CHAPTER 3

Kristen pov

It had been a month since I last saw Caden and I was glad. I somehow managed to convince Amy to allow me to stay at my place at weeks and then at weekend I somehow put up some excuse or the other to avoid going to her place.

Today being Friday I walked out lazily out of my class.

"Krisy" Amy yelled the moment I step out.

"Hey Amy" I reply yawning at the lack of sleep.

Last night had been terrible. The landlord warned me to kick me out if I didn’t pay him by Sunday or if I didn’t had any other form of payment.

The old man was a cheap bastard. And then one thought let to another as I ended up wondering how different the whole would have been if I had parents. I usually avoided the thoughts as it was depressing but I ended up like that.

"So let’s go home after last lecture" she asked.

"Noppers please Krisy" I begged.

She stayed quiet for a moment before analyzing me and I was shocked that she didn’t shriek and drag me.

"Have you been seeing Caden lately" she asked ever so suddenly as her voice turned suspicious.

"What! No absolutely not instead I am avoiding him" before I knew the words left my mouth.

Amy just raised her eye brows and crossed her arms on her torso. A clear signal that I should start speaking or I have hell to pay.

"Well cat kinda introduced us the other day and don’t get mad but he is kinda scary so I wanna keep my distance" I explained.

"Well that’s good because he asked me about you the other day" she replied calm as I choked on my strawberry milkshake.

"About me?" I shuddered.

"Yeah about why suddenly my best friend hasn’t visited In forever" she narrowed her eyes.

"Ugh" I gave an annoyed grunt.

"But it’s good that you have decided not to cross his path. He ruins people and especially innocents like you don’t really belong in our world" she replied.

I hated where this conversation was heading so I was happy when the bell rang and even more glad because we had different lessons.

"Let’s just go to the museum after college" I asked her.

"Will do captain" she chuckled before making her way to her class.

I sighed annoyed at my life. The more I run away seems like problems are chasing me and I was in no mood to engage in mafia and illegal business. I just wanted to study and live a peaceful life.

Sighing I made my way to Mrs. Norris’s boring English class.

The day passed in bluff with spending time with Amy at museum and then it was time to go to my job.

I dreaded this time of the day. It made me sick. Especially the pickup lines, the drunk boys and the annoying flirting.

Reaching up to the counter the Club was at its regular blow. Drunk people, sweaty bodies and people making out as usual.

"Hey baby can I get a whisky" a voice slurred.

"Sure sir" before I grabbed and gave him his drink.

His dirty hand lingered on mine as he grabbed his drink, that’s why I hated working here but it wasn't like I had a lot of choice.

"How about you give me your no.? Baby" he slurred.

I took out a chit from my jean pocket and handed it to him. With a satisfied smirked he walked away shoving it in his pocket.

Assholes like him didn’t take no as answers so I had these chits ready where they either read random no.s or

'Fuck off' written in them.

I wasn’t sure what he got so I chuckled.

"Krisy" Sam called.

"Yeah Sammy"

"Actually we have booking at VIPs so help me out, someone else will cover your shift." He explained.

"Sure" I replied with that I grabbed a tray as he grabbed another and we walked towards the VIP section.

Reaching there, Sam kept his drinks and left. I kept my head down as I kept my drink and was about to leave when a hand caught mine.

"What’s the hurry doll face" I looked at the owner of the voice. The man was probably in his mid twenties. I would be lying if I said he was ugly but his attitude was shitty so I clearly wanted to leave soon.

One more disadvantage at the club was that you couldn't really upset or fight off the VIPs especially if you loved your job like I did.

"Come sit on my lap" he slurred.

My eyes widen as everybody chuckled.

I always liked maintaining a decent distance with people.

"Enough... let her go" the voice made me weak to my knees as I looked up to meet the same enchanting eyes.

The man looked shocked before he left my hand and I ran away.

Once outside the room, I breathed heavily. I wasn’t sure what scared me more

The man or the anger, coldness and the intensity in Caden’s eyes.

Ignoring the red buzzing signal in my head I headed back to the counter.
