Chapter 1

A loud crash sounded.

The celebratory champagne tower shattered on the floor, and the lively wedding scene fell into silence.

I looked around.

My boyfriend, who had been giving me the cold shoulder for three days, and my best friend of over twenty years were the center of attention at this wedding.

At this moment, Adrian was furious, his right hand covering his forehead.

Blood trickled through his fingers as he pointed at me with an unflattering expression, cursing loudly, "Michelle, have you gone mad? Do you want to die?"

I snorted coldly, gripping the baseball bat tightly as I approached slowly.

My best friend Tracey trembled in fear from my icy gaze, instinctively clinging to Adrian's clothes.

He held her in his arms with one hand, his expression stern as he warned, "You dare to hurt Tracey in front of me? Do you think I'll let you have your way?"

I stopped in my tracks, and everyone at the scene was intimidated by my overwhelming hostility, keeping their distance from me.

Only Tracey took small steps forward and stood in front of Adrian.

She placed her left hand on her waist and gently cradled her protruding belly with her right hand.

In her once timid and weak eyes, there was now calculation and grievance.

"Michelle, don't be angry. We didn't mean to keep it from you."

"It's just that you're always so busy, always leaving Adrian alone. He's so lonely."

I sneered, "That was why you climbed into his bed?"

My words struck a nerve with Tracey, draining all color from her face, but she still refused to back down.

"Adrian and I truly love each other."

"You have an impressive family background, and you're beautiful, having people chase after you. You can't understand what it's like to silently wait for someone."

"You once said you liked children. Now that I'm pregnant, shouldn't you be happy for me?"

"This is Adrian and my first child. If you're willing, you’ll be the godmother of the baby."

She tightly held onto my hand, pleading with her eyes.

I shook off her hand and took a step back while covering my nose.

"The stench on your body is suffocating me."

"Being a godmother to a mistress's child might bring bad luck."

"If you like sharing a husband with others, that's your business."

"I only find it disgusting."

Tracey trembled and stumbled as she sat down on the ground.

Adrian tenderly helped her up, glaring at me with anger in his eyes. "Tracey was worried about how you would react before. She even thought about letting you be the child’s godmother."

"However, you’re way out of line! Letting you be the godmother would be an insult to the child."

"Get out of here, then I'll pretend nothing had occurred," he said with feigned magnanimity, causing many people to look at him suspiciously.

But I continued to sneer, still defiant.

"Why should I?"

"You cheated on me, and now you dare to ask me to leave?"

"Adrian, have you forgotten who supported you all this time?"

My clear voice pierced through the hall, causing many people to start whispering.

Adrian's eyes flickered before he quickly spoke up,

"Stop wasting time! Drag her out!"

"Hurry up and get her out of here!"

He waved his hand to call over the bodyguards to cover up his guilt.

I raised the baseball bat and swung it fiercely at the approaching bodyguards.

"Anyone who dares to lay a hand on me should be prepared for retaliation," I declared.

"Michelle! Don't go crazy!"

Adrian rushed forward in anger but was hit on the forehead by my swing before he could reach me.

He fell to the ground with a loud thud while Tracey turned pale with fright.

People from the Turner family trembled in anger. "How dare you cause trouble on the Turner family's territory? I will make sure you pay the price."

I curled my lips into a sneer. Just as I was about to make another move, someone suddenly grabbed my wrist.

A familiar scent enveloped me as a cold touch made my heart tighten.

A familiar voice rang in my ears. "Pay the price? What kind of price do you want her to pay?"
