THREE

I crunch on the Pringles chips - flavored sour cream - into my mouth as I have gone over the research that I had gathered so far.

After a week of coming back from Japan, the source of the miasma is still unknown. From what I had asked from the locals in a Sapporo, some people went camping in a nearby forest and never returned. A woman at the harbor told me I shouldn't go near that forest because it's a curse. The twins and I went over to check it out, and we saw that the whole forest was covered in miasma.

"So, it's not just Japan," I mutter and tap my pen frantically as I scribble down notes of all the things I know about the appearance of the miasma. I circle where I had visited on the world map I had purchased from the book store.

I lean against my chair and close my eyes, trying to gather what I have known about the miasma.

"This is frustrating," I mumble and sigh.

"Who are you?!"

I snap my head in the direction of Camila's voice. I approached the screen door out of my office to see Camila, Shadow, and Takkar holding his handmade cub, ready to swing at our unwanted guest.

I look at the visitors and recognize the person when I groan.

"Who are you?" Camila asks in a hostile tone. "I smell wolf."

"Little girl, I'm not here to fight," he holds up his hands. "I'm only here on my alpha's order."

"I don't give a shit," Camila growl. "You are trespassing on our land. Leave before I-"

"Camila," I call her name from the other side of the screen door. This tension was about to start between two parties. I step out and walk up as I stand in front of her.

"Calliope Carter," the visitor smiled, and I just rose a brow. "Still beautiful as ever."

"Clayton Bishop, still a flirt." He's another person I don't want to see.

One of Dominic's best friends growing up, his third-in-command, and the biggest lady's man. Clayton is outgoing and can easily make friends.

"Come on, don't be like that. It's just one kiss. It's all in the past."

I growl.

How dare he bring that up? Especially in front of my people.

I don't want to even think about that kiss. It's just one kiss because I was so pissed at Dominic being with Leah during my 16 birthday party. I used Clayton to make his best friend jealous, but apparently, it didn't affect him at all.

"Yuna, you know this guy?" Ask Camila.

"I'll explain to you later," I tell her through my grit teeth. I didn't want to remember that. "So, what does your alpha need from me? Seeing that you are here alone means it's something important."

Usually, a beta and a third in a wolf pack would have two other members to follow the higher status but seeing that Clayton, the third, is alone and came to my farmhouse didn't want others to know where I lived. Not only does Dominic trusts his friend, but Clayton is also one of his best trackers in the Blue Moon Pack.

"You told him if any one of us is ineffective."

"Who?"

"Two boys, eleven and nine," Clayton explains.

The miasma even infects children, but their body is still developing especially that they are wolves. That is something to be noted down.

"How long did they inhale the miasma?" I ask.

"Not long. Dominic and Malik were just in time to grab him."

"Wait!" I gasp. "They grabbed them?"

"Y-yeah." Surprise by my sudden outburst.

"Fuck!" I rush inside to grab my jacket. "Saye! Arlo!" I summon the twins as they appear before me once called.

"You called Master," says the twins.

"Shit, Dominic wasn't kidding that you are a demon."

"Half," I corrected him. I glance at the three bodyguards. "I have to go with Clayton, and you three stay here."

"Okay, go," Camila knowing how I'm in a panic, understood without complaining.

"Good, let's go." I glance at Clayton, who has a confused expression. "Well, aren't you coming?"

"We are not going to go there on foot?" Says with a questioning look and stands beside me, feeling nervous and scared.

I snort.

"We are going to teleport there," I reach my pocket and flick a pill in his mouth. "Since this will be your first experience teleporting with magic. That pill will help you with motion sickness."

Before he could say anything, I unleashed my magic and had us surface in front of the Blue Moon pack center of the base.

"Ugh."

I look to see Clayton groaning after we use magic to bring us here.

"What the hell was that?" He says and gags.

"Stop complaining," I look around and find familiar faces gather around us and in shock, not by our sudden intrusion but because of me.

"Wow, it's been a while since I've seen a wolf pack base," Saye levitate herself, awing the place.

"Master, I sense dark magic coming from there," Arlo point to the infirmary ward.

Ignoring the people around us, the twins and I flash in front of the infirmary entrance, and I open the door.

"Lippy?"

I looked to my right as my heart was at ease—Alpha Marcus and Luna Lisa at the waiting room. Dominic sat by his parents' side and Malik, looking as hostile as ever, leaned against the wall.

"It's nice to see you guys again," I smile.

I can't believe they are alive. Maybe the rogues' attack did happen, and with me not a burden with no wolf, they stayed alive.

I'm so glad.

"What are you doing here?" Lisa asks; her gentle voice sounds worried for the two boys.

"I called her, Mom," Dominic stopped up.

"Why, son?" Marcus sounds confused. It seems that Dominic didn't tell his parents that he and I had met up last week as I told him to warn his pack about the miasma and ferals.

I guess he didn't tell them I'm the only one who can help them because of my demon blood. Marcus and Lisa are unaware of this outcome.

"She can help Colin and Wesley."

"No!"

I hear a yell coming from a young woman. She looks at us with total moisture in her eyes. Tracy with a man who had his arm around her as they went out of the room. Her eyes are bristling with tears. I recognize them; they are Allen and Tracy Melton. They are They must be the parents of the two infected boys.

"I will not have her get near my sons." She growls; her eyes glow with not anger but sadness.

"Tracy," her mate tries to calm her with his voice, but that didn't work.

"No, you know who she is. No, Allen, I will not put faith in her to save our sons, no..." she burst into more tears burying her face into his chest.

