chapter 7

I stopped reading and looked up from the book when I was disturbed by a sound. I saw Artemis pick up her cell phone that was lying on top of our table. He stared at it for a while as if reading something and then giggled. I sighed and resumed reading my book.

I bet he texts Joshua.

I heard the ringing of his cell phone one after another so I really put down the book I was reading. I saw him smiling while looking at his cellphone. I gasped when I saw that I wasn't the only one looking at him here inside the library. They also seem to be disturbed by the ringing of Artemis's cellphone.

I put the book inside my bag and arranged my things before standing up.

"Artemis, let's go." I said. He was still smiling when he looked at me.

"Are you done reading?" he asked again.

"Not yet. Let's go to the cafeteria." I said and he looked at me with surprised eyes.

"It's noisy there. You sure you can read there?"

"Yes. We'll just go there."

He also took his things and followed me out of the library. I just held my breath again when I saw that he was still texting even though he was walking.

Until now, his brothers still don't know about him and Joshua. I salute her. They live together in the same house but aren't his brothers suspicious of him?

Speaking of Apollo, I think he's being serious when he said that I can use him. Because the day after our conversation, there was a change in our university website. I am now the top one again. And I'm just waiting for him to do the other thing I'm asking him to do.

I don't know if I should feel happy by playing dirty. All my life I only use my brain and hard work to be top one and I just did this now. But still, I know that I can't be the top one again without playing the dirty games.

And I think that I am now seeing the real Apollo Gallagher. The Apollo that's not a happy-go-lucky guy but is actually a cold-hearted bastard. The Apollo that's not only a playboy but also a merciless devil.

"Omg!"

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard Artemis's voice. and just like before, he was looking at his cell phone again and looked excited.

"Let me guess, that's Joshua, right?" I asked even though I already knew.

Next, he nodded while smiling as if he was really excited. I just shook my head. At least she's happy.

I was about to take the book from my bag and read again when I saw the entrance of the cafeteria because of the people who entered. And there I saw Apollo with his two friends but that was not what caught my attention but the woman who was accompanying Apollo. It's Tiffany.

I guess the speed?

"Oh god, no!" Artemis said annoyed so I looked at him. He was already looking at his twin. "I don't know what's wrong with Apollo! I mean I get it that he's a playboy but can't he at least choose a decent woman that he can fuck?!"

I laughed. I didn't think Artemis could talk like that.

"He's a playboy so only people like him will kill him." I said not even afraid that I might offend her.

"You don't get it, Daphne. There are many lame girls just so that my brother will notice and then he will choose a.. of.. ugh!"

I just shook my head for him and took my book to read. He really doesn't like girls like Tiffany. A slut to be specific. Well, I can't tell her that she was just a plan made by her only best friend and her twin brother. He doesn't know the real me yet and he might be surprised.

Come to think of it. I think Apollo knows me better than Artemis who we've been together longer.

"Apollo! Come here!"

I looked up when Artemis called her twin who was sitting not far from our table. I saw Apollo looking at our place and when our eyes met, he grinned. He said something to his companions before standing up and walking towards us. I looked back at the book I was reading.

"Howdy, lil sis." I heard Apollo said but I didn't look up.

"I am not your 'lil sis! I'm your twin!" Artemis insisted and I remembered that she once complained to me about Apollo calling her 'lil sis'. I held my breath because I already knew what Apollo would answer.

"I was the first one out so that makes you my 'lil sis." I heard the smile in Apollo's voice when he said this.

"Whatever!" Artemis said. "Anyway, why are you with that.. with that.. slut?!"

I stifled a laugh when Artemis couldn't think of another insult to Tiffany.

"Language, lil sis." I heard Apollo said but he chuckled after.

"Just answer my question! Everyone knows that woman will spread her legs at anyone so she can gain something! I didn't know you were that type of girl! You might even get infected with that disease!"

"I won't if I'll use a condom." Apollo said, trying to prevent me from showing my shock. This man is also Hanep. Absolutely unforgivable.

"Eew! Oh my gosh! Just.. Just break up with her! if I don't I will reject you as my twin!"

I heard Apollo laughed. "Chill, 'lil sis. I'll break up with her, don't worry. I'm just doing this for someone."

I was stunned. I never thought he would say that. I was afraid that he might tell Artemis about our deal so I got up the courage and slowly looked up at him. I was surprised to see him staring at me. I frowned and glared at him to give him a warning not to say anything to Artemis. He just smirked at me.

"What?" Artemis asked confused. Apollo and I were still staring at each other so Artemis looked at me. I simply looked back at my book.

"Nothing." Apollo said after he laughed. "I'll dump her soon. don't worry." he said before ruffling Artemis's hair who complained about what he did. "Hi, Daphne."

I froze in my seat when he mentioned my name especially when I noticed that Artemis immediately looked at me. I don't want him to know about our twin relationship. and now that Apollo paid attention to me which he didn't do before, Artemis will surely ask me this question later.

I heard Apollo laugh because of my reaction. I looked up and looked at him evilly which made him laugh even more. but he also stopped when someone hugged his arm.

"Hi!" Tiffany greeted and Artemis and I both had expressionless faces.

"Tiff! I told you to stay on our table." Apollo said but Tiffany caressed his arm.

"It's been a while since you came back, babe. I was bored so I came here. Besides.." she trailed off and Artemis looked at us without hiding her annoyance and tormented Tiffany. "I want to introduce you to your twin."

"No need. Everyone knows you already." Artemis said flatly.

"Really?" Tiffany looked happy. "I'm flattered."

"Yes. Everyone knows you as a slut and a whore who likes to spread her legs so no need to introduce yourself to me. You see, I already know a lot about you."

Tiffany blushed because of what Artemis said. She looked offended and looked at Apollo. maybe to find an ally but Apollo is busy with our staring contest.

"Madrigal!" I heard Blossom calling me so I ended the staring contest with Apollo and looked at her. "I won't ask how you became top one again. i know it's impossible but i'll get over it. I got Apollo, anyway. He's more important to me than being the top one." He tightly hugged Apollo's arm and leaned his head on his chest as if he was making me jealous. I kept my stoic face on.

"Okay." I just said and looked back at my book. I don't know what's wrong with Blossom. He always seems to want to ruin my day.

When the two left I did not make a mistake. Artemis started to bomb me with questions one after another. I haven't finished answering one yet, but he will ask another question.

"There's nothing between me and your twin." I told him several times but he didn't believe me. He didn't stop me until we reached the parking lot.

"Be careful around him, Daphne. apollo can make anyone fall in love with him. I just don't want you to get hurt." was the last thing he said before he got into his car.

I know that. I know that. That's why I do everything to avoid him so that he doesn't enter my life forever. In my life full of secrets.

I don't want him to know about my parents. That I am a result of a great sin. That I shouldn't have lived in this world because I was only reminding my own mother of the hardships she went through. My very own existence is hurting my own mother.

But for some reason, Apollo can find his way to enter my hellish life. Without realizing it. I didn't even notice that he was slowly entering my life. And I'm scared. I'm scared that one day, he'll find out the truth about me. I'm scared of what he will say. I'm scared that he's going to judge me.

So I must rebuild the wall that I made so no one can enter my life. I need to get that back so that Apollo can't enter my life forever.
