, I went out to find my buddy. I was walking through the hallway when I bumped into Rea coming out of Mia's room. I was awestruck by the sight of her. She looked like an angel that descended from the heavens. I didn't realize that I was staring with my mouth agape until Rea closed my mouth.

" I know I look unbelievably gorgeous, but you were about to stare a hole into me," she jokes. I pull myself together and laugh it off. "

" I couldn't help myself. I think I will have a hard time staying away from you tonight. Everyone will be just like me a few seconds ago," I said, pulling her to me and wrapping my arms around her.

She giggles and lays her head on my chest as I pull her in to smell her sweet scent. Lavender. A smell I've grown accustomed to. We pulled apart after a few seconds and I pushed a stray strand off her face while admiring her. I think I am in love. I shook off my thoughts. I think I am overreacting.

" Well, as much as I would love to just snatch you up and take you to my room, I'm going to go see Kyle. Stay with Mia and make sure that you don't separate from her. I'm having a hard time as it is. All I can think of is grabbing you and doing unimaginable things to you," I groaned, grabbing her neck and planting a deep kiss on her cherry-pump lips. I felt my dick start to harden, and I took it as a cue to pull back before things got way serious. It would be a hassle to get ready again. Not even a quickie will do it for me right now, so it's safe to stop now.

" Just stay with Mia. I'll see you later," I said through heavy breaths and my forehead touching hers. She looked a little bit disappointed, but she nodded in agreement. I pecked her one last time before I left her to gather herself. I smiled and licked my lips.

I stood in front of Kyle's room before knocking. I didn't get a reply, so I walked right in to find him nowhere. He was not in his room. The last person I thought would keep me company and stop me from overthinking was currently MIA. This is not the first time. Lately, Kyle has been disappearing somewhere, and I am unable to find him when I need him the most. I wonder what that is all about.

I was about to leave his room, but something caught my eye. A picture of a girl on his dresser mirror. I went over to take a closer look. She was a beautiful, blonde, and brown-eyed girl. She was smiling in the picture. She was unfamiliar to me. Kyle is not one type of girl, so it is strange to see that girl's picture. I don't even know how she might be.

I turned to leave, but I bumped into Kyle on my way out on his way in. He looked startled and scared.

I stepped back and inspected him. He was wearing a dirty shirt and shorts.

"Kyle? Where have you been? And why are you not ready?" I asked.

He scratched the back of his head nervously. He was going to lie to me. I know him well. That's what he does when he is cooking up a story to lie.

" I-I went for a run. It's been a while since I let Shaw out, so I kind of figured it would be a good time, since I was nervous and all," he rushed out. His story was convincing and might have some truth to it, but I could sense that there was more. I decided to let it go and not push for the whole truth. Not tonight. I'm sure I'll get to ask him.

" Okay, then you should have come to get me to join in. But since you are here I'll be your company and help you get ready while you tell me about that girl," I pull him inside his room and closed the door. I guess now is the time to pry into that girl. I'm too damn curious to wait for later.

" What girl?" he asks, confused. I pointed at the mirror where the picture was and said," That girl. Tell me. I want to know all about it. Leave nothing out."

There is no way he is getting out of this now. He's been giving me way too much grief about my business with Rea. It's my turn. I give him a little hard time.
