The twins and I flash ourselves in front of the wall that protects the people inside. Memories flooded as I tried not to bring anything up with the twins by my side. They also didn't know I was in a wolf pack, especially when we were standing in front of their gates.
"Master, what is this place?" Saye asks curiously.
Arlo sniffs the air. "Sister, it smells of wolves."
His sister does the same and makes a sour face. "Master, why are we here? I smell wet dogs on the other side of that wall."
Knowing of my demon blood, I sniff the air, but instead of what Saye describes, I smell something else, fresh woodsy. Like a mixture of pine wood and sweet honey just on the other side.
"Master?"
I blink out of my trance. "What the fuck was that?" I mutter, and as soon as I say that, the large doors open slowly.
Nerves were pumping my blood as I took deep breaths.
As the doors are wide enough, I did not wish to meet someone other than Malik Shields, Dominic's beta. Another person on Dominic's side hates my guts. He walked out with two other members who were not happy about my presence here. I can feel his beta aura, more robust than most wolves but not as powerful as an alpha.
Knowing him, he wouldn't let me inside. For all, I know Dominic should have taken over his father's place as alpha, and Malik becomes his beta.
But I should be in the same position as him as everyone knows about his past. Like me, Alpha Marcus took him in. There are rumors about Malik that makes people fear him instead of hating him. For all I know from those rumors, that he killed his parents and gone rogue.
I wasn't sure if that was the truth, but while I was dating Dominic, I stayed the hell away from him.
Malik's eyes roam to the two unidentified people behind me, then look at me. Glaring.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Malik asks in a hostile tone.
It's crystal clear he does not want me here. But I have to talk to Dominic.
"Hello to you, Malik," I say his name casually.
"It's Beta Malik to you," he snarls.
"Yeah, well, I'm not part of the pack anymore, so I can say your name however I want," I ignore the curious eyes from Saye and Arlo and smirk at a growling beta. "Anyways, I'm here to see Dominic."
"It's Alpha Dominic," he's annoyed I'm not using the proper title, "and why do you need to see him? You don't belong here."
That sort of put a knife to my heart, but I did leave the pack, and I'm no longer a member. "I need to see him. It's urgent."
"What's so urgent that you have to trespass Blue Moon territory?"
God, this man is so frustrating.
"I can't say unless I talk to Dominic," this asshole wasn't subduing my patient. "Just call him out here, and I'll explain."
"You aren't welcome here," he says firmly. The other two wolves behind him growl at me. "You don't belong here."
I swallow hard.
My fingers are itching to use my magic and barge in like a madwoman, but if I do, I fear my reputation will become more severe than before.
"Master, shall I sedated him," Saye says in a purr, her arms around me once again, and her bat-like wings and tail appear as her demonic eyes stare at Malik, who in return is shocking to see a demon for the first time. The other two behind him start to take a step back. "I promise I won't kill him. Please, master, it's been a long time since I had a werewolf. Hey little boy, won't you come and play with me?"
I watch as Saye cast her magic on Malik and the two men. Their eyes change to the same colors as her magic, crystalize magenta. They all started walking towards her like zombies.
I need to do something before things get worst. "Saye, stop!"
Saye drops her hand and snaps her fingers to undo the trance. The three wolves blink their eyes, looking around, confused as to what happened.
I better give them a warning because Saye and her twin brother aren't just ordinary demons.
"Look, if you don't want to be demon's food, tells Dominic to meet me by the river in an hour where we had our first..." I blush and clear my throat before I proceed. "He will know."
I disappear right before them then reappear to the river where I had my most memorable day. I lean back against the tree and watch the river flow and the firefly illuminating around.
When I was sixteen, the same night like tonight, Dominic and I had our first kiss, and we'll things got heated after that. That day I felt horrible for what I had done. I used the leftover aphrodisiac on Dominic when I asked him to meet me by the river. And yeah, that happened, and this happened. I lost my virginity at sixteen, and of course, Dominic wasn't too, pleased. He hated me even more for what I did. I begged forgiveness, but that just made it worst.
What became my memorable memory had become Dominic's worst nightmare.
I sigh.
I don't blame him. After all, I was a bitch in my past life. But things are different now, and I no longer have feelings for a man who will never love me back.
