Chapter 1

Lila's POV

In an intense moment, I stood tall in the council chamber, observing my sister and mate scheming my execution. The crowd, anticipating the spectacle, erupted in cheers, which I couldn't bring myself to call joy. Unbeknownst to the council, I was being falsely accused of something I did not know of.

"Let's unravel the truth," urged one council member, motioning to quiet the enraged crowd. "Please, let's allow the council to determine her destiny."

My heart pounded with fear, sweat trickling down my forehead, as the chains twisted around my wrists. I could feel my veins pulsing, my body battered and bearing the marks of the soldiers' lashes.

"She's the one who killed my parents. I can't stand her, yet I begged the council to spare her life and let her become a breeder," Lisa declared, rising to her feet and making a shocking announcement that sent chills down my spine.

How could she betray me like this? Who is she selling me to exactly? Confused thoughts raced through my mind, leaving me unable to comprehend or even vocalize my fate.

"What are you suggesting, Lisa? She should be put to death, not sold," Marcus interjected, his low and steady voice audible as he whispered closely to Lisa, who was smiling at the Lycan twins, invited to the pack for a peace treaty.

"Damn it! I despise those jerks," I muttered quietly to myself while curled up on the ground like a slave, the harsh sun beating down on me.

"We want her to be our breeder, King Marcus. She's of no use to your realm, and executing her would be a waste. My brother and I have decided to take her in as our breeder, which means you're selling her to us," declared Lycan Kai, the eldest of the twin lycans, his voice filled with determination as he stood up to the councils.

He rearranged his robe with his two worn hands, although it scarcely warranted such care considering the animosity I harbored towards them. A compelling thought echoed in my mind as a striking idea pierced my heart.

What if the moon goddess was orchestrating a scenario for vengeance against the lycans and myself, for they were responsible for my parents' deaths? I contemplated this, but then two hands seized me and pulled me from the ground.

I found myself suspended between the two imposing soldiers, my head bowed low. I felt feeble and vulnerable. "Please, I need water," I implored, my voice quivering as it escaped my lips.

"You cannot have water, Lila; your saliva will suffice in soothing your parched throat," I heard my sister's harsh voice, which struck my ears like a vice. How could she be so cruel? After having taken my partner from me, she still dared to twist my words like a torment to my already bruised spirit.

Saliva filled my mouth before addressing you, Lisa, therefore, remain silent! I shouted, my voice laced with fury and bitterness, my fist tightly clenched as I attempted to break free from the grasp of the two soldiers. However, I collapsed onto the ground, weakened by the chains binding my legs and arms. Tears cascaded down my cheeks as my knees struck the ground forcefully, the gravel scraping against my fair skin and leaving bruises in its wake.

The soldiers were on the verge of executing me, as was their customary practice when the booming voice of the lycans abruptly interrupted their heinous actions. "How dare you attempt this, lycan Kai," one of them declared, "we will take our breeder immediately, as you have consented to our terms," another lycan added. I observed as the entire council exchanged glances, murmuring amongst themselves, the hall resonating with whispers and foolish laughter from those who had lost their sanity.

At that moment, my mate Marcus rose to his feet after engaging in a hushed conversation with my treacherous sister. "Well, well, well, it seems we have reached a decision," he stated. My heart raced with anxiety, and my hands clasped together in prayer. "We are selling her off," he announced, prompting me to quickly lift my gaze to him. "What?" I cried out, "I deserve death," I protested, grappling with the pain of my broken heart.

goosebumps enveloped me like a protective barrier, as Marcus unleashed a torrent of absurdities from his lips. "No, please, Lisa, do not subject me to this," I implored, watching her gracefully descend from the council's seat, her gown trailing elegantly behind her. I struggled to suppress my pride, resisting the urge to plead with my younger sister for compassion.

"Please, I did not cause our parents' demise, and I beg you not to allow them to sell me to..." My voice faltered as I cast a furtive glance at the Lycans, my eyes glistening with red. My cheeks were swollen, and my face bore the marks of tears. She approached me, as I tried reaching out to her, but she recoiled, leaning away from me.

The last gesture she offered, without uttering a single word, was a kiss. A wave of realization washed over me—having read tales of betrayal sealed with a kiss, I understood that she was indeed selling me out. I smirked, recognizing the gravity of the situation. "It is sealed with a kiss; take her away, she is of no further use to us," Lisa proclaimed before returning to the chambers.

Ultimately, I am being treated as a mere object, sold at a low price. Tears fell from my eyes as I was pulled away in chains towards a truck. Just as I was about to enter the vehicle, Alpha Kai intervened, stating, "Hold on, I need her to ride with me in my private vehicle." My eyes widened in disbelief, leaving me frozen in place.

The cool breeze tousled my hair, and at that moment, I realized that this was the start of my new life as a breeding tool for my foe. Another chapter unfolds in my journey, intertwined with both my master and my enemy, a difficult situation to navigate.
