Chapter 5

Though her original intention of working here was only short-term - after all, she was now broke and in desperate need of a regular job to support herself - meeting Liam, the owner of the davis group, whom she'd known well from her past life, in this situation still froze her slightly.

Just then, Liam, surrounded by a group of elites, had walked across to her.

The two leaned in close, and a faint, unmistakable scent of soap hit their noses.

Liam, who was walking in front of him, didn't seem to expect the woman in front of him to look so carelessly into his eyes. Only to see him standing straight in front of him, slightly sinking his handsome face and frowning slightly.

It wasn't until that moment that Evelyn realized she was standing in front of the big boss's private elevator.

She dodged out of the way and quickly ducked to the other side.

Just then, without looking back, Liam walked past her and pressed the control button for the private elevator.

On the weekend, Evelyn asked her best friend Luna out for dinner, and since it was Evelyn's treat today, she chose a more upscale western restaurant.

As soon as Luna saw the menu, she began to complain in a low voice, saying that the stuff here was flashy and ridiculously expensive, that one meal here was the equivalent of five meals out, and that across the board, both of them were going to lose money today.

Evelyn ignored her friend's complaints, and after the waiter left, she smiled and said, "Whenever we used to walk here on our shopping trips, you'd say that when you get rich, the first thing you'll do is come here to feast. Since you have been yearning for this place, now that I've gotten my paycheck, I'm going to invite you here to savor it."

Luna laughed, "That was just my joke; I didn't realize you took it seriously."

"Well, here it is, once in a while, and it won't break the bank."

"It seems that the salary of Davis group is really not low; you actually spare half of my month's salary to eat here; if I didn't choose to be in the literature department in the first place, I don't know if I still have a chance to be recommended by the director to work in Davis group."

"In fact, the DAVIS Group is not as perfect as you think; wherever there are people who exist, it will become a battlefield without smoke.

In fact, I think the magazine you work for has a great environment, simple coworkers, and cozy work, and I don't know how much easier it is than a competitive place like the DAVIS Group."

That's what Evelyn really thinks, except when she chooses to read business books, she's destined to have nothing to do with places as literary as magazines.

In addition, she could not refuse the goodwill of the department chairperson, which is why she accepted the position with the Davis group.

It has been proved that in order to get a foothold in such a large multinational company, work ability is one aspect and interpersonal relationship is another.

She has to learn business skills on the one hand and learn to read people's faces on the other; if she is a little slack and negligent, she will invariably make enemies for herself.

Luckily, her last life job was in business, and with seven years of experience, she didn't look like an idiot who didn't even realize she'd inadvertently offended someone.

Luna's ideas are much more naive than her current maturity.

After all, the other party is just a 23-year-old young lady, and her biggest goal in life is to make a lot of money, the only way to provide a privileged living environment for her mother and brother.

During the meeting, Luna asked about her interest in the owner of the Davis group.

The world is such that the more the outside world mystifies a person, the more that person gets media and public attention.

It's no secret in the industry that the Davis Group is now headed by a 26-year-old.

Many people privately bet that if such a multinational company with tens of billions of dollars in assets were to be handed over to a young man to manage, within a year, the davis group would be in an economic crisis.

However, it turns out that not only is there no economic crisis in the davis group, but since Liam took over the company, the performance of the davis group has increased by ten to fifteen percent every year.

Because of this, Liam the man becomes even more mysterious to onlookers.

Luna works for a magazine and is exposed to a lot of financial stuff, so it makes sense that she would be interested in Liam.

It's just that Evelyn's impression of Liam is very superficial.

In my previous life, I knew him from newspapers, magazines, and television.

Not long ago, his shoulder brushed against him at the entrance to the private elevator.

On a normal day, she rarely had the opportunity to have direct contact with Liam, and on the top floor of the Davis group building, the only two people who were regularly summoned by their boss were Scarlett and Benjamin.

These two big secretaries of the president and two secretarial assistants under them are, to put it nicely, secretarial assistants, but to put it bluntly, they are indeed all miscellaneous.

They do a lot of things, including running errands, delivering materials, making coffee, ordering lunch, etc., and they do it all.

When the company has a large CASE, they have to work late into the night with their boss.

So when Luna asks her what the boss of Davis's group really likes, his horoscope, blood type, height, and weight, she can only give one answer - she doesn't know.

She's not interested in men like Liam.

That person was like a bright moon hanging high in the sky, looking noble and cold but not something an earthly person like her could easily color.

The only thing that bothers her a little is that, according to the circular trajectory of her last life, it won't be long before Liam's death.

Whether that person was dead or alive was none of her business, but an indescribable regret rose vaguely in the back of her mind.

It is indeed a great loss to the financial world when such an unattainable figure passes away.

"Asher, what the hell do you mean? We've been together for three months, and you're coming here now to tell me that things aren't right between us?"

A sudden roar broke the original tranquility of the Western Restaurant.

Looking over at the high-pitched voice, he saw a young man and woman sitting across from each other at a neighboring table.

The woman was gorgeous, had a hot body, and was dressed in a peach-colored dress that was stylish from top to bottom.

As for the one sitting opposite the beautiful woman, it was a handsome-looking young man.

Even if burned to ashes, Evelyn will never forget that face.

Asher

The boyfriend she spent three whole years within her last life.

He loves to play, laugh, and joke and is a naturally active person.

When he was in school, he was the man of the hour in college; when he was at work, he was the Prince Charming of the company.

His father is a college professor, and his mother is an attending physician in the cardiology department of a private hospital.

He has a superior family background, proud looks, good speech, outstanding ability, no matter from which angle to analyze, he has enough capital to make women crazy for it, until death do us part.

Unfortunately, right now, Asher really doesn't look much different to Evelyn than a fly that just flew away from a turd.

The brawl continues over there.

In fact, it was the pretty woman who started the fight from the beginning.