I glanced at my watch, and thirty minutes had passed as I waited for him. I know Malik must of them him about my sudden presence, and I'm sure he's telling his alpha that I have two demons by my side and probably think I made a deal with the devil.
"Master, I don't think he will come," this was coming from Arlo, who is throwing small rocks at the river.
"You want me to kidnap him, Master?" Saye chirps as if that is something someone should do, but she's a demon. They don't care what they do, but since I'm their master, they have to listen to me.
"Don't even think about it, Saye," I warn.
"It's just a suggestion." She shrugs, then says, "but Master, I never knew you lived in a werewolf pack. You aren't a werewolf."
"Yeah, I was shocked as well," Arlo said and threw the last rock.
"I guess I'll tell you the short version of it," I cross my arms. "That pack's retired alpha found me. I was raised by them and fell in love with their son. I learned I'm wolfless. But because unfortunate events occur that involve me, everyone hates me." I don't particularly appreciate talking about my past. Now that I'm reborn, I don't want to mention primary outcomes when it involves me being accused of murder and dying at the hands of the man I love.
"So, I left," I continue. "I broke up with their son, left the pack, and here I am."
It's a fairytale story, but I didn't want to tell the extended version of it. Saye and Arlo stay quiet, and I look once more at my watch. Ten minutes before one hour is up, I start to give it up.
"Well, I expected much," I stretch my arms over my head. "We need to head to Japan before sunrise."
"Yes, Master," the twins say in unison.
Before we can teleport ourselves to our next destination, I hear a twig snap, and that same sweet scent fills my nose. I turn my head to find a dark figure hiding behind the trees, but my eyes glow red.
My heart stop and my mind went crazy. The alluring scent I had smelled earlier is coming off from him.
No...no...no!
My inner thoughts are screaming in my brain that is about to explode by this sudden startle.
Oh, fuck!
Dominic appears before us as the moon shines; his greatness makes my whole body want to respond to his presence.
Oh god! What the fuck is going on?
Seeing Dominic after one year makes my whole body tremble with delight. My heart is racing, and my entire body is getting warm. Besides his alpha aura presenting himself before me, it's just his wholeness before my eyes. I couldn't help but stare at him.
After one year, Dominic has become the man I've been dreaming of ever since our first encountered as kids. My dream of being his perfect mate had come true but with consequences. In my past life, I achieved my dream but in reality, that dream shattered.
Did he grew a bit bigger, or did his muscle?
I glance down at his pants, and I pinch my lips and feel my face heat.
"Master, you're turning red," Saye whispers in my ear. I cringe and clear my throat.
"It's been a while, Dominic, or should I say Alpha," I straighten my back and sound serious, not wanting to be intimated by his aura, incredibly how fucking hot he got.
Stop, Lippy!
"Malik told me you came by and needed to talk about something urgent," his tone is that of a leader, but behind it seems he doesn't want to see me. He glares at the two demons behind me with no trust in them.
Go figure.
No 'hello Calliope' or 'how are you, Calliope?' or 'how's life outside the pack, Calliope?'
Nope, he has gone straight to the point.
Asshole prick.
I dig through the pocket of my jacket and throw the item at him. He caught with a reflex. He opens his hand and looks down at the necklace.
His brows furrow, and he knew he recognized it. "Where did you get this?"
"Answer mine first, What was Wallace doing at the swamp?" Ignoring his question.
"I don't know what he does. I don't keep track of his every move."
I scoff.
Such a prick.
"You need to warn your pack not to step foot at the swamp," I explain. "The swamp is clouded with the miasma that anyone close to it will become a feral."
"Feral?" He questions the word. "What are you talking about?"
Did he or anyone in the pack live under a rock?
"Have you not know what is going on for the past two months?"
Judging by his handsome facial confusion, I guess he doesn't know.
I groan and rub my face.
"Wallace and whoever he was with went to the swamp. They all turned feral" before coming to the Blue Moon Pack territory, and there was a campfire and empty beer cans. It seems Wallace and his friends were having a peaceful night, not knowing the miasma lingers there. By the time I got there, three of his friends were mauled. As if they were butchered with so much anger.
