Chapter 4. Breakup

4. Breakup

Wynter was shocked to see Sean with Suzy by his side as he exited the car, and fear gripped her, worrying that something terrible had happened to him. The situation took an even more surprising turn when Sean openly kissed Suzy in the middle of the college, seemingly unconcerned about being seen. This behavior was in stark contrast to how he usually avoided being near Wynter at college and emphasized the risk of being noticed.

Wynter, paralyzed by shock, struggled to comprehend what she witnessed. Tears welled up in her eyes, and her heart broke into pieces. Despite her initial shock, she mustered her courage and decided to confront Sean. Even as Wynter approached, Sean remained with Suzy, unmoved.

"S-Sean, what's happening here?" Wynter questioned him, her voice filled with a mix of confusion and anger. However, Sean stayed silent, offering no explanation to Wynter's probing.

"Sean, come with me. We need to talk," Wynter stated firmly, leading the way to a secluded area where they could have some privacy for their conversation.

Alone together, Wynter confronted Sean, demanding answers. "Tell me now if this is some kind of cruel joke you're playing on me."

"No, Wynter, I'm sorry, but I love Suzy," Sean responded flatly, his words causing Wynter's world to crumble beneath her feet.

Wynter's emotions were running high as she confronted Sean about his sudden change of heart. "What are you talking about, Sean? Do you even hear yourself? You told me you loved me, that you were my boyfriend, and Suzy was just a friend. And now this?" Wynter's frustration boiled over, raising her voice for the first time in their exchange.

Sean was taken aback by Wynter's unexpected reaction. He had anticipated her moving on after their breakup, not confronting him with such intensity. "Wynter, please, let me explain. I'm truly sorry for what I've done," Sean attempted to justify his actions, but Wynter cut him off, unwilling to hear his excuses.

"Sorry now? After all this time? I was worried sick about you, Sean, and now you return just to choose someone else. What's gotten into you?" Wynter challenged him, her voice tinged with hurt and betrayal. She couldn't fathom why he would make such a sudden shift in his feelings.

Frustrated and hurt, Wynter continued, "I fought for us, Sean. I defended our relationship to my parents, making excuses for why you couldn't meet them. I guess you never intended to meet them in the first place," she expressed, her voice heavy with disappointment.

Sean, with a pained expression, tried to convey his side of the story. "Wynter, please try to understand. I tried to love you, but my heart led me elsewhere. I have feelings for her that I can't deny. It started as friendship, but love grew unexpectedly. I'm truly sorry, Wynter," Sean's words carried a mix of regret and sincerity.

Wynter, wiping away her tears, questioned him, "What did she have that I didn't? This didn't happen overnight. Why lead me on if your heart was elsewhere?" The hurt and confusion in her voice were palpable. "I didn't force myself on you," she added, struggling to comprehend the sudden turn of events.

"Wynter, I initially thought dating a wealthy girl like Travis King's daughter would be advantageous, but I chose you because I admired your character but you are not my type. I genuinely tried to love you, but meeting Suzy changed everything. I now realize what true love is, and I'm sorry for letting you down. You're not the right fit for me, and I wish you well," Sean explained, his tone sincere yet regretful.

Wynter clenched her fists in frustration. "Not my type? You should have figured that out before taking my virginity and sleeping with me. You're claiming to have found true love after taking something so precious from me. You don't get to justify your actions. You had your lover and still chose to be with me, then talk about true love. Come up with a better excuse, Sean," Wynter's voice raised in anger and hurt.

"Wynter, what else could I have done? I couldn't resist the temptation. Let's not pretend you weren't equally willing," Sean retorted, rolling his eyes dismissively. Wynter, feeling a surge of anger and betrayal, couldn't take it anymore. Without a second thought, she raised her hand and delivered a resounding slap across Sean's face, the sound echoing in the tense atmosphere.

"Enough is enough, you've crossed the line. I regret ever putting my trust in you. You say I'm not your type, but it's you who doesn't deserve me. But tell me this, why did you disappear after the day you came to my place? Were you planning to get close to me again?" Wynter's voice echoed with a mix of anger and hurt as she tightly gripped Sean's collar, seeking answers.

"You know, after meeting your mother, I got scared, and I don't think I belong in your world of billionaires," Sean tried to justify his actions with a feeble excuse, but Wynter saw through his insincerity. His explanation only added to her disappointment and pain.

"Whatever happens, Sean, one day you'll realize what you've lost. The pain you caused me will come back to haunt you, just like your 'Blinded Dreams' that meant so much to me. You'll experience the same heartbreak," Wynter's words carried a weight of emotion and a tinge of bitterness as she cursed him, her voice filled with a mix of sorrow and anger.

"Whatever it may be, Wynter," Sean muttered softly as he distanced himself from the tense situation, leaving Wynter alone with her tears and shattered trust. Her heart heavy with the weight of betrayal, Wynter couldn't hold back her emotions anymore. This betrayal cut deep, leaving her bewildered and questioning where things went wrong.

