“Dana Cariaga!”
I looked at Scarlet when she called me. When I looked at her, I ran closer to her than helped her pick up one by the ones she bought. I lay on the floor.
“Why did you leave these things on the floor?” Scarlet asks.
“Sorry.”
“Sorry? I can’t accept your apology.”
“Huh? Why?”
“Treat me some frappe with pastry.” She said and smiled.
She’s like a cat when she smiles.
“Okay. Okay, I will treat you.”
When Scarlet and I finished picking up her purchases, she immediately clung to me and we walked.
“I want you to treat that coffee shop!” Scarlet pointed at the coffee shop, no distance from us
“Do you want coffee too?”
“Yes. Hehehe.”
“We have frappe and coffee and pastries in my coffee shop.”
“What? Do you have a coffee shop?”
“Blue gave me that coffee shop.”
“Are you kidding?”
“No?” I wonder why she thinks I’m just joking about my coffee shop.
“Dana, you don’t like coffee.”
“Really? But I like coffee.”
“You like some coffee now?”
“Yes?”
I didn’t know that I didn’t like coffee before, because when I’m in my coffee shop, it’s like I’m energized and also I drink so much in a day.
“Wow. Okay. That’s new. Since we were in high school, you don’t like coffee anymore, except for mocha flavoured frappe.”
“Well, I like mocha flavour, but not my favourite flavour.”
“Really? That is new. Your only favourite flavour is no longer your favourite flavour–Oh My God!”
We stopped walking when a woman bumped into Scarlet and she spilt ice coffee she was drinking.
“Are you blind?!” the woman shouted at Scarlet.
I smiled when this woman shouted at my friend. She hit it with Scarlet, then she’s the angry one?
“What did you say—”
I took the iced coffee from the woman and then poured all the remaining ice coffee in her plastic cup on her face and made sure that the cell phone she was holding could splash too.
“My phone and my dress!” The woman shouted and then looked at me.
“Now. You and my friend are fair now.” I stop myself from shouting.
“What?! Do you know how much my cell phone and dress are?!” the woman shouted at me too. The nerve of her.
“You passed my friend and your hand holding the iced coffee didn’t notice that you collided with my friend. After all, you’re the one who is shouting at my friend?”
I approached the woman, then I smiled and crossed my arms.
“I can pay for your cell phone and cheap dress. You? Can you afford my friend’s dress worth 789 dollars and his high heels cost 2,500 dollars? Tell me and now I will pay for the damage I did to you.” I smiled.
The woman did not answer. Instead, she walked away.
I looked at Scarlet. “Are you okay, Scarlet?”
“Y-Yes, I’m fine.” Scarlet stammered while talking.
“Let’s go to the coffee shop, so you can change your clothes and shoes then I will treat you too.”
Scarlet only nodded. What happened to her? Why does she seem so shocked?
Arriving at the coffee shop, Scarlet quickly changed her clothes, fortunately, she bought a lot of new clothes. Then she also ordered. She said she knows what my favourite flavour is.
When Scarlet arrived and landed as she ordered, I frowned.
“Dana, where did you get your courage to fight that woman earlier?” Scarlet asked curiously as she sat down.
“What do you mean?” I laugh at her question and her reaction. What did I do?
“Have you forgotten?”
“Yes? Because I have amnesia? ”
“Yes. You’re right. I’m also becoming forgetful.”
I laughed, Scarlet said.
“Do you know why we became friends?” Scarlet asked as she ate her chocolate cake.
“No, because I have amnesia.”
“That’s it. You just have amnesia, then you become brave. I used to defend you from bullies, and from those who fight you.”
“Me? The target of bullies before?”
“Yes, sometimes because you don’t like to fight back, because you don’t want trouble and because you’re so smart, you’re always being bullied, until you met me in high school.”
My forehead frowned. I wasn’t brave then? Then where do I get my courage earlier? Why did I defend Scarlet earlier?
“Why haven’t you eaten what I ordered for you yet?”
I looked at what Scarlet had ordered for me.
“I thought you knew my favourite?” I asked, then looked at Scarlet again.
“Yes! I ordered all your favourites. Chocolate frappe, brownies and butterscotch. ”
“My favourite drink is ice coffee and why did you order Butterscotch? and Brownies?”
“Ice coffee? Your favourite drink is chocolate frappe and your favourite dessert is butterscotch and brownies.”
“But, does this have peanuts?”
“Yes, that’s your favourite. Peanuts.”
“Are you sure?”
“Of course!”
“Did you forget I’m allergic to peanuts?”