I sigh.

I don't want to deal with this.

Because of my reputation here in the pack, everyone knows. It's not something to ignore. I was a bitch and a bit of a mean girl. But those problems only involve Dominic.

Moon Goddess, why did I become such a bitch?

"Saye, Arlo," not saying a word to them. They understood and approached the grieving couple. Because Saye is a succubus and Arlo an incubus, they have the magic to put anyone asleep. Of course, I would have done it, but I don't want to make this situation harder for myself.

Once the couple past out from the magic cast upon them, the twins place them on the couch.

"Lippy!"

"Don't worry," I assure Lisa and the others who were in shock. "The twins put them to sleep." I reach in my pocket and pull out a small container. I walk to Dominic, who cringes at my sudden, almost body contact.

"W-what are you doing?" His voice is unstable.

"Your hand," I claim, extending my hand.

He obeys this time, and as our hands' touch, a shock wave of pleasure rail all over my body. I look up at Dominic, who matches my unanswered expression.

I clear my throat and ignore this feeling. I pull out a silver needle from the small container and poke Dominic's finger.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Malik roared and was going to hit me, but with my magic, I froze him. "What the?"

"You are so lucky I'm using a quarter of my magic, or else I'll pop your brains out."

"You bitch!"

"Malik, stop. Dominic asked her to be here to help."Clayton says his alpha's name so casually because of their friendship had asked his hot-headed friend to control himself, especially that their alpha was the one who asked for my help. "

"I'm only poking him with a needle; relax," I tell the crazy beta. After all, silver can't kill a werewolf. That is made-up shit from movies and books.

"Saye, can you check on the two little boys and tell me their condition."

"Yes, Master," then disappear into the room.

"Master is only checking and see if the blood has been contaminated," explains Arlo to Malik and the rest of the people inside the room. "Since you and your Alpha weren't careful, my lovely Master had to rush here without her equipment."

"Arlo, enough," I say to him and glance up at Dominic, who has been staring at me—licking my lips and having trouble with my beating heart. I focus on examining his blood. "Without my stuff, I can't tell."

"Master, should I fetch it for you?" Arlo offers

"No time," although Arlo can get within a flash, or I can call upon Kaze to bring it to me, but I'm not sure if Dominic was close in contact before grabbing one of the boys. One whiff from the miasma, even a tiny sniff of the dark magic resonating in the smoke, can turn you in an instant. I have to try a different method.

"Where did you learn this?" Dominic question because of my knowledge of these sorts of things regarding the miasma and being a demon.

"Books."

"Books?" Repeating the word in a question.

"Demon books." It's no lie since my office is full of books I had got from the Demon Realm. It's a way to study all types of demons and their magic, curses, and cures.

I am looking up at Dominic and his blood. With my things back in the house, I guess I have to do something I didn't want to do, especially on him. "Alpha, I'm going to do something inappropriate. So I need your permission."

"What is you need to do?" His brow lifts.

I instantly put his finger in my mouth as I got a taste of his blood.

I suddenly feel a wave of what appears in my memories. Memories of my life here and my loveless relationship with Dominic. I see through his eyes. The way he felt disgusted and his hatred grew larger each second I had done something. In his eyes, I'm nothing but a cruel woman.

Then memories flashes to the day I broke up with him a year ago. This was me returning to the past, reborn when I was eighteen. Where I told him I didn't love him anymore and leaving the pack.

I watched and felt his emotion running through him. He wasn't happy, seeing me out the door as I said goodbye. He felt as if something was missing. His mind started to shout at him, telling him to chase after me and telling him to take me back. His inner wolf was calling himself a fool to let her go. He clenches his fist to his heart and groans like he's in pain. I get to experience such strain. I heard him say, "Why? Why am I feeling this?"

I pull back, letting his finger out from my finger. Taking a step back, covering my mouth as Dominic and I stare at each other.

"What the fuck was that?" He asks in a frantic voice. Then he lowers his head for a second before he lifts it back up after realizing something. "Lippy?"

My guess is he saw my memories too.

Oh shit!

Does that mean he saw my past life as well?

Fuck?

"Lippy, I didn't know. I-"

"Stop!" I outburst, raising my voice once he took a step forward. "You weren't supposed to see that. You weren't supposed-" I groan, a discontent that he saw what happened to me and saw that he was the cause of my execution. I haven't forgotten we aren't alone and those other people were with us. I have to distance myself from Dominic before I go nuts.

"Damn it," I mumble.

"Master," Saye calls to me as her body is through the walls. Everyone gasps at sight. To me, I'm used to it. "The two cute little pups didn't inhale the miasma, but they aren't waking up. And also..."

"What is it, Saye?"

"You might want to take a look." She disappears, and I sigh. Rubbing the back of my neck and brush my hair back. Picking my pockets again. I toss Dominic a bottle. "You and Malik take that once a day for three days, every morning."

"What is it?"

"They are pills I made with my magic," I tell him as I explain the medicine. "It's only used for the partly infective host. Fully infected individuals can not be saved with these pills. This will only cleanse your blood."

"So, does that mean I was infected too?"

"No, but your body was contaminated, and if you are close with someone, but luckily it's not serious." I look at Marcus and Liza as I also hand them the same bottle. "Since you were close to your son, you two do the same."

"Thank you, Lippy," Lisa grabs the bottle from my hand and smiles. "It's good to see you again."

"Same here," returning a smile. Before I head to the patient room, I stop beside Malik and snap my finger, releasing him from my magic hold before I head towards the room.
