Chapter 2. Sean

2. Sean

Sean eagerly awaited Wynter's arrival, as was his routine, to catch a glimpse of her before heading to their lessons.

"Hey Sean," greeted Wynter cheerfully as she embraced him. Sean reciprocated by gently rubbing her back.

"You seem quite cheerful today," Sean remarked, noticing Wynter's upbeat demeanor.

"Oh, just Hunter and I having our usual fun teasing Harris," Wynter chuckled, reminiscing about the morning's events. Her mornings typically involved banter with Sabrina, followed by affectionate gestures.

Sean chuckled, "Poor guy, always getting into trouble because of you two."

Although Sean had never met any of Wynter's family members, he was familiar with the 'Kings.'

Despite Wynter's persistent invitations to introduce him to her family, Sean consistently declined, leaving everyone puzzled about his reasons.

"Come on, we're running late," Sean urged as he grasped her hand and led the way to their classes.

Their public displays of affection, like holding hands and occasional kisses, had become second nature to them. However, their bond deepened significantly in private moments.

"So, you're starting your surgery practicals today?" Wynter inquired, showing interest in Sean's medical school activities.

Sean, also pursuing a career in cardiology at the same school, had to part ways with Wynter as they headed towards their respective wings.

"I must admit, I'm a bit nervous. It's my first time observing a heart surgery up close," Sean confessed.

"Have you tried watching some relevant videos?" Wynter asked, showing her support and understanding.

"Yeah, but it's quite different from the real thing. After all, you were in my shoes just a few days ago," Sean chuckled, reminiscing about Wynter's recent experiences.

"No, I wasn't worried. Mama Iris offered me some advice on how to be calm in situations like this, and there is a difference between conducting surgery on humans and performing surgery on animals, no pun intended. Not to mention that you are going to operate on someone's heart by cutting up their body; at the very least, we have dealt with things like surgery on an animal's leg injuries and such," Wynter expressed, furrowing her brow in contemplation.

"Let's see how this goes," Sean responded casually, waving off Wynter's concerns as he proceeded towards his class.

Wynter, known for her amiable nature and extensive circle of friends, was like the girl next door who made everyone feel at ease. Despite her sociable demeanor, she confided in only one person, Sabrina, whom she considered her closest companion.

Attending her lessons diligently, Wynter took notes and mentally prepared for her upcoming examinations, as she aspired to become a veterinary doctor.

Travis, Wynter's father, had meticulously arranged for her to have her own hospital, ensuring she wouldn't have to seek employment elsewhere. Despite Wynter's refusal of his assistance, citing her desire to establish her career independently, Sabrina advocated for accepting their support, emphasizing the hard work they had put in for their children's future. Sabrina emotionally appealed to Wynter, highlighting their efforts to secure a prosperous future for their daughter.

Wynter pondered briefly before agreeing, rationalizing that her parents served as a foundation for her to build upon independently. She intended to work for others and share a portion of her earnings wherever she went. Opting to follow the same principle here, she decided to allocate a part of her income to charitable organizations.

Upon completing her classes, she lingered on campus for an hour, anticipating news about Sean's first surgery.

After some time had passed, Sean, unaware that Wynter was waiting, assumed she had departed as usual. To his surprise, Wynter remained on this particular day.

Wynter was taken aback when she saw Sean exit with the sensible blonde he supposedly called his 'Friend.' Their proximity exceeded the bounds of mere friendship; they seemed inseparable.

Every time Wynter waits for him, Sean justifies himself by saying that they are just friends, even though they are really close, but Sean thinks Wynter to be naive, and she believes Sean's falsehoods since she has a heart of gold.

Despite her insecurity as a result of their closeness, Wynter decides to trust Sean, her life's beloved.

Wynter and Sean met in first-year classes and have been in a relationship for the past two years after declaring their feelings.

Wynter, despite feeling insecure due to their close bond, ultimately decides to place her trust in Sean, the love of her life.

Their relationship began in their first-year classes, where they confessed their feelings for each other, leading to a two-year journey together.

"Hey, Wynter, you're still here?" Sean's surprise was evident as he noticed Wynter's presence.

He quickly released the blonde woman's hand, attempting to hide any annoyance at seeing Wynter.

"I didn't expect to see you. How was your day?" Wynter asked, offering a warm smile to the blonde, whose name she couldn't recall.

"It was great, Suzy," Sean replied, stealing a glance at the woman.

"Alright, I have to go now... I'll catch up with you later," she said to Sean, giving him a meaningful look before leaving.

"So, what's the plan now?" Sean sneered at Wynter, a familiar expression on his face.

"I have to study for my exams," Wynter explained.

"Or we could head to my place and continue from where we left off last time," Sean suggested.

Sean annoyed her since he was too focused on Wynter's body and didn't care about her mood or how she would react to it. He wanted what he wanted. Even though they had sex, Wynter was still too afraid to open out to him, and everything was in the heat of the moment, and it was only a one-time thing that Wynter regretted later.

Wynter would later regret not informing her parents about her connection with him because she felt she was breaching their trust, but she also thought her parents were always supportive and Sean was the love of her life, so she was doing the right thing.

"No, I gotta go start getting ready. Mama Iris wanted me home early for a family dinner tonight. I might not be able to hang out with you until after the exams are over. I waited today to catch up on your day," she responded calmly.

"What! Come on, we still have a month before the exams," he scowled.