Scarlet suddenly laughed out loud. What was funny I said?
“You? Allergic to peanuts? Dana, you just had amnesia, but not an allergy. Eat those.”
“But I have an allergy.”
“Who says?”
“Your brother, Blue.”
“Don’t believe Blue. He doesn’t know anything about you. Look at this,”
Scarlet showed me pictures of me on her cellphone, where I was eating brownies, butterscotch and roasted nuts.
“But, Blue said I am allergic to peanuts. Is he lying to me?” I ask in my mind.
“See? You’re not allergic to peanuts, eat those.”
….
….
….
….
….
When I woke up I frowned when I saw Reed. Am I just dreaming? Or is he here? But why?
I closed my eyes again and saw my husband, Blue.
What am I thinking? Why did I suddenly see Sir Reed in my mind?
“Hon!” Blue called me and he looked so worried to me.
“Hon!” I call him softly.
“Dana!” Scarlet shouted and approached me. “Are you okay? Are you feeling well now? Oh my god! I’m really really sorry, Dana!” Then Scarlet hugged me.
Eventually, Scarlet also broke away from the hug and wiped away the tears.
“The Doctor said you had an allergy attack because you ate peanuts. Didn’t I tell you You’re allergic to peanuts?! Did you forget that?!”
I removed my gaze from Blue’s eyes. I can’t look at Blue properly. I ate brownies and butterscotch earlier because I thought he was lying to me. I doubted Blue.
“S-Sorry...” I can’t look at Blue.
My pair of eyes widened as Blue kissed me on my forehead.
“Hon, look at me.” he softly asked.
I looked at Blue.
“I’m sorry if I shouted at you. I was just scared that I wasn’t by your side when something bad happened to you. I’m afraid I can’t do anything if something bad happens to you. I don’t want to lose you to me again. I love you so much.”
“Sorry. I love you too, Hon.”
I am very lucky with Blue. Even though he doesn’t say every day how he loves me, it’s okay because with every move he makes me feel that he loves me. I was very lucky with Blue that he became my husband.
“Stop it you two. You are both disgusting.”
At the same time, Blue and I looked at his sister who was still staring at the two of us.
“Scarlet, don’t you have a boyfriend?” I laugh at the question.
He looks bitter.
“I have no and no plans to have a boyfriend or to get married.” Scarlet’s said. Looks like she’s irritated about the topic of marriage.
Scarlet went to the other side and she crossed her arms. “Blue the jerk, I forced Dana to eat brownies and butterscotch even though she said she was allergic to nuts.” Scarlet did not hesitate to admit it.
“What?! She already told you that she is allergic, why do you still feed Dana peanuts? “ Blue asks Scarlet irritably.
“I thought that was a joke.”
“You think this is a joke to you?”
“I don’t know that after someone has an accident or has amnesia, they can suddenly become allergic to something. I haven’t read or watched it before like that.”
I looked at Blue when he didn’t answer his sister Scarlet. He looks pale.
I looked at Scarlet again. “You know Scarlet. Allergies can develop at any point in a person’s life. Usually, allergies first appear early in life and become a lifelong issue. However, allergies can start unexpectedly as an adult. In short, it’s normal for me to suddenly become allergic to peanuts when I’m twenty-seven.”
“What? Really? I mean how did you know that?”
“Scarlet, stop asking my wife.” Blue stammered.
Why is Blue suddenly stuttering?
“I’ll just buy food and medicine, Hon,” Blue said, then kissed me on the forehead.
Before Blue left the room, he warned Scarlet not to ask me any more questions.
“Dana, I’m sorry if I didn’t listen to you. I thought your allergy was not true.”
“That is all right. I’m fine and this is also my fault. I doubted Blue, so...”
“I was confused, I didn’t know what to do with you when you suddenly had difficulty breathing. Fortunately, our cousin passed by earlier and he took us here to the hospital. “
Cousin?
“Who—” before I could ask who the cousin Scarlet was referring to she spoke again.
“But what makes me wonder is how did you find out about allergy development whatsoever, Dana?”
“I just know?”
“Did you know, why we got along because we’re both lazy to study and we only do parties before? And you know about allergy development. That’s unfair.”
“Maybe, I’ve been secretly reviewing before?”
“Are you joking? You can’t afford to hold your notes and your books are always hidden.”
“Maybe, I’m just really smarter than you?” I said in a joke.
“That’s unfair. You know better than me. We partied together in college. So much has changed for you after the accident.”
I’m wondering now. How much did it change for me after the accident?
