Chapter 8

Amber's Pov

Sir Kevin asked me to go to the bar. Even at midnight, I still went because I was thinking about Dad’s condition. I still don't want to lose him... even though he treats me like that, I still love him.

"Hey, bitch! Why late—"

"Later, Daph."

I just passed Daphney's startled face and I went to Sir Kevin's office. When I got to the door I took a deep breath before knocking.

"S-sir, it's Aimee."

"Come in."

I turned the doorknob and I saw Sir Kevin is mixing some wine. He looked up at me and immediately looked back at what he was doing, "What do you need, Aimee?"

"Uhm ... M-my dad is in the hospital. I can't afford the expenses Sir that's why I'm here infront of you..."

"So, it's all about money then?"

He lowered the mixing glass he was holding and turned to me. He slowly walked closer to me so I stepped away until I was now leaning against the door. Holding my breath I stared into his eyes, "You know what I want, Aimee."

Is he referring to my body? For the sake of my father, I'll do anything that he wants. In fact, I should have been celebrating Dad's situation, but what he had done for me since I was a child dominated my heart. At the time the three of us were still very happy and didn’t think of any problems.

It is true that the world is round. Everything turned upside down when my Mother passed away here on earth. Dad became addicted to alcohol and harassed various women.

I'm not an exception.

"I'll do anything, S-sir."

He smiled at me so I saw his two dimples on his cheek, "Good. How much do you need?"

My jaw literary dropped. I was surprise, was it that easy for him?

"Is that true, Sir?"

He just looked at me then he chuckled, "You don't like it?"

I was repeatedly shaken by what he said, "I l-like it, Sir! Thank you."

I quickly hugged Sir Kevin tightly. I could even smell his fragrant scent sticking to my nose. He just messed up my hair. I let go of his hug and looked at him, "T-thank you..."

"Don't be grateful first. Be grateful when you do what I want."

I was devastated by what he said. He smiled at me before heading to his desk. I followed him and saw him open his vault, "Sit down."

I followed what he said. I waited for what he would do next but he just stared at my face. I felt shy so I lightly patted his face.

He looked confused but he turned his gaze to the vault, "What do you think is its password?"

"Uhm... I-I don't know sir."

"Cut the 'sir', Aimee. We're almost the same age."

I just nodded at what he said. I was surprised because he typed the vault password. It was my birthday. I looked at him and I mouthed 'what?'

"You know that I like you from the very start, Aimee. I can lift you from your father's hardships. I'll do anything for you even though the feeling is not mutual. Your life will be better with me, just please choose me. "

I swallowed.

I WENT back to the hospital when I got the money from Sir Kevin. I am so grateful that he understands my situation today. I thought we would do that but I was more surprised because he said we would only do it when he thought about when.

When I arrived at the room that Dad was occupying, I immediately entered. Dad stared at me and the shock on his face was obvious when he saw me, "W-what are you doing here?"

"Dad..."

I put the fruit I was carrying on the table next to it. I grabbed a chair and turned to Dad, "Are you all right?"

"Why did you bring me here? I hope you let me die so that there is no burden on you."

"Dad! Don't talk like that. You're the only one I have, you want me to lose you?"

Tears welled up in my eyes and I quickly wiped them away. I just didn't listen to what Dad said next and I just took a grape and fed it to him, "Eat it."

Dad took the grape in my hand and ate it. We just did that until the door of Dad's room suddenly opened and Areal's face was exposed in front of us.

"Areal! What are you doing here?"

"Oh my, what happened to Uncle?"

Areal also put down her fruit and approached me. She didn't know what happened to Dad and I so she's just very worried now. What I told her before was that I could no longer afford to study because of the extreme poverty because Dad had no job.

She thought we were both fine. She thought everything was okay with me.

"Oh, Uncle, how are you?"

"I'm fine, hija. Don't worry."

Areal just nodded at what Dad said and turned to me, "What really happened, Sis?"

I turned to Dad and signaled for the two of us to come out first. He just nodded at me so I guided Areal out.

It was obvious in Areal's eyes that she was very worried when she saw my state. My clothes were soaking wet because of the heavy rain earlier. I didn't even bring my umbrella.

"What happened, Sis?"

"Okay, Dad's heart hurt so I rushed him to the Hospital. And wait, how did you know we were here? My cellphone is broken so I can't text you."

She just rolled her eyes at me, "Duh. That's right, you're not answering my text because we'll do a thesis later because there's no class due to the heavy rain. I went to your house and I found out from your neighbor that Uncle is in the hospital. "

I just nodded at what she said. I turned to the clock and saw that it was two o'clock in the morning, "Have you come here alone? Isn't it dangerous?"

"I'm with the driver and our bodyguard so don't worry. Mommy already knew about Uncle's condition that's why she let me."

I'm really grateful because Areal is my friend. She understands me and doesn’t judge me unlike other girls at school who just look at me as incompetent and dependent on what Areal has.

They thought that I was just using Areal which is not true. I value our friendship.

"Mommy lent me money. She said I'll give it to you ..."

She handed me a thousand bills so my eyes widened, "Areal, I can't accept this—"

"No no. You don't have to pay for that, Sis. We're just helping."

I nodded quickly and my tears flowed. I was really very lucky with her. I immediately hugged her so she hugged me back as well, "Thank you, Areal. I owe you one. Let me and I'll get back to you. I'll do whatever you want."

She just smiled at me, "Just don't like Kley. That's all enough."
