Liam's POV

I just walk. I bite my index finger as I relentlessly walk down the hospital hallway right outside the emergency room. I briefly glanced at the door and walked back and forth again.

I gritted my teeth upon remembering what Earl had done earlier. He wears out my patience, so he deserves not to be recognized by his son. And he will never know the truth from me. Let Jasmine do the honor. I'll let Jasmine tell her, that is if she does.

I closed my eyes and dropped my body onto the chair in the waiting area of ​​the hospital. I didn't anticipate it to happen. I never thought that this thing would happen today. All I know is that I'm excited to buy things for the child.

I washed my face. The hatred I felt for Earl is currently building inside me.

"How's Celine?"

I looked up when I heard that voice. It's Earl's mother.

The worry on his face was obvious.

"The doctor is still inside, I don't know what's happening." I answered immediately. I saw him sigh and look at the door.

"Who are you by the way?" She asked out of nowhere.

"I'm Liam, we've known each other for a long time." I answered that he nodded.

"I'm glad to know you. I hope you take good care of her, she's like a child of mine to me." He smiled as I nodded.

"I really hope that nothing will happen to the baby. She's been praying for it for a long time." He added. I smiled lightly and nodded again.

"I think I badly need to go. I still have an appointment, I just passed by. 'Cause I just wanna check on her." He promised again and said goodbye to leave. Before he had gone far, he turned to me again and smiled.

"I know it's my son's baby."

I stopped at what he said. he smiled softly and glanced again at the still closed door of the ER.

"But he's too blind to see. But it's okay, you can hope I won't tell him. Let him pay the prize for it. I just really hope that the baby is okay as of now. Because I can't forgive him." He said a long litany and walked away again. I was stunned and breathed a sigh of relief. I wonder now, how did Earl's attitude become like that when his Mama is so kind.

I stood up suddenly when the doctor came out the door. It's still Jasmine's doctor the last time.

"Where's her husband?" He immediately asked.

"Don't look for him Doc, he's nowhere to be found." I said sarcastically and he just nodded.

"Just now I told him not to stress too much. I hope next time this won't happen anymore. I can't assure you that we can still save the baby. Especially, the child is just over a month old. She needs to rest now. I'm glad to tell you that the baby is fine as well as the mother. Please excuse me."

I was relieved to hear that.

"Thank you Doc." I uttered. he nodded and left.

A moment later, I found myself staring at Jasmine. He has been moved to the OR for observation. She's now peacefully sleeping, wearing hospital clothes for patients like her.

"Liam?"

She slowly opened her eyes and called me. I stopped him as he was about to sit down.

"No, don't move Jas. Take a rest first."

"M-my baby...?" He said worriedly.

"Your baby is fine, just rest for now." I calmly promised and stroked his head.

"Don't stress yourself Jas." I added and immediately kissed him on the forehead.

He smiled even though he was weak. I also smiled at him and caressed his right cheek.

"As your lawyer, let me handle everything okay? My bill is expensive."

He laughed at what I pointed out and slapped my hand lightly.

"Even if you're really an Attorney." He was still laughing.

"Sleep there, no. I'll pay my debt after you get out of here." I joked again. He laughed again and his eyes slowly closed.

"I'm cold Attorney." He said while I watched how he hugged himself.

"Let me warm you then." I said and sat next to him on the hospital bed. it's a bit big so it's okay.

I hugged her and put her head on my chest. A moment later I hear her steady breathing. He had obviously fallen asleep.

"Sleep well Jas, sleep well baby." I said while caressing his stomach. I'm slowly getting sleepy and at the same time my eyelashes are drooping.
