Chapter 4

Blake Dowd used to go to school with me and pick me up after school. To take Su Mingsen's words, he would protect me from being bullied.

Now every morning, he would only wait for Felicity Lin, and he would only wait for Felicity Lin after school.

"Sarah, my brother is coming to pick me up oh, do you want to come along?" Felicity Lin asks me every day in front of my seat.

"No, you guys go back first."

"Pretending to be a good student again!"

I ignored her and looked down to continue reading my comic book when Felicity Lin walked up to me and snatched my comic book away, "I'll take this comic book."

I waited for her to leave before I pulled my literature out of the drawer to read.

Since she takes everything from me, how can what I give her be what I really want, I have learned to never reveal my true purpose in front of others.

Time rushes by in a flash.

As usual, Felicity Lin is grabbing things around me, including my brother.

On the final exam I got third in my grade and Felicity Lin was fifty-one in her grade.

My mom also just comforted her, "Felicity, you just changed schools. And what happened before hit you so hard, it's normal for it to affect your studies. Don't be stressed."

I sat down to read the paper, "What pressure can she be under. doesn't Blake Dowd take her out to the game room every day after school?"

"Reading is needed to relax too. it's not like Felicity has any friends here, what's wrong with me taking her for a walk."

"I didn't used to see my grades that bad when you took me."

"Mom, brother, sister, don't argue. It's me who didn't work hard, I'll try to learn from ah sister in the future." Felicity Lin swore with conviction and resignation, as if she had a lot of hard feelings.

My parents decided to take Felicity Lin on a trip to Pickleson in order to take her and her brother to relax.

They had the airfare and everything ready, and just the day before they left they told me, "Sarah, Mom and Dad are taking Felicity on a trip to Pickleson tomorrow for a break. You don't have to go this time so you don't upset Felicity again."

I glanced at them and took a bite of my food, "How long will it take to get there?"

"It's only about a month, not long." My dad said.

"Meaning, no one's home for New Year's Eve this year, so it's just me at home for New Year's Eve, right?" I was not pleased.

"What do you mean it's just you for New Year's Eve. There's also the nanny aunt, I've arranged everything, she'll take care of you and cook for you." My mom threw me a card, "There's three thousand in there, watch how you spend it. Don't just know how to spend money all day long."

I stopped talking, I was an outsider in this family anyway.

I didn't take that bank card. Before Felicity Lin came, my allowance was five thousand a month, sometimes more.

After dinner, I had just come out of the shower when Felicity Lin was leaning on the door, showing off in front of me in her new dress, "Sarah, do you think I'll look good in this for traveling tomorrow? It'll look great for pictures at Pickleson, haha."

"Ugly looks don't look good in anything."

"You're the ugly one. My brother says I'm the prettiest in the whole school." After finishing she added, "Oh yeah, mom told me to bring you this bank card. There's three thousand in it. I also have a card, but there are ten thousand, mom and dad said to buy things for me for New Year's Eve, if you don't have enough, call me ah, if I'm in a good mood, I might even lend you some oh."

My heart sank to the bottom. Ten thousand for her? Three thousand for me, my own daughter? How ridiculous.
