Leaving

“What is wrong with you?. You think the life is easy? Do you know how hard I worked to achieve all this? And you want to damage my reputation just like this?” My dad, Mr Connor yelled.

He has been yelling ever since I got home.

“What did I do now?”I thought. I was already in pains. Getting scolded by dad is something I didn’t want right now.

“How dare you get pregnant!” He muttered and my eyes widened.

How did dad find out about my pregnancy so soon?

Wait…… the doctor!

He must have told him! Darn my dummy head, I shouldn’t have used our family doctor for something like this?

“Your marriage with Grayson would happens once you’re done with college but you dare got pregnant and ruin it?” He thundered.

I rolled my eyes. I don’t even like the Grayson of a guy. I knew dad only wants me to get married to him just for his business. He was ready to trade his daughter for shares.

“Dad….please…. I …I didn’t……I - Ahhh!”A resounding slap went across my face, and it came from my beloved father.

The man that once treasure me. The man that everyone knows am his favorite, and treated me as a princess, had hurt me for the first time.

“You’re a disgrace to the family. You don’t deserve to be a Connor! How dare you get pregnant?

“You’re such an ingrate Leilena. Did I train you just so you could cause me pains?” He yelled, sending shivers down my spine.

I immediately went on my knees with hot tears streaming from my eyes. I know how dad cherish his reputation and now, I just ruined it?

Darn! I’m such an ingrate indeed.

“Daddy I’m sorry. This is my fault. I know you want the best for me but I just had to ruined it. Please forgive me!” I muttered in tears.

I watched as dad grumble some words coherently, then look at me with angry eyes.

“You acted negligibly and you got yourself pregnant…..” he paused and clenched his jaw. As if he remembered something, his gaze came back to me.

“Who’s this man?. Who’s this man that got you pregnant?” He asked. I bite my lip.

How can I tell my dad that the father of this child ditched me?

How will he take the news? Isn’t that a huge embarrassment?

“Lena!” Father loud voice jolted me out of my thoughts.

“I dunno!” I lied, completely fixing my graze on the floor.

“What?! You don’t know the father of your child?” Dad asked, with total disappointment plastered on his face.

“You don’t know who got you pregnant Lena!” He cursed.

“Dad I was drunk. I wasn’t with my senses and had to sleep with a stranger. I woke up the next dad, with a random guy beside me. I couldn’t bear the shame and embarrassment so I left before he could wake up. I’m so sorry dad” I cried.

“Darling, You need to calm down. We should handle this in a much proper way. You’re installing fear in her. “ My Mum who had been silent all this while said.

“Shut up woman! I did not ask for your opinion!” He shot back at Mum.

This was the first time am seeing dad yelled at mum and that’s because of me. I felt more guilty.

Returning his attention on me, Dad asked.

“You only have two option now Lena. Is either you get rid of this child or seize to be a Connor!” Dad said and how gasped.

“Dad!” I called in shock. How could he expect me to get rid of my baby.

Was he really gonna disown me if I refused?

“You have few seconds to decide!” Dad shot at me.

My mouth parted.

“Daddy, please! . I can’t….cant “ I meant to say more, but dad thrust back his fist, suggesting he might hit me.

Dad’s action caused me to take a step back retreating from defending myself.

“I will keep the baby!” I muttered. Even if Albert ditched me, I will keep the baby. I not in any position to take this unborn baby life.

With his voice raised further, Dad screamed at the top of his lungs.

“You will keep this baby?. For an unknown man?” He asked in disgust.

“Since you have made your decision, you seize to become a Connor.

“Daddy please…….Don’t do this to Lena” My elder sister Amor acted to help, but clearly, she was mocking me with her pleads.

My eyes darted at her.

“Such a pretender. She has always be jealous of me since I’m obviously dad favorite and the fact that I’m more beautiful and curvy. Sometimes I wondered if she is actually my sister.

“Dad, I really can’t get rid of this pregnancy. Please don disown me….I”

Dad made to slap me again when Mum came between us.

“Stop this darling. We can’t do anything about it. It’s already done” Mum said.

“What do we do now? Ha, Lena? How do we find a man whom we do not know?. Will you even recognize him if you do?” Amor said, faking a worried look.

“Leave Lena. Leave and never come back to this mansion “ he said.

