AQUIN.
I'm glad that this situation has made me experience a little adventure. Rodrick was right. I did have a boring life.
Aunt Margreth lives in Aquin, one of the islands in the kingdom. Definitely, very very far away from the capital. With enough gold, I was able to reach here safely. Though I almost got caught catching a ride in someone's cart....
I am in the middle of Aquin and I have no idea where to go. My memory of this place is fading and almost every building looks the same.
"Excuse me." a voice says from behind me. I turn to look.
"I'm sorry but you seem very lost."
"I'm not lost," I defend myself, "I just... don't remember my way home."
He laughs.
"Alright, so where could someone as gorgeous as you be living?"
"Gorgeous?"
"Yes. Has no one ever told you that you're beautiful?"
He moves closer, "what's your name?"
"Diane."
"I don't think so, Diane."
"Alright, fine, it's Victoria."
STUPID.
"Victoria... I like that."
DOES IT MATTER???
"So, Victoria, where do you live?"
"Do you think I'm stupid?"
I turn around and walk away. Direction: unknown. I'll find someone trust worthy to ask from directions on the way.
"Why do you say that?" he catches up with me, "if you think all men in this town are like that then you're wrong."
Oh, so now we know that every man in this town is actually like that.
"Just stop what you're doing." I face him, "Let me guess. You know where I live, one day you just swoop in as a daring young lad with a noble heart and make me fall for you. Later, we both know that you'll get tired of seeing my face and pretending to like it, thus, dumping me like yesterday's garbage. Is that enough for you or should I keep on guessing."
He's staring at me. Yes Ella. You definitely guessed right.
Making sure my hair slaps his face this time, I turn around and leave.
*******
It's afternoon.
The sun is directly above me and I'm incredibly hungry. The best thing about Aquin is that it's famous for fruits. There are fruits everywhere.
Using some gold I have left, I bought some apples and bananas. Then across the street, I spot some children who look hungry and helpless.
Really, I've never seen anyone who looks so terrible. One of the disadvantage of being rich and being locked in a mansion. I never really get to see the world for how it actually is.
All the hunger disapears instantly and I give them all my food. It's worth doing something even though it won't make a difference.
Her mansion is just how I remember it. Tall, grey and creepy. It's quiet, like nobody is inside. But knowing aunt it's probably because she doesn't have servants who move around clinking and clanking everything.
"If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself."
That's what she always says.
I pull the rope by the big doors that ring a bell inside to inform her that there's someone at the door.
The doors open and she steps out.
The one and only, aunt Margreth. In her - always - long sleeved, silk black gown. Her hair in a perfect plait. So beautiful yet concealed. Graceful but not proud. Innocent but hated. And very very strict.
"What do you want."
Wow. what a jolly good welcome.
"Good afternoon aunt Margreth."
"It's sundown already."
"Oh, good evening then."
"Again. What do you want?"
"I want to stay with you."
Stepping back, she shifts her gaze from forward towards me. "No, go home."
And with only that, the door is slammed on my face.
For the love of goodness.....
"Aunt Margreth, I have no where to go, please let me in!"
"I said go home!"
"I won't." I argue stubbornly, "if you don't let me in I'll sit outside your mansion until you do."
"I will most certainly not."
"Then I'll die here."
It's better than going back anyway.
I really hope it doesn't take long to let me in. Everyone is staring at me and it's starting to feel uncomfortable.
And soon enough, she did. Do you know why? She wouldn't dare leave an innocent girl outside with all those weirdos lurking out here.…..
"Thank you Aunt Margreth." I say stepping inside.
"You gave me no choice."
She answers me angrily.
"I know. I also.... have no choice. I'm running away from my parents. And the only place I know they'll never find me, is here."
"Why?"
"Because you're sort of like... forgotten."
She glares at me. "You're still as stubborn as you were when you were a child. You leave here first thing tomorrow morning."
Starting her way up the stairs, my words stop her in her tracks. "I don't want to get married." she turns.
"My parents want me to marry me off to someone I've never met, and I have no idea about. And the person I thought loved me, was actually using me the entire time. I was hoping that you would understand since...you suffered the same fate."
Amaizing. I should think about writing a book. or poems. Or both.
"Fine. I'll .....keep you."
"Yes! Thank you so much." I squeal.
"But..."
Oh.
"We'll have to go over some rules if you want to leave in this house with me."
"Alright. I'm great at following rules."
"We'll just have to see about that." she smiles.
The rules are.....
1: No dressing in bright colors. You will be in either cream, white silver and black. Any other color is forbidden.
2: All your gowns should be sleeved and long. And no open shoulders.
3: This mansion should be cleaned every minute of everyday.
4: I cook the meals.
5: No guests allowed.
6: No entry of my bedroom.
7: If you go out, with my permission that is, come back before sundown.

10: No men allowed.
