Chapter 10

Miranda's use of anti-depressants was not a good idea. Things are undoubtedly going downhill. Eric was certain that he needed to discover the reason for Miranda's departure.

Eric went to the orphanage the next day to confront Miranda. He didn't want to go behind her back to find out the truth, but she wasn't there yet. So, he looked around her cabin a little when he noticed a picture on her desk. The photo was taken on the day Lizzy was born.

He couldn't stop himself from opening her desk drawer, only to find more pictures of them. A few family photos, his photos, and Lizzy's photos. He discovered anti-depressant pills in the drawer's corner.

He didn't want Miranda to see him, so he left without confronting her because he knew he wouldn't be able to talk to her. He returned home instead of going to the office.

His parents were right that Miranda still loves him, and something terrible had to happen for her to leave them.

Miranda going to a psychologist was also not a good sign; besides that, her taking anti-depressant pills made everything worse.

This was not how their lives were supposed to be. It went straight from heaven to hell.

At the moment, all he wanted was for his life to return to normal, as it had been seven years before.

Miranda was tapping her foot impatiently while Benji was debating which flower to purchase.

"Just pick a goddamn flower, Benji. You simply giving her flowers will make her happy. It doesn't matter which flower you gave her; the fact that you went out of your way to give her flowers is in itself a big deal." She exasperatedly told him.

"What if she doesn't like the color of the flower, Miranda? I don't want to upset her. She is a friend of mine." Benji elaborated. "In any case, none of these flowers appeal to me."

"Benji..." She was about to say something, but Benji exclaimed excitedly.

"Look at that, a black rose. This is perfect." He chirped happily as if he was a child.

"You want to give her a black rose. You know that right, it is very rare and expensive?" She asked him with surprise.

Benji's response surprised her and made her feel awed. "Of course, Miranda. My intention in sending her flowers is to make her feel special. The rose is a classic, and the black rose is just going to make things better. I have decided that I am going to go with Black Rose. It is unique and beautiful, just like her."

"I have never been more proud of you, Benji. I am so impressed. Are you certain you are immune to emotions?" She asked, amused.
