"Sue, what took you so long to come to me?"
It's been a week since I saw Emma again, and I really don't know how to face her.
I didn't want to lose her, so I didn't mention it to her either.
The worry in Emma's eyes couldn't be faked, she was seriously worried about me.
As a best friend.
I forced a smile, "The company has been so busy lately, I've been taking care of things."
"Why do you look so ugly? Did you not rest well?"
Emma pulled me into her house without a second thought.
"I don't care, take a day off and leave the company alone!"
She's been like this since before.
"I don't care!" "You listen to me!"
Forcing me to accept her as good.
But I still didn't resist, like a soulless mannequin, at her mercy.
I sat on the couch and watched her go about her business, but in a few moments she had it all set up.
In front of me was my favorite strawberry cake, the TV was playing my old favorite, Hyakki Sakura, and she had the cat in my arms.
Unfortunately, the cat named "Ichi" was not very honest and scampered out several times, seemingly not liking me to hold it.
I still got this cat for her.
Emma was vulnerable for a while and very needy.
And since I was busy with other things and couldn't be with her all the time, I took her to the pet store to pick out a cat.
Ichi is a tigress English short.
He kind of wants to be an animated Cass Cat with round eyes.
The first time he saw Emma he kept rubbing against her hand and snoring.
I was picking out the litter box cat food, adding some snacks and toys along the way.
Together, they swiped the card and paid for it, then lifted the cat and headed back to her house.
While in the car, she hesitated, "Or return it, it's too expensive."
The pile of stuff plus Ichi was six thousand dollars, and I had just graduated and hadn't saved anything yet, swiping my credit card, and Emma was aware of my financial situation.
"One lives a lifetime."
I stroked Ichi's head, the little guy hated me touching it for some reason.
"And I still have Trevor."
Emma wasn't talking, and a subtle silence suddenly fell over the car.
"Besides--"
I looked over at Emma, who happened to look over at me as well, and we locked eyes.
"I'm worried about you."
Like what she's saying to me right now.
"Sue, I'm worried about you."
