Chapter 4

Chapter 4

HIS mood is lifted again. . . I guess this is not the right time to die.

Sam keeps on telling himself that he should die—but because of this paper, his world is turning up and not down.

This is his dream ever since he is in high school and listening to the people that are speaking before. Sam is curious about what it is like to be in an international school, so he decided to take the scholarship.

The young man gasped in desperate hope. “Finally—“ his word is interrupted by his ringing phone.

His eyes gazed on the phone as the CEO is calling him. A moment of silence for him, as he is holding his android phone.

His thumb is weak, and he can’t answer it—the call ended. However, the shiver sends throughout his spine when it called again.

He picks it up and gradually put the phone onto his left ear.

“H-Hello?” he is stuttering as the voice is different. It sounds just like the murderer’s voice on television.

Sam keeps on listening to the deaf silence until it speaks on the line.

“There is a paper and an electronic e-signature machine beneath the computer at the entrance,” the CEO said to him, and he hovers his sight to the computer.

Sam walks with his paper with him, and his footsteps halted when he is in front of the computer.

He looked down and witnessed a paper with a contract agreement. He is new to this kind of process and never in his life. . . he is disturbed and nervous like this moment.

“Did you see it?”

Sam took a heavy breath before answering, “yes. . . S-Sir.”

The CEO on the other line grins and then waits for the screen to appear his signature.

“Good boy, read the contract first and if you agree with it—sign on the computer screen.”

As he said, the computer screen turns into a different operating system, and his hands get the paper.

Sam read it comprehensively before he put the paper on the table and ask an inquiry.

“Sir? W-What is the diamond that is mentioned here?” he asked with a tense voice. The CEO chuckled, “that is the e-money, and you can convert it into cash.”

“C-Cash? Are you kidding me—“

“Do you think I am fooling around Mr. Sam Style Ramos?” his voice turned serious, which makes the chills crawl to his skin and system.

He is agreeing with this, and he asks again before signing, “one more question Sir.”

He is like a puppy on the side of the computer. The CEO is smiling as he speaks, “yes, what is it? Don’t be shy to ask me. . . you will be working under my name.”

Sam is picking up himself, “why I am choosing between the two—“

His words are cut when the CEO laugh, “did you see already that you are now the live broadcaster inside the Bussage International School!”

He is puzzled for a moment until his right hand is signing on the pad. It appears in real-time on the screen of the CEO.

Cameron Alfred Bussage is the CEO of the CAM application and a member of the Bussage International University director’s board. Sam didn’t have any idea who is he talking with this time.

He put the pen down and sighed, “I am now done Sir,” he said on the line, and the CEO cut the line. Cameron is happy that he has now a hot streamer.

Sam leaves the library silent and dazed. Oh well, this is great. I still need a considerable amount for the bill inside the hospital.

When thinking of it, he walks up to the comfort room to pee. His nervousness is stressing out his urethra. Upon going out of the comfort room—he bumps into a man that is going inside.

He is alarmed because of this virus. Sam immediately distanced himself from the man, but it chuckles at him.

He walks to the cubicle as Sam is washing his hands and taking off his mask.

The man speaks inside, “do you think I have a virus—we are just two inside this comfort room.”

Sam scoffs and whispers to himself, two my ass.

He may be shy, but he is cursing too inside of his head. The man goes out and then silently joined him at the washing area. He is socially distanced at him.

Mike is startled when he sees a handsome young man in the reflection of the mirror. It feels like a spark between his eyes, but Sam is not looking at him despite his beautiful face.

The pride of Mike Bautista is a little bit hurt because of that. He clears his throat, but the other one is still not looking at him.

Mike scoffs as he supports his hand on the mirror and bravely faces his direction with confidence.

“I guess you are not paying respect to your seniors?” he said, but the other one is not flinching—it is because Sam doesn’t care even a little bit.

He walks out from the washing area. . . but the hand of Mike gripped on his wrist.

Sam’s heart is throbbing in fear because of this uncomfortable feeling. They are just two inside the comfort room. . . what if he will punch him? What if it will do evil to him? What if he will kill him inside?!

He keeps thinking those phrases, but the stupid ass Mike goes in front of him and grabs his identification card.

He is tightening his jaws as he read it aloud.

“Sam Style Bautista. . . I don’t hear your name here, and I guess you are at the same faculty as me. Faculty of Civil Engineering—it is hard right?” he asked him, looking directly to his soft eyes.

Sam looks in the other direction—he is blushing because of the shyness that he is feeling right now.

“E-Excuse me, S-Sir,” he is stuttering to go out and leave Mike inside speechless.

