Chapter 2

Chapter 2

It is still better that you don't know anything than to know everything, but you can't do something.

"C-Call the nurses," Liezl panicked because she knows that it is so painful from her face and vomit tone.

Sam is holding back his tears—as he goes to the nurse station.

In a matter of minutes of negotiation, he had them back as they check her grandmother. Sam cannot do anything but to watch—his feet feel like gelatin in softness.

An exact amount of ampul is given to her.

"Everything will be okay," the nurse said to them, even this has always been the same for months.

"Nay?" Sam called her name, but she leans on her bed.

"Sam, can you make it lower?" she requested, and in an instant, his loving grandson adjusted the bed.

"It is better," she said, and the hand of him stopped. He smiled at her grandma, "you can sleep now."

AFTER Sam finished his dinner, a nurse goes inside the room.

"Sir, please buy this as the doctor prescribed for grandma," she smiled as she goes outside and leaves him hanging with the paper.

His mother gets her wallet and pulls out some amount of money. "Buy it right now outside—the hospital will charge us a lot when we will buy it from them."

She has a point, and Sam gets his jacket, face shield, and a protective mask—as the Covid-19's vaccine is still in process.

"I will go Mom," he said as he goes outside. He uses the elevator alone, but his seconds stopped when a stranger pulls the closing elevator door at his age.

No, he is somewhat older than him. . . a two-year gap from him. The man takes off his mask, and Sam's heart skipped a beat.

He is so handsome that his face is flustered in red. He gulped as the man beside him laugh, "when will this freaking virus ends?"

Sam didn't reply because he is an introvert this time. The man looks at him, "what is your connection to that patient?" he asked him again, and he is fidgeting his phone.

The man beside him chuckled awkwardly.

"Ugh! There is no signal here," he keeps on making a fuss until they walk to the ground floor and wear his mask.

"Oh! I see, when will you launch the app?" he asked to the phone—the one that he is talking while walking up to the front door.

Sam rushes up to the drug store, and his introverted personality is kicking again. He wanted to keep on interacting, but his depression is making him less talkative.

"Grocery or pharmacy?" the guard asked him at the entrance, but he doesn't reply.

He faces the lonely road and takes off his mask. "Ah! I can't breath fine with this mask!" he nags to himself, and the man on the other side of the road is stunned when seeing his adorable face.

It is an old man, and Sam immediately noticed he is looking at him. He gulped as he goes inside the drug store!

His heart is pumping, W-Will he kidnaps me?! He keeps thinking crazy things—maybe it is because he has been inside a stressful environment for a month. He sighed as he is filling up the information sheet. The guard gives him a card number, and then he walks inside.

Sam waited for abruptly ten minutes because of this current situation.

"Number 50? Number 50—"

"Miss. . . "he said to her, and the pharmacist asked him.

He brings up the prescribed medicines for his grandmother—he is patiently waiting for it. His eyes widen when the bill already five digits! He is stunned for a couple of seconds.

"Sir? Did you have a senior card with you?" she asked him. "Ahh. . . Y-Yes!" Sam panicked when he is groping for it. Finally, he found it.

The cashier smiled, and his chest is relieved when the bill tremendously goes down. He sighed, "thanks God," that is the only word that comes out of his mouth when he picked up the medicines needed.

"Thank you Sir come again!"

Sam is happily walking because he knows that her grandmother's life will be extended for some time. In an isolated hallway—he is stepping up to the nursing station to bring the requested medicines.

As of the moment, his phone is vibrating. He blinks twice because no one knows his number except his Mom and Grandmother.

His body is trembling in fear. . . fear that he never felt this time around. He breathes deep and exhales loudly. He pulls out his phone from the pocket, and his eyes widen when he reads a message from an unknown number.

From: Unknown

[Hello, would you like to join my newly launched application named CAM?]

His head is confused and full of uncertainty. His hands are shaking when he doesn't know what to reply.

[Who are you? Where did you get my number?]

With all of his courage, he replied, but it responds to him in a matter of minutes.

From: Unknown

[It doesn't matter anymore; I found you hot and qualified. Are you interested? I can rest assure you will have a decent amount of money.]

His mouth parted in mixing excitement and nervousness. He cannot believe that someone will offer him something like this. However, Sam is clouding some crazy thoughts.

What if this is a scam? Will he get my pictures? Where did he get my number? Oh gosh! What should I do?

He keeps talking to himself, and his goosebumps appear on the surface of his skin when a voice calls him!

"Sam?" his Mom walks to him.

"Sleep first—so you can change me in the early morning," Liezl said as she pats the shoulder of his handsome son.

Sam closed his phone and not replying to the message. He walks to the room and sleeps.

HOURS later, his Mom wakes him up. "Sam? Did you get a decent sleep?" she asked as his son is squeezing his eyes.

"Uhm. . . I get, you can sleep now," Sam replied to his mother, and she sleeps on the small couch.

"Oh. . . before I forgot, I already nebulize Nanay when you are sleeping. She is now asleep also."

Sam nodded, and it is already three in the morning. He opened his laptop and searched for an online job that he can get to help his mother out. Until when he opened a site—a familiar name of an application caught his attention.

He is startled when a message popped out from the edge of his laptop's screen.

Sam is a little bit nervous about opening it, but he desperately needs for money. The operation of his grandmother needs a considerable amount.

His eyes are going to pop when an unknown sender messaged him.

[Hello, Mr. Sam Ramos. This is the CEO of the newly announced CAM: The Hottest Streamer application. We are hoping to work with you—as we know that you are qualified. Reply to this message if you are interested.]
