More Than Just Friends

"Aditi you should throw away the alarm clock, it's of no use to you", shouted Navya pulling away Aditi's blanket.

"Don't wake me up in the early morning for no reason", muttered Aditi while pulling on her blanket.

"Get up kumbjkarm! Look at the time now. Are you forgetting that today is the first day of our college?" Navya said in an anger tone.

"I can never win over you." said Aditi while getting up.

Aditi got up and went into the washroom while Navya went to the kitchen to make some food. While she was confused about what to make, Mohit came there.

"Good morning, Navya," Mohit wished her.

"Good morning,"Navyah replied.

"Are you preparing your breakfast?" Mohit asked.

"No, I am preparing our breakfast what about pasta?" Navya suggested.

"Yep, it is a nice idea,"Mohit said.

"Where is Karan?" Navya asked.

"He is getting ready. I will come back in 5 minutes after attending the call," Mohit went away.

Navya nods.

"What? You both are also in Nielson college? Aditi was shocked at this newfound information.

"You are also admitted there?" Karan inquired.

"Yes," Navya replied.

"Then great!!! Even we will rock there," Mohit said.

"Navya, the pasta is really very tasty," Karan said.

"This is the best pasta that I have ever tasted," Mohit said.

"It is simply yummy," Aditi said.

"Now let us go to college or else we will be late," Navya said.

"But how will we four go together?"Aditi asked.

"Car is waiting for us downstairs," Mohit said.

"Car?" Karan was confused.

"Yes, Papa has sent our car here for us," Mohit said.

While the professor was teaching Navya was taking the notes seriously and listening to whatever he was saying, Aditi was sleeping, Mohit was busy in his Facebook account and Karan was flirting with the girl sitting on the front bench. After the class was over, the professor asked Aditi to summarize what was taught in the class. Aditi who just got up had no clue about which class was going on. She looked at the professor without blinking her eyes. Navya passed her notes and Aditi started reading it. Finally, she got saved. The bell rang and all the students came out.

Aditi: Mohit let's go and buy chips for munching it tonight while watching a movie. Navya and Karan you both go to the parking.

As Navya was walking, some guys purposefully stuck their feet out trying to trip her but she stepped over their feet very carefully.

"I am going to teach those guys a lesson," Karan said.

"No, please don't do anything unnecessarily that will create problems," Navya said.

"No they need to learn the consequences for messing up with us," Karan said.

“How dare you pull off such a cheap prank on my friend?”Karan was angry.

“Are you her bodyguard?? Or her boyfriend?” a guy asked.

“No he cannot be her boyfriend. She is the virgin queen,” the second guy said.

Navya looked at Karan with tears in her eyes and Karan swung his hand and slapped that guy hard.

“Can I be your husband just for one night? There is nothing wrong with having some fun, is there?” the third guy asked.

Those comments made Karan lose his control. There are few sick guys in every college who have no respect for girls

Karan pounced on them like a mad guy.

“It is your choice if you love to lose your virginity but who the hell are you to comment on her personal life and talk shit about her?” Karan said.

"So you are her boyfriend and you can go hard for her?" the second guy asked.

Those comments kept pouring into Navya’s mind and she could not resist reaching.

"Just stay away and don’t think that every silent girl is weak. A girl’s silence can scatter your damn world," Navya replied back.

Navya’s word made the entire group silent. Karan kept gazing at her without blinking her eyes and was proud of her.

The best feeling in the world is that your friend loves you just the way you are wouldn’t change anything about you. Navya was lucky enough to have a friend who stood by her whenever she needed him. She was thinking about their first meeting and how quickly they became best friends.

Navya’s eyes were full of pain and Karan could see it. When a person can see the pain behind your smile, words behind your silence, and love behind your anger, you can be sure that you have found your best friend.

Friendship is not about the rules you set for each other. It's’ about love, commitment, respect, trust, and the fact that you do not give up on the other. For the next moment, Karan made Navya laugh forgetting all her pains by saying about his ex-girlfriends. Ragni felt bad after listening to his girlfriends. Was she falling for him? Or this is friendship? But certainly, this is more than friendship. Navya and Karan came back home in an auto without waiting for Aditi and Mohit. Karan messaged them that they have reached home.

Karan took a deep breath before entering Navya’s room. He was confused about whether to go or not. He entered that room in everyone’s presence and today in everyone’s absence he felt reluctant to enter the room.

"You don’t need to knock on the door," Navya said.

"How did you know that I was on the door," Karan asked.

"I am super talented,"Navya replied.

"Can I ask you something?" Karan asked.

Navya nodded yes.

Karan: why are you always silent and reserved?

"I have my own reasons," Navya said.

"What is the reason?" Karan asked.

Navya was silent and Karan understood that she didn't want to share.

"It’s okay, if you don’t want to share, I will not force you," Karan said.

Karan got up and was about to go but Navya held his hand.

"Won’t you listen to the reason?" Navya asked looking at him

Karan sat back in his place.

"I used to love Arjun. We both were in relation and I never felt secure in his arms but I loved him. Once he had taken me out for a party. it was a pub. I sensed something wrong and asked him to return back but shouted at me. He started using physical force on me and even he slapped me. As he was about to force me, police raided that pub. He ran away leaving me alone. And luckily one of the police was my dad’s best friend and he saved me. From that day I hated men. Every man is equal," Navya said.

"Every man? Karan asked.

“Except dad, you and Mohit,” Navya replied.

Karan: Still now you are living in the haunting memories of your past. Try to get out of that trap. Time heals everything.

Navya and Karan were busy staring at each other as if deeply in love.

Navyas’ prince whom she had once seen in her dreams was walking out from the darkness towards her.

Just then Mohit and Aditi entered the house. Navya and Karan composed themselves after hearing the door’s sound.

"Navya, are you alright?" Mohit asked.

“When she is with me she has to be alright,” Karan said with a proud smile.

Navya felt delighted seeing Mohit’s concern for her and on the other hand, she felt secured and complete with Karan. She was confused about her feelings.

“Navya! Do you like Karan?” Aditi asked.

“Aditi are you crazy?” Navya said.

“You hate boys but you were very close to him today,” Aditi said.

“He is not like Arjun and I have realized that I cannot judge every man on one basis. I should get out from my past. I have a brighter future. I don’t think that I really loved Arjun. It was just an attraction that I misunderstood as love. Sometimes what you love is not what you deserve. I deserve someone better than Arjun,” Navya said.

“OMG, such a drastic change in just one day? Aditi asked.

“Yes, Karan made me understand,” Navya replied.

“I think you guys-” Navya interrupted Aditi.

“Shut up. We are more than just friends,” Navya said.

“Your connection with him is above time and space,” Aditi said.
