I finished the day's work with my heart pounding in fear.
After work, I received another call from Jessica.
"Now you decide to call me. How did it go? Was the blind date yesterday completely ruined by my antics?" I started proudly, hoping for some praise.
"Ava! What did you do yesterday?"
Instead of praise, I was met with Jessica's sudden roar.
My ears!
An hour later, Jessica and I were staring at each other, eyes wide.
"Jessica, believe me. That was truly my worst performance ever yesterday."
"Ava, does Harry have some kind of weird fetish?"
Jessica and I fell into silence.
"What should we do? He's specifically asked to meet again, and we don't look alike at all, so you'll have to go."
"No way." I waved my hands dismissively, refusing to agree this time.
"Ava, come on. You're my best friend." Jessica clung to my arm and cooed at me.
"I can’t help you this time. He's my...new CEO. Maybe you should just tell him the truth."
After we met each other halfway, we decided to go together.
It was the same restaurant, and I was on pins and needles next to Jessica.
"Jessica, maybe I should just leave. I'm afraid he'll recognize me."
Jessica firmly held down my arm with one hand. "No way. Sisterhood above all!"
Fearing recognition, I copied my makeup look from the last blind date, only heavier this time.
Suddenly, I felt a murderous aura approaching.
I looked towards the door, and sure enough, Harry appeared.
With each step he took, my heart trembled.
Finally, unable to withstand the pressure, I ducked under the table with a smooth set of movements.
"Miss Kelly, long time no see."
Harry sounded much happier than last time.
I felt indignant. Was it just because Jessica was a bit prettier than me?
The table was too small, and I had no space to move under it.
Luckily, Harry's legs weren't too restless.
Suddenly, the sound of a fork dropping startled me.
I froze, staring at the fork by my feet.
The next second, Harry's face was clearly in front of me.
Harry seemed puzzled, quickly straightened up, then bent down again.
I guessed he was trying to figure out which one, the woman sitting at the table or the one crouching under it, was the real Jessica.
I slowly wriggled outwards, trying to escape quickly.
Ready. Set. Run.
"Be careful."
I had just started when, not noticing a passing waiter, I was abruptly pulled back by Harry.
Due to the momentum, my wig flew off as I turned, knocking Harry to the ground.
Holy moly!
Harry lay on top of me, looking incredulously at me, his lips pressing precisely against mine.
After a confused kiss, I knew I had to leave the company tomorrow.