“Dad….. “I broke down in tears.

“Darling, don’t do this. She’s just a child__where did you expect her to go?” Mum pleaded with him.

“She’s not a child anymore, she’ll be a mother in a few months” he said.

“Dad, please. Please forgive me! I’m sorry!”

“Get out! Get out and never come back” He ordered while pointing to the door.

“Darling, please you can’t do this. It’s raining outside and your daughter is pregnant!” Mum pleaded.

“I don’t care woman! She needs to learn from her lesson. She has tainted the name of the Connor family. She doesn’t deserve to be forgiven. I’m so ashamed of you Leilena!” He sneered.

“You broke my trust, my respect for you. I have always adored you but today, you have completely broken your father’s heart that I cannot! I cannot accept you into my home. Learn from your mistakes, and only then will you realize the wrong you have done to me.

With a deafening voice, he screamed,

“Leave!”

“ pleas darling. Please. I beg of you” My Mum cried. Dad paid deaf ears to her. He grabbed my arm and dragged me outside the mansion. He left me out in the rain, in front of our Mansion huge double door.

Just like that, I was abandoned for my mistakes. I lingered by the door for two hours, waiting for dad to open it, but that never happened. I got drenched in the rain, crying my heart out and calling for dad’s forgiveness.

Looking up, she saw her elder sister relished in her misery.

Her mockery was obvious on her face.

The rain began to pour heavily but I had no intention of running under a shade.

I stood there, crying so hard and letting the rain drenched me completely.

I brought my knees to my chest and hugged myself to keep me warm.

“ holy shit! Leilena, what are you doing here in the cold!” I heard a familiar voice.

Slowly raising my head, I saw Clark, my childhood friend who happens to stay in the same neighborhood with me.

He was the only friend I had apart from my boyfriend Albert. He also attend the same college with me. His eyes held so many emotions as he stared down at my pitiable self.

He rushed to me and helped me up, he hissed when he touched my arms.

“You’re cold!” He said. He quickly took off his jacket and damps it on my shoulders, I felt sudden warmt wrapped around me.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him.

“ I was just out to get my goods when I saw you here!” He replied and I nodded.

“He ditched me!” I mumbled and he frowned.

“Albert ditched me for another girl!” I said, breaking down in tears again.

I watched him sigh.

“Stop crying. He never deserve you in the first place. You just have to forget him and moved on!” He said but I shook my head.

“It’s hard Clark. It’s so hard now that my family had disown me. It’s more hard since he had put me in a family way. I’m carrying his child Clark!” I said with tears continuously streaming from my eyes.

“What!” Clark screamed. I knew he was taken by my sudden outburst.

“I can’t raised this baby alone. Maybe that was not my Albert. Albert will never ditched me. He loves me so much. I need to go back to him. Maybe he’s having a hard and thought, driving me away will make me less worried. Just maybe I misconstrued his words. Albert can never hurt me….Just maybe……”

“Leilena!” Clark called and I hiccup. He narrowed his eyes at me slightly.

“You have to get a grip of yourself. Wait…..are you planning on going back after he ditched you?” He asked.

I nod.

“Oh, Please Lena. How could you do this to yourself. You’re going back to the same man that ditched you. Can at least show urself some respect?. What if he hurts you and your baby….?”” He asked.

I couldn’t reply. I was so lost. Lost in my own thinking.

He opened an Umbrella, which I didn’t know he was holding…..then led me to his car.

He opened the door for me and I slide into the passenger door, he rushed to the driver’s side as I was fastening my seatbelt.

“What every your decision is, I’ll stand by you!”he said.

I smiled at his words and nodded.

“Now that your family disowned you……what are you gonna do next?” He asked.

Right! What am I gonna do next? Where should I go from here?

“Leilena!”

“Huh..Yeah?”

“Where should I take you?. He asked with concern written all over his face.

“I don’t know. Just take me anywhere “ I replied.

He stared at me a few moments and sighed. He turned on the ignition.

“I have a house in California. I’ll take you there” I simply nod like a robot. I just think his idea is good…..I should go where nobody knows me. Where I won’t have to ruin my dad’s reputation.

California here I comes. My journey starts here! My journey of an 18years old pregnant woman…..or rather pregnant teen.
