Two weeks later,18th June 2018

I attended 5 interviews in the past 18 days, but I was rejected due to different reasons - not good in solving aptitude test, asking for higher package (10 lakh per annum), no much experience in automation, need to join the company within a week. One thing I learnt is that getting a job for manual tester is not that easy as I had thought. Either I need to prove or at least pretend that I am an expert in automation or I need to learn innovative technologies to get a job.

I saw a mail in my office outlook mail with subject as “Needed Test Analyst for UK (Onsite.)”. I forwarded the mail to Ricky and asked whether I could try for this job for a different team in our company.

He called me to the Pantry. I was happy that he asked me to meet him other than conference room. He offered me a cup of coffee. After a sip of coffee, he started the conversation “John, I saw your mail. I knew that you were behind H1B Visa for more than 5 plus years. It would be a great loss for our team or account if you are switching to a new account. Better confirm with the Resource Management Team whether the post is still open. If they said “Yes”, then I would be releasing you within 2 weeks. In the 2 weeks you could give a knowledge transfer to a fresher who would be replacing you.”

I was excited and said, “Thank you.”

“No need of Thanks, Wish you all the best.”

I tried to contact the Point of Contact for the UK job through chats, mail and calls, I didn’t receive any response from her. I thought of meeting her directly. She was seated on a different building which is almost 5 km far from my building. I took my bike and reached there to meet her. She was not there. One of them in her bay came towards me. He asked, “Whom do you want to meet?”

“I want to meet Renju.”

“She went for lunch. She would be returning back soon.”

I waited for an hour, she reached and sat on her seat. I introduced myself to her and enquired about the UK job. She asked me to send my resume to her. I told her that I have already mailed my resume. She told that she would check and give an update.

I chased her for 2 weeks in getting the update. She told that she already got 8 resumes. I would be in pipeline. After few days, I stopped asking her about it and concentrated more on attending automation training.

21st June 2018

I got an email from Abhinand from the HR team with subject as “LCA acknowledgement for 2016 H-1B Cases” and Importance as “High”

“Dear Employee,

Based on our records we understand that your H1-B was processed during the year 2016 and as a part of the process we have uploaded your certified and signed LCA along with the stamping packet in INSZoom tool (The site where I had uploaded all my documents and certificates for H1B Visa initiation.)

Request you to please check if the LCA is available in the INSZoom tool which was uploaded in 2016 and confirm to this email. This is just part of our internal audit.

Kindly reply as soon as possible.

I replied him the next day

“Hi Abhi,

My H1B application was not selected in Lottery. I hope you sent a mail unknowingly to me.

“Hi John,

No, this is for LCA acknowledgement, your LCA has been uploaded in INSZoom stamping packet, you just need to go through and acknowledge.

This is for an audit purpose.

I didn’t reply for his mail. He sent me a reminder mail to acknowledge the LCA.

After reading his reminder email, I didn’t understand why the hell they are behind me for the thing which was done 2 years before.

“Hi Abhi,

I don’t have any link of INSZoom. I almost spend 6 years behind H1B lottery that I would travel there. I have deleted all the mails of it l and forgot my user-id and password for accessing INSZOOM. If you share the link with my user id, I will check and acknowledge the LCA.

He stopped replying and no one asked me to acknowledge.
