I had always known about the human world. I've studied it for years. That is why I decided to go to what they call college. It was easy to get in with charm and money. Humans only care about money. It's a sad reality that I will never understand.
I hadn't expected anyone to like me at all but as soon as I got here everyone wanted to talk to me. I know Angels have the power of gravitation; I just never knew how strong it was since I was surrounded by them all the time. It's kind of fascinating to see how humans are around me. They look like lost souls that need saving every time I'm in their presence. The hunger and desperation they have radiates and my mind control feeds off the energy.
I try to get a drink of coffee from a shop on campus and all of a sudden, a flock of girls come by to talk to me. Some of them are cute but none of them really stand out. I didn't really pay attention though, because all I saw was her. What is she doing in the human world? Maybe she's on a mission or something. What is her name? I have so many questions for her. She's beautiful, how could I have missed her back home? Her curly, dyed, red and black hair went well with her light brown eyes. Her melanin skin glows beautifully and I want nothing more than to caress it. Her body is shaped perfectly, and I want nothing more than to explore it. She has to be at most, one hundred and twenty pounds of pure perfection. Her small chest and big butt fit well in her baggy clothes. You can tell she wasn't trying to be noticed because her outfit is similar to my practice clothes. A clever way to blend in with humans if you ask me. I have to get to know her immediately.
When she bumped into me, I didn't know how to react so I caught her to make sure she wouldn't fall. I didn't think I would get a chance to meet her but, fate has other plans. My savior has answered my prayers. All my life I've been praying to get a chance at real love. She may be my gift. I stare into her eyes and can't look away. Her eyes slightly change to a lighter brown (which I didn't think was possible) as she stares at me in wonderment. The way she stares back is like she's searching for my soul. I desperately search back for hers, never wanting to look away. In this brief moment, I feel more content and at home than I have ever felt in my entire existence. I feel drawn to her in a way I never thought I could with anyone.
"Sorry," she says over the screaming girls breaking the silence between us.
"No. It's fine," I say while studying her. She must not know who I am so she must not know what she is either. Why wouldn't she know though? Maybe she's keeping a low profile and doesn't want to expose herself to me just yet. How could she not recognize me? I'm a pretty public figure back home and I honestly don't believe there's one Angel that doesn't know of me. As she left, I kept watching her. I have to talk to her. She could be of good use to my people. She could also be of good use to me.
"Ladies! Please back away and let the man breathe!" A guy with hair black as night says making the girls leave me alone. It only took me two seconds to shift my attention and the girl was gone. He looks like an average human does. His skinny shape and tan skin make him blend in. He looks to be of asian descent. This guy seems like a cool and maybe he could be my friend but, I am a little pissed I wasn't able to see which direction she's headed in. I don't have many friends back home and he can teach me how humans work. He can also give me pointers on how to win over my Angel. Well...soon to be Angel that is.
"Thank you, kind sir," I say politely. He raises an eyebrow at my response but shrugs it off. Maybe I'm a little too formal. I keep forgetting humans aren't as proper as they used to be. He can teach me how to communicate better with humans to blend in.
"No problem man. What's your name?" He asks nicely. I have to make something up that is close to my real name. Can't risk anyone finding out my real identity.
"Alex," I say trying to make myself believe It. It kind of suits me. Maybe if I have a daughter, I'll give her that name. Of course my son would be named after me. There's no better name than Axton.
"Cool. I'm Jake," he says while putting a hand on my shoulder and walking me out the door. Humans do have a tendency to invade personal space. Something us Angel's and especially us royals, don't experience. "What dorm are you in?"
"Umm, Phillips dorm 135A," I say after pulling my schedule out of my pocket.
"Sweet! That's my dorm too. We're roommates. I have do a few rules though. Don't touch my side and bring as many girls as you want to the crib," he says seriously.
I finally get to be free. I don't have to be forced into courting someone. I get to let my guard down without worrying who's watching. I can live a whole different life here and no one will know. My possibilities right now are endless and I can finally relax. This may be the best vacation I have ever had.
"Okay," I say agreeing with him. This is going to be fun. I have no one but Caroline to thank.