"Yeah, that's all we've got, just a month," Wynter, not exactly a bookworm, would buckle down when the exam dates were near. Until then, studying wasn't a top priority for her.

"Alright, this month is gonna be tough for me," he grumbled, secretly thrilled inside.

"You should study too," Wynter said, smiling.

"I'll try," he mumbled as he hugged her goodbye.

Wynter got into her car and drove home.

Sean breathed a sigh of relief once Wynter was out of sight; he had other plans with Suzy and didn't enjoy Wynter's presence there.

It became evident that Sean was only with Wynter for superficial reasons, lusting after her looks and status. He knew who she was and expected her to help him advance in life.

He was like a predator, solely interested in Wynter's body. Once he achieved his goal of taking her virginity and exploiting her innocence, he moved on to someone else.

Wynter, though naive, never truly felt content after being with Sean. However, she convinced herself that he was the love of her life, a sentiment she believed was common among couples.

She made up her mind to confide in her parents, hoping that sharing her feelings would ease the discomfort in her heart.

"Mama Iris, I'm back," Wynter announced as she entered the house.

"Wyn Wyn," Hunter rushed down the stairs.

"Be careful, sweetie, you might slip," Wynter cautioned.

Hunter approached Wynter and hugged her. "Where did Mama Iris go?" Wynter inquired.

"Don't know. She said you should call her once you're home," Hunter replied as he took Wynter's bag to her room, a routine he often followed.

Wynter reached for her phone and dialed Sabrina's number.

"Mama Iris," Wynter said as soon as Sabrina answered the call.

"Wynter, are you back?" Sabrina asked.

"I just got home. Where are you now?" Wynter inquired. "Hunter mentioned you left quickly."

"Yes, sweetheart, we're in Chicago. Mr. Adam wasn't feeling well, so we decided to pay him a visit. Nio and I flew there this morning," Sabrina explained.

Mr. Adams was Sabrina's trusted manager and had worked closely with Sabrina's father.

"When are you coming back?" Wynter asked.

"We planned to stay here for a few days to investigate the business. Do you want to come along? I can purchase the tickets, and maybe you, Harris, and Hunter can come, and we can organize a family vacation to distract ourselves from the commotion," Sabrina suggested.

"No way, I have exams next month, Mama Iris, and I can't afford to waste any more time. How about we go on vacation once they're finished?" Wynter proposed.

Sabrina groaned. "Okay, there's no way you'll agree to it, so we'll attempt to return as soon as possible."

"I already miss you," Wynter said as she went into the kitchen to get a glass of water for herself.

"I miss you too, baby, and take care of Hunter, though I had instructed Nanny Ann everything."

Mrs. Ann was Wynter's nanny, and she is like a family member to Sabrina and the one stranger she trusts with her children.

Despite their home being heavily guarded and surrounded by bodyguards on all sides, Sabrina would go to great lengths to protect her family due to a significant incident.

"Okay, I'll see you there, and don't worry, like you usually do, we'll get food from JKs and behave ourselves," Wynter quipped on Sabrina's behalf, and the mother-daughter duo chuckled at Wynter's jokes.

"Okay, I'll leave you to it, and no junk. It's better if I ask them not to send it," Sabrina added.

"Come on, Mama Iris, JKs don't sell junk," Wynter burst out laughing.

Sabrina's father founded JKs, a restaurant company noted for its high quality and service.

"Okay, Mark and Chris will arrive later in the evening. I hope they don't ruin everything for you," Wynter could hear Sabrina scoffing.

"Yay," Wynter exclaimed.

"Okay, that was a lot for you. Tell Harris to call me when he gets back. I love you."

"I will. Love you too," Wynter dismissed the call.

Wynter went to check on Ellies, and the little boy, as usual, enjoyed his time with the family.

As Sabrina previously stated, the couple (Mark and Chris) arrived with several items, as they often did when visiting the kings.

They both regarded Sabrina's children as their own because they couldn't have their own children. They were going to adopt a child but were delayed because they believed they should take on responsibility only when they were absolutely prepared, and until then, they had kings to shower them with love.

"Aunt Chris, Uncle Mike," Wynter would always refer to Mark as Mike, which he enjoyed.

"Hey doll," Mark said as he hugged her.

"Uncle Chris," Harris continued to meet them and, as usual, inquired about business matters, boring the crap out of everyone with his business jargon.

They all had a good time watching a horror movie after Chris had put Hunter to sleep, and Mark had purchased Wynter and Hunter their favorite ice cream.

"Thank you for coming, Aunt Chris; we had a fantastic time," Wynter and Harris said as they bid them farewell.

"Come on, Kiddos, why are you being so formal?" they said as they hugged them and kissed their cheeks as they exited the building.

After two days, Sean discovers that Sabrina is not at home. Wynter was studying when she heard a knock on her window.

Wynter opened the window, shocked. She was astounded to see Sean clinging to a pipe.

"What are you doing here, Sean?" Wynter asked as she drew him inside.

A sensible person would suggest that he had better options for showing up or that he could utilize the balcony that was directly next to the window instead.

"I missed you," Sean said as he hugged her.

It was the first time he had shown up at Wynter's house, and it was the first time he had shown up when her parents were not around.

"But we saw each other this morning," Wynter pointed out.

"Yeah, but I wanted to see you," he explained.

Wynter realized she was being impolite to him and decided to greet him.

They began talking to each other, and one thing led to another, and things quickly became hot. Sean started to lean in to kiss Wynter. Their lips were about to touch.
