I clenched my fists, trembling.
Once, I had seen him as my future husband, desperately pleading with him when my family went bankrupt.
But he never helped me.
Since my family's bankruptcy, I had endured enough mockery and betrayal. As long as he didn't hit or insult me like the others, that was enough.
I quickly lowered my gaze, unwilling to meet his eyes.
Yet his eyes burned like fire, intensely fixed on me.
After a long moment, he spoke in a cold voice, "It was Fiona who insisted on seeing you."
He raised his hand.
In fear, I quickly covered my face. "Fiona's problems have nothing to do with me. Please don't hit me."
I feared he might beat me as brutally as those debt collectors.
The pain never came. He merely opened the car door.
He looked at me with a complex expression.
Fiona nestled in Alexander's arms. "I came here today to tell you that I forgive you for forcing me to go abroad all those years ago."
I clenched my fists quietly. It had nothing to do with me.
But now, with little influence and tired of defending myself, I didn't explain.
Alexander's gaze was icy as he spoke even colder, "Jessica, since Fiona has forgiven you, if you harass or pursue me again, I will not spare you or your sister."
Wendy was my life.
I shielded her behind me and stated firmly, "Rest assured, Alexander, I swear I will never bother you again!"