She had given her all to earn his respect, going above and beyond to make him happy, only to be deceived by the same person she trusted. Her hopes and dreams for their future lay shattered, a painful reminder of the broken promises and shattered trust she now faced.

"Wynter," a classmate called out, and she hurried over. "Hey, are you okay? Why are you crying?" Jessica asked, showing concern for Wynter's emotional state.

She gently encouraged Wynter to stand. "Are you feeling alright? Do you have a fever? Would you like me to take you home?" Jessica kindly offered to give her a ride.

"No, I'm fine. Let's head to class," Wynter responded, preferring not to attract any attention. She simply wanted to get through the day to find solace in her bedroom.

Despite being in class, Wynter found herself unable to focus on the lectures as usual. Her mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Sean and the worried expressions of her parents.

She regretted not confiding in them earlier and wished she had heeded their advice before making a significant decision. Additionally, she felt foolish for falling for Sean's false love story and failing to see through his deception.

Wynter's mind became overwhelmed with overthinking, causing a throbbing headache. She tried to refocus by blinking rapidly during the lecture, but her efforts were in vain. The room seemed to spin around her, and suddenly, darkness enveloped her, leading to her falling from her seat.

The commotion startled everyone nearby. The teacher quickly intervened, deciding to contact Wynter's parents without delay. Upon receiving the call, Sabrina rushed to the hospital where Wynter was receiving treatment.

When Sabrina received the call, she panicked and went to the hospital where Wynter was being treated.

As soon as they saw her, "Mrs. King," Jessica, and Wynter's professor approached her.

"She fainted in class, Mrs. King, and Jessica found her crying before the lecture," the professor explained concisely.

Curious about the cause of Wynter's distress, Sabrina turned to Jessica. "What was she crying about?" she asked.

"I'm not sure, Mrs. King. I asked her, but she didn't want to talk about it," Jessica replied, her brow furrowed in concern. Sabrina struggled to comprehend what could be troubling Wynter.

She rushed inside and let out a sigh of relief when the doctor assured her that Wynter was okay and just needed some rest. Travis, who had gotten the call while wrapping up with Hunter, hurried to the hospital and joined Sabrina. Concerned about his sister, Hunter asked, "What happened to my Wyn Wyn, Mama Iris?" Sabrina reassured him, explaining that Wynter had simply collapsed due to exhaustion and hunger.

Travis, seeking further reassurance, inquired about Wynter's condition. The doctor confirmed that there was nothing to worry about, mentioning that Wynter was just tired and upset over something they could discuss with her when she woke up. Satisfied with the doctor's response, Travis thanked him and Wynter soon opened her eyes.

Approaching his daughter, Travis felt relieved to see her unharmed. Wynter, still recovering, was troubled by memories of her breakup with Sean flashing through her mind. The emotional turmoil from the breakup seemed to have taken a toll on her, leading to her collapse. It was evident that the situation with Sean had deeply affected her, causing distress even in her vulnerable state.

"Baby, don't worry about anything, just relax, okay?" Sabrina comforted Wynter. Feeling overwhelmed, Wynter requested some alone time, hoping to gather her thoughts. Sabrina and Travis, sensing Wynter's distress, exchanged knowing glances, understanding that something was troubling her deeply.

Alone in her room, Wynter's emotions overflowed, and tears streamed down her face as she grappled with the pain of betrayal from Sean. Her shattered dreams of a future with him weighed heavily on her heart, causing immense hurt and sadness.

The following day, back home, Wynter distanced herself, burying herself in her studies to cope with the heartache. With exams approaching, she threw herself into her academics, using it as a shield to avoid confronting her emotions. Sabrina and Travis, concerned yet patient, decided to give her space until after her exams to have a heartfelt conversation with her.

As Wynter immersed herself in her studies, the last day of exams approached, bringing a sense of relief that she would soon be free from the academic pressures. Looking ahead, Wynter envisioned a future free from tension, where she could open her heart to someone deserving of her love, ready to move past the pain of her past relationship and embrace new beginnings.

Wynter, feeling nauseated and dizzy after finishing her studies, struggled to maintain her composure. The room spun around her, and she clung to the table for support, trying to shake off the dizziness to no avail. Rushing to the restroom, she emptied her stomach, feeling overwhelmed by the sudden wave of sickness.

Realizing she hadn't had her period for nearly a month, panic set in as she considered the possibility of what might be wrong. Fearing the worst, she couldn't shake the thought that she might be pregnant, a situation she wasn't prepared for, especially without a father figure for the child.

Anxiously awaiting the delivery of the pregnancy kit she ordered online, Wynter's mind raced with worry. When the tests finally arrived, she nervously retreated to her room, taking each test with trembling hands, hoping for a negative result.

The moment of truth arrived as she checked the results, her heart sinking as all five tests showed positive. Wynter gasped, stunned by the overwhelming reality before her.
