Sarah's viewpoint.
“What symbol?” I groaned in pain as my bones cracked.
"The emblem that we had been waiting for." She gave me a satisfied smile.
I hat to admit it, but I despise what this woman is doing to me, holding me in anticipation when I clearly can't do anything right now.
The torment lasted many minutes, and my final hope was to somehow stop it. Just when I thought it would never end, the full moon appeared in the sky, and the anguish disappeared. It was as if I never felt it.
Though it was puzzling why all of this was happening to me, I was relieved that the agony had subsided and that I had transformed into my wolf.
Other werewolves in the human realm had teased me about my inability to shift. I wished they could see me now and apologize for all they had said to me. However, this was not to be the case.
"You're indeed the chosen." The woman had a beaming smile.
I let out a loud scream and attention shift back to my human form, but it did not work. Alex seemed to recognize what I was going through.
"Do not worry about changing into your human form right now; instead, enjoy your wolf form for the time being. And you will have to stay like that until the night is over and the moon has turned over."
I was not expecting that. How come there are so many regulations regarding me that I'm not aware of? The saddest part of it all is that all these strangers appear to know me better than I do.
For me, the night was long and unending. I sat by the fire, watching the rest of the pack having fun while changing their wolves into their human form as they pleased, but I couldn't.
“I can't even shift to my human form, and they claim I'm their leader? The Alpha? What a big joke they are!”
“Why don't you hunt for us tonight, Sarah?” One of the members requested, and I shrugged in disapproval.
“We are your pack, and you shouldn't go against what we all conclude about. You should do as he had said.” Another protested.
“Well, I'm not your leader, so I owe none of you any obligations.” I roared through my wolf.
Alex got up from the crowd and walked in on me, he bent over and dipped his hands into my soft shiny fur; I could tell from the look on his face that he was enjoying.
“It would be fun, you know. More than you can ever imagine, I think you should try it.”
I winced, got up and dashed into the woods. Unexpected, I picked a scent of another wolf and when I looked beside me, it was Alex. It was such a relief for me to know that I'm not in this alone.
“I got you on this.” He whispered through his mind link and a smile played on my lips for some seconds.
I was about to lose focus on my mission when I picked an unfamiliar scent; it was a deer. Though I have not been opportune to taste a deer meat, people have commented that it is probably the best meat in the universe.
“It is time I have a taste of this meat.” I said confidently to myself and lunged fasted toward its direction.
My paws hit the cold ground several times, the cold penetrating it and settled into my body, but that was the least of my worries at the moment. The deer is my focus and I must hit, tonight!
I sensed that I was much closer to it and in order not to give it a hint of what's to become of his fate, I slowly walked behind it. Just when it noticed my presence and tried to run away, I gripped it with my sharp it. The deer struggled had for freedom before it surrendered to the cold hands of death.
“You did an impressive job here.” Alex, who had how shifted into his human form, said as he approached me.
I left the deer slipped from my mouth, looked at him and nodded.
“Let's head back now, the Pack would be expecting us already.” He said, and quickly shifted into his wolf form.
The speed at which he shifts surprises me, it was like less than a blink of an eye; I never thought anyone could do that, but I have one right in front of me. I picked up the deer and went raced back to the Pack. The race was more competitive, but I could bet Alex let me win this time.
As I walked into the middle of the circle, sounds of cheers filled the air and I dropped the deer by the fire.
“You didn't help her, did you?” The woman from earlier asked Alex and I heard.
“Not at all, she caught it herself.”
Our eyes met, and I threw her a glaring shot which she tried to conceal with a charming smile, but I wasn't buying into it.
While some of the pack members were busy trying to roast the deer, Alex approached me and sat beside me.
“You still have a lot to learn.” He whispered.
I could tell he was talking about the race we hand earlier, and I nodded to his suggestion.
After we had finished devouring the deer, the moon began to lose its power and essence, this was the best feeling ever. I used to think humans are useless but now, I think their form has its own powers; I would give anything right now to have my human form back.
To keep the place lively, the Pack members resorted to singing and dancing around the fire, and the sight was great to behold. I felt like I had a real family, for once. It all felt so real and happy; this is the kind of life I wish for, and I'm glad I followed Alex.
But what if there's a lot of this in Marcus's pack? What if he's so powerful, and I don't have to take the overwhelming position of an Alpha here?
“Sarah! Sarah!!”
I heard my voice multiple times, but looking around, I couldn't seem to find the person calling me.
“Sarah!!!" It came louder and echoing this time.