Nevertheless, he looks at the folder that he is holding. Mike’s heart flutters when he sees the logo of the CAM application embedded. He can’t believe his eyes, and he wears his mask after going out.

SAM goes to the hospital, and his sick grandmother is patiently waiting for him. Upon walking inside the room—his grandmother and mother are having a conversation with the consultant.

“Based on the CT SCAN of grandma, she had another plenty amount of water inside of her stomach. We will do paracentesis this afternoon.”

“Thank you doc, please do your best for my mother,” Liezl replied as the Doctor sighed then patted her shoulder.

“I will now leave. . . be strong grandma.”

Sam put the folder and his shoulder bag on the small couch. “Sam?” grandma Georgia calls his name as he goes to her after sanitizing his hands.

A kiss on her forehead is the one welcoming her. It is soothing that the pain of her body is slowly being taken away. Her lovely grandson asked her, “are you now okay Nay?”

A smile created on her face, “yes. . . I am okay, do you eat?” she asked, and Sam whines.

“Not yet—maybe later?” he answered, and his grandmother smells the appetizing food.

“That is my favorite fish dish. . . if I can eat that, I will,” there is something inside of his chest that pinches him when hearing those words from her.

He gasped, “okay I will eat it,” Sam smiled and ate the dish even he is not into fishes. He doesn’t like the fishy smell and taste of it ever since he is hospitalized with an amoeba.

His mother breaks the silence inside, “I will now go to work, Sam here is the money—buy the things that the Doctor needs."

Sam utterly replies, “Ma, I already bought it last night.” His mother has gazed, “Ah. . . O-Okay, I will be back tonight. Nay, I will go for now, recover soon.”

His mother leaves the room, and both of them are left inside. Her grandma speaks, “I wanted to listen to the online mass.”

While he is sitting, he gets his phone and then turned on his data for his grandma to listen. She is a religious type of person—devoting all of her sick days to the Lord.

Nanay Georgia is still strong, but only her mind keeps going. Her body is slowly failing to support her dreams.

“Your Kabiven will be out soon. . . I will buy another one when I ask the Doctor while he is getting your ascites.”

She is busy praying and listening to the word of God. Sam, on the other hand, finished the cleaning of plates inside the comfort room.

He walks straight to the couch and read the intriguing choices for his career. He needs to think carefully and need to talk with the CEO.

Because his phone is not on him—Sam decided to open his laptop while waiting for the Doctor to come. He sighed, and when opening the site of CAM, he is now seeing some streamers.

[Welcome to CAM, find your ideal streamer!]

It is the banner of the application as he is reading it. Sam hears a whimpering sound from his grandmother again. He rushes to the bathroom to get her bowl.

All his life—he never expected that his grandmother would be like this. But who knows, right? Sometimes we don’t know what God is giving to us—there is only one clear answer that he gave, which is to trust his plans.

It is so hard to deal with a cancer patient. You must not let them be alone and keep an eye on them every single minute of their life.

Once his other grandmother said to him, “Cancer is the miracle sickness of God. It is up to him if he will let them survive or not.

Those times when he always recalls that phrase—Sam eventually cries alone in his room.

Desolate and helpless, a poor young man and he is having this kind of situation. The door opened, and the Doctor with a nurse prepares the procedure.

Sam goes to his grandmother and clutches her hand tight. She is scared of his big syringe.

Sam left out a heavy sigh as the Doctor is pinpointing it, and he speaks after cleaning the skin.

“I will inject grandma,” he caresses the bloated stomach, and the syringe goes through, and ascites goes out for the second time. It is light yellow in color like cooking oil.

Sam hugs his grandmother, and the Doctor ordered him to be observed again. He nodded, and they waited for almost two hours.

Sam’s lips parted when he does not see that much of changes. He blinked twice and looked in the direction of her lying, grandma.

He calls the Doctor, and they are disassembling the things. Sam goes to the comfort room and vomits on the toilet bowl! His stress is making his acid go high and making his hope goes down lower than his shoes.

NO! NO! T-THIS CAN’T BE! LORD, PLEASE HELP NANAY TO RECOVER!

The Doctor calls him, and he cleans himself as he wears his mask before going outside of the room.

He is embracing himself to another stress that the Doctor will say to him. Upon reaching outside, the Doctor honesty talks to him.

“Where is your Mother?” he asked, and he replied, “she goes to work.”

Their consultant holds his shoulder as he looked to it tensely, “because you are the only one here. I am advising you to be strong.”

Sam’s body is trembling, and his chest might burst out. He is holding back his tears because of this negative news.

“Y-Yes Doc, I-I will,” Sam keeps on stuttering because he is constraining himself to listen to the truth.

“We need to undergo Nanay to an operation as soon as possible.”