It was gruesome.
"Inhaling the miasma turns them feral," I explain.
"Okay, so where is he? Why do you have his necklace?" Going back to the first question he asks from the start of this conversation.
"He's...dead, and so a few of his friends. I don't know where the others are, but my guess is they are roaming around the forest looking for their next victim."
That part is true. Telling him that I killed him would make it much more worst. "I know how you and Leah are together now, but her brother should not have gone near the swamp just to party."
"We are not together," Dominic declares, his jaw clench and his fist tighten by his side.
"What?"
"I said, Leah and I aren't together." He made it loud and clear as if I didn't hear him the first time.
Part of me is relieved, but the other part doesn't care who he gets together with. He can fuck somebody I don't even know for all I care. Though my heartfelt swollen for a bit.
But I left him and the pack three days before the Blood Rite. I assumed he had mark Leah as his mate and Luna, but it seems that didn't happen.
"Master," Arlo walks up behind me. "We must go."
"Right, we have to go," I lost track of time.
"Hey," Dominic boom his voice at us but specifically at Arlo. "Calliope and I are talking. Who are you to touch her so freely? You stay as far away from her." His eyes flash a glow of red, presenting that he is alpha.
"I only listen to Master as I serve her," Arlo then hugs behind me, making Dominic angrier, which got me confused as to why he's angry. "You are a stranger and the one who hurt my Master. You are lucky I didn't chop you up in pieces." I can feel his anger rising and his magic emerging. I saw dark blue illuminating his body.
I know Dominic is alpha now and the strongest among his pack, but if he were to take on a demon who lived longer, the results wouldn't do any good.
"Arlo, stop, leave him alone," I demand, it made him subdue his magic, and he pouts, but he will never let me go. Dominic looks like he is ready to attack Arlo.
"Alpha Dominic," saying his proper title, "I'm sorry for my attendant's behavior towards you. He only did that because he is very protective."
"Where did you met such a guy like him, Lippy?" My body flinches, and my heart skips a beat from the nickname he gave me when we were little because the name Calliope was foreign to him.
I can't believe he would call me by the nickname he has given me. What is he trying to do? Give our relationship another shot?
I shake my questioning thoughts away. "Warn your pack about the swamp. It's not just wolves who will turn feral. If any human gets in contact with it, the results are the same. Until I find the source, no one steps near that swamp."
"Find the source? Are you leaving to go wherever you were supposed to go? And why do you have to do it? Isn't it dangerous for you too?"
Why does he sound so worried?
He never acted like that before in my past life.
"First of all, I can give you one full answer. I'm the only person who can go near the swamp." I start to explain and brush a strain of my hair back. "As you already know, I'm wolfless. That is because I have demon blood in me. A demon caused the miasma so, I can't get ineffective."
His eyes grew wide, now understanding as to why Saye and Arlo are by my side.
"A demon?" He whispers the word.
"More specifically, I'm a fox demon. Shocking, isn't it. I didn't know myself until I found these two. They are also demons and told me what I am." I state, pointing to the twins behind me. Dominic had his eyes on me the whole time as I was explaining. "Anyways, I was in denial at first, but it explains why I couldn't shift though not to a wolf, but I'm not going to show you."
Is he just standing there, not saying anything? Well, it's hard to believe, but Saye and Arlo are living proof.
I sigh.
"Until I find whoever releases the miasma, you and the pack stay out of the swamp. It's not my concern if they don't listen to me, but if to you, after all, you are their alpha," damn, I sound like the bitch he knew. "But if you don't want anybody to become inhuman monsters, I suggest you listen to my warning."
I know he won't believe me, but at least he should try and be convinced.
I turn my back to him.
"I know you won't trust me because of our history. But that necklace is proof of that predicament. Let me know if any one of your packs is infected. My farmhouse is near Big Lake. I must go." I turn to face him. Saye was waving a flirty goodbye, and Arlo was glaring at him, giving him the finger. "Goodbye, Alpha Dominic," I say my farewell, the same from the day I left him speechless.
Looking over my shoulder, I unleash a wave of my magic, the color of black and blue flames swirling around me as I teleport out, leaving Dominic to himself like before.
