Chapter 15: First Time Feeling Sorry for Willow

The restaurant closed at ten o'clock.

When Willow came out, it had started raining moderately.

She hadn't brought an umbrella, so she held her handbag over her head and ran two hundred meters to take shelter under a bus station.

Her clothes were completely soaked as she shivered, trying to call a taxi on her phone... In the rain, taxis were hard to find. Willow waited for a long time but couldn't get one.

Across from the bus stop.

A golden Bentley Continental was parked by the roadside, with Hunter sitting inside, quietly watching Willow.

He watched her running in the rain, her clothes soaked through, her whole body trembling.

Pearl sat in the passenger seat.

She had been playing on her phone for an hour and yawned with boredom. "Hunter, didn't you say you'd take me for a late-night snack? You've been choosing a place for an hour without deciding... Hey, isn't that Jaxon's girlfriend?"

Hunter lightly stroked the steering wheel, asking languidly, "Jaxon's girlfriend?"

Pearl tapped on the window, "Yes, the beautiful one with the C-cup! Brother, should we give her a ride?"

Hunter appeared reluctant. "Jaxon's girlfriend? That might not be appropriate."

"She's got a taxi!" Pearl suddenly said with disappointment.

Hunter looked over.

Indeed, a blue taxi had made a U-turn and passed right by his car.

Beside him, Pearl pulled out her phone and dialed Jaxon's number.

["Jaxon, what kind of boyfriend are you?"]

["I just saw Willow."]

["This late, and you're not picking her up?"]

On the other end, Jaxon laughed awkwardly, "Ah... I'm not being a good boyfriend!"

Hearing this, Hunter smirked coldly.

Jaxon was really shameless!

Pearl chatted with Jaxon a bit more, then hung up.

She clung to Hunter's arm, coaxing, "Hunter, can I invite Willow to play piano at my birthday party? She's having financial difficulties now—I'll pay her $20,000."

Hunter started the car, saying flatly, "She might not agree."

Pearl didn't believe that.

After a moment, she realized something, "Hunter, weren't you going to treat me to a late-night snack? Why are we heading home?"

Hunter took out a cigarette and lit it.

He glanced at his sister, "Aren't you on a diet? Still thinking about eating at this hour?"

Pearl was immediately convinced.

The next afternoon, Hunter returned to the family mansion to retrieve some documents.

As he came downstairs, he heard Pearl complaining, "Hunter, that Miss Wright refused me! How strange—turning down $20,000!"

Hunter was formally dressed, rushing to a meeting.

Hearing Pearl's complaints, he lightly tapped her head with his documents and snorted, "If she had agreed, her brain would be as defective as yours."

Pearl was offended, her pretty face showing hurt, "Mom, look at how Hunter is bullying me again!"

Mrs. Hawke sat in the great hall, elegantly drinking tea.

She smiled at her eldest son, "When I met Miss Wright before, I thought she was quite nice. I never imagined she would be Jaxon's girlfriend!"

Hunter didn't bother to explain this misunderstanding.

He curved his lips in a smile, "Jaxon is merely pursuing her."

Mrs. Hawke set down her English bone china cup and casually remarked, "Miss Wright is very gentle. I actually think she might be more suitable for you."

Hunter's expression became guarded as he nodded and left.

Watching her brother leave, Pearl leaned closer to her mother, "Hunter seems to still be waiting for... that person!"

Mrs. Hawke understood immediately.

She said to her daughter, "Your brother and that person's personalities are destined not to work out together. I think there's a better chance with Miss Wright."

After her initial surprise, Pearl became energized.

She thought simply, already forming a plan in her mind.
