Flora's POV
I walked towards the door and opened the door to who it was. My brother barged into my room laughing as he bumped into my bed.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, surprisingly.
“I came home because I missed everyone.” He responded.
“I'm going out and will be back in the evening.” I said, carrying my bag from the bed.
“I came home to see you and you're leaving me here?” He asked, sadly.
“I won't take too long. I already scheduled the appointment and wouldn't want to cancel it.” I said, walking out of my room.
I was on my way out of the house when Janet called me. I picked it up and she told me she's already waiting for me outside our house. I rushed outside to join her and I could see her in her pink dress with her curled hair packed in a ponytail.
“Come in.” She said, signaling to me to walk faster.
I walked towards her and she opened the car door asking me to enter which I did and she followed. The door was locked and the driver zoomed off.
“Thank you so much for agreeing to come with me.” She said, thankfully.
“You don't have to worry about that.” I said, smiling.
“ I have no friends because I'm not good at keeping friends but I needed someone to talk to before leaving this city for another.” She said, playing with her nails.
“That's not a problem.” I said, smiling as I looked at her.
Janet is from a rich family but she told her parents that she wanted to work as an intern first to gain experiences before taking over her father's company. She worked diligently and she's liked by the bosses at our workplace. She's cool, calm, humble and honest. We got to the restaurant and the driver stopped the car.
“We left home earlier and I'm sure you haven't eaten anything. Let's go in.” She said, as she opened the door from her side and I did from my side too. We both got down from the car and walked into the restaurant. We saw a vacant table close to us and we walked closer to it immediately and sat on it.
“Where are we going after leaving here?” I curiously asked.
“We are going to the beach first before any other places.” She responded, smiling.
“Any other places? Are we going to different places?” I asked confusingly.
“We're going to different places.” She responded.
“But,…” I was about to talk when the waiter interrupted me.
“What would you like to have?” He asked, giving the menu to us.
I pointed to a dish and Janet did the same and the waiter left to bring our orders.
“You wanted to say something?” She asked, looking at me.
“I will be going home before evening. My brother got back from school today and he came to see me but I couldn't stay with him because I've promised you I'll follow you.” I said, looking at her.
“That's not a problem. When it's time, let me know and we will leave immediately.” She said, assuringly.
I heaved a sigh of relief as we expected the waiter to bring our order to the table. After waiting for a while, the order was brought to our table and it was ready to eat. Janet picked up her cutlery immediately and asked me to start eating.
“This looks delicious.” She said, holding the cutleries and started eating.
“Dig in. It's delicious.” She added as she continued eating.
I picked up my cutleries and started eating.
“This is really yummy.” I said, looking at her.
“I told you.” She said and continued eating her food.
We finished eating and we both smiled at each other before standing up and walking back to the car after settling the bills.
I entered the car and followed me as we sat down and locked the door. The drive zoomed off and it's time to go to the beach. We got to the beach in less than an hour. Janet opened the door and ran off to the beach, smiling and I followed her immediately.
“Come here.” She said, waiting for me to join her before she sat down.
“I love coming here whenever I'm bored and need something to keep myself happy.” she said, looking at the beach from afar.
I looked at the water and I smiled as well. At that moment, my worries and sadness were gone and happiness was written all over my face.
“Let's move closer.” Janet said, as she stood up from the ground and stretched forth her hands to bring me up from where I was sitting.
I stood up and followed her and we moved a bit closer to the water which gave us more breeze than we had at our previous seat.
“It's so beautiful and refreshing here.” I said, smiling.
“I love it too.” She said, smiling back at me.
After spending more time at the beach,we decided to get up and go to the cinema which was next on her list. We stood up and began the journey as we entered the car and it zoomed off.
I could see the happiness in Janet's eyes as she was smiling all over the journey to the cinema. We got to the cinema in less than thirty minutes and we got down from the car walking into the cinema. She already bought the tickets and that wasn't a problem for us. We sat down on our seats, expecting the movie to start in the next ten minutes.
The movie started and it was an interesting movie to watch. After less than two hours of watching, the movie ended and it was an exciting movie. We walked out of the Cinema and I checked my phone to see the time. It's almost four o'clock pm.
“Can we go home now?” I asked.
“Sure, we can.” She responded, with a broad smile.
We walked towards the car and got in and the car moved in the direction back home.
“Thank you so much for today.” She said,
“You're welcome.” I responded, smiling.
“So,you'll be starting from the next branch on Monday, right?” I asked her.
“Yes, the new month is starting tomorrow and I'll be leaving home tomorrow to the apartment before going to work on Monday.” She responded with a groan of frustration.
“This is a beautiful thing for you.” I said, trying to make her smile.
“I know but I'm familiar with no one over there.” She replied, chuckling.
“It's just a matter of time.” I said as the car got to my house and I had to get down.
“I'll call you when I get home.” She said, waving to me and I heaved a sigh of relief.
I walked into the house and found the house empty, I called on my brother but no one responded to my calls. I checked my father's room but it was empty everywhere.
