With that, Olivia, surrounded by a group of girls behind her who were either envious, jealous, or resentful, followed the maid to a room that had already been prepared.
The maid had a glass of wine in her hand and handed it to Olivia.
Olivia looked at Emma, who was walking at the end of the line, and the other woman pinched her nose as if she could hardly stand the smell of her.
Honestly, Olivia now felt like the prolonged cold had robbed her of her sense of taste, and she couldn't smell anything on her at all.
"Drink."
Clenching her teeth too tightly to resist, Olivia picked up the goblet in front of her and tilted her head back in a deadly gulp.
Emma was laughing so hard next to her that she was almost holding the wall." Haha, look at you looking at death; this is the medicine that will cure what's wrong with you, haha."
Olivia didn't say anything; she felt like the red liquid she drank shouldn't have been wine because it tasted a bit like blood.
But she had to admit that after drinking the cup of whatever the hell it was, she felt as if her body had become cozy and warm, and the pain and tingling from the frostbite seemed to have disappeared.
Olivia stared wide-eyed at her hand, which was healing at a rate visible to the naked eye!
This is something that materialism cannot explain!
Once again, Olivia felt her worldview begin to crumble.
Emma grunted in satisfaction.
"Throw her in the bathroom and clean her up."
With that, Emma's slender figure disappeared into the room.
After a quick wash, Olivia stepped out of the bathroom and changed into a short maid's skirt that whoever had prepared it barely reached the base of her thighs, and she felt that if she bent over just a little bit, she would be in the springtime.
The body was also sprayed with a perfume that was not pungent, smelled strong, and had a freshness to it, two contradictory words that nonetheless described the smell well.
Emma appeared behind her unnoticed at some point and reached out to put her hands on her shoulders, smiling.
"Baby, trust me, tomorrow you're gonna be the favorite lamb at the party," she whispered with her perfumed lips close to Olivia's ear. "Don't be afraid; becoming the gang's pet is the best way out for you."
With that said, she patted Olivia's shoulder gently and turned to leave.
As the other maids left with Emma, Olivia sat in front of the huge vanity mirror; she could feel the group of maids looking at her with envy, as if jealous that she was the pet of a high vampire noble.
But as a 21st-century girl, Olivia doesn't think that's a good thing.
She tugged at her short maid's skirt; it wasn't too cold indoors, but it was so short she had trouble getting into it.
She was still in a state of ignorance, but there was nothing she could do but wait for tomorrow's judgment.
Thinking so, she stood up, opened the door to her room, and walked out. Sure enough, she saw a few maids in the hallway; Olivia hurriedly walked over, grabbed a random maid, and asked.
Where's Emma, please?
The maid narrowed her eyes at her, jealousy in her eyes as she shook off Olivia's hand and prepared to leave.
Olivia had to stop the maid again and was just about to say something when Emma's voice came from behind her.
"I advise you not to waste your efforts; I don't know how many humans like you I've dealt with here. If that's all it takes for you to get away, then I'd simply quit my job or go for a blood swap to turn myself into a human as well." After saying that, Emma let out a cold grunt, seemingly amused by her own thoughts.
"I'm not trying to run away; I just wanted to ask if you had any books over there that would give me an idea of what to expect from tomorrow's guests?" Olivia bit her lip and tried to act scared and timid." I'm worried about accidentally offending them tomorrow, and I'm nervous."
Emma then raised her eyes to survey her." Don't worry; you'll be fine even if you offend them. You're too pretty for them to kill you."
Emma lifted Olivia's face again, and she could clearly see Olivia's golden pupils glistening in the sunlight.
"Are you really human?" Emma couldn't help but ask aloud. Truth be told, she had seen plenty of human women and even more vampire nobles, but even those vampire nobles who were known for their handsomeness were hardly prettier than Olivia.
But Emma didn't wait for Olivia to answer before she yanked Olivia by the wrist and dragged her into her room.
"Sleep beautifully tonight; I'll make sure to dress you up tomorrow; you know that the people attending the banquet are either rich or noble; as long as you're seen by any of them, you'll really be clothed and fed."
"Right," as if she suddenly remembered something important. Emma's body, which was originally going to leave, suddenly turned around and said to Olivia in a slightly serious manner." Duke Samuel of the Tulip Duke Family will appear at tomorrow's banquet. Duke Samuel is very fond of young girls; you just need to seize this opportunity and let Duke Samuel take you back to his manor. Trust me, after that, you won't be a human with a humble status anymore."
Emma winks ambiguously at Olivia, which is why she decides to buy the beautiful human. Duke Samuel has always been generous, and if she can please him, Emma stands to gain immensely from the situation.
Olivia was not happy about Emma's words.
Intuition told her that this Duke Samuel must be a particularly cruel man, perhaps with some strange hobby. But right now, she didn't even know what this world was like, let alone how to escape.
Even Olivia doesn't know if she'll be able to survive in this underdog world afterward.
Olivia laughed bitterly and buried herself under the covers.
----
The next day, Olivia is dragged out of bed early by her maid, having had a rough night's sleep due to Emma's incident last night, and filled with fear of the unknown world and the Tulip Duke. She doesn't know how she crossed over.
Now she's just an ordinary, mediocre, soon-to-be-bottom-of-the-food-chain human.
Emma looked at Olivia's dark circles under her eyes and frowned in displeasure.
That's why those humans are really ugly, and it's easy to have dark circles under your eyes when you don't sleep well especially this beautiful human; the dark circles are really ugly.
Emma takes a glass of wine from the tray in the maid's hand and hands it to Olivia.
Olivia glanced at the liquid in her glass, and her instincts told her that it didn't seem to be the same as what she'd had last night.
