“I'll sleep on the floor” I informed him as soon as I ended the call.
“Sleep on the bed with me. I promise nothing is going to happen" Nathan replied weakly.
I didn't say a word. I climbed on the bed, laying next to him. I felt so uncomfortable. This was my first time spending the night at someone's house, but I just had to do it anyway. I laid there thinking of all the drama that happened today. It was crazy. We were literally backing each other.
“Thank you for agreeing to stay over, I really appreciate it” Nathan spoke almost in a whisper.
“It's okay, its part of my job” I whispered back.
The next morning, I woke up cuddling with Nathan. I quickly unwrapped myself from him. I laid down watching him sleep peacefully. He was perfect! His eyelids resting beautifully on his face as he breathed softly.
He blinked his eyes, then he opened them eventually.
“How long have you been staring?” He asked with a yawn.
“That's not the right pronunciation of good morning” I responded, then I crawled out of the bed.
“Thank you for sleeping over” he said.
“I've told it's okay. You don't have to thank me. How do you feel now?” I asked.
“All good, thanks. The headache is gone. I don't know what I would have done without you” I felt my cheeks flushed.
“Aww, see you're blushing” he laughed.
“Stop… That's ridiculous” and with that, I stepped out of his room.
Noah was surprised to see in their house this early and worst, in Nathan's polo and tattered hair. I had to explain to him that Nathan was seriously ill last night, so I had to stay.
“I assure you that nothing happened between us,” I explained.
The rest of the day was going well until Bianca showed up.
Personally, I was shocked because I thought they had broken up, and now she's here again.
“What do you want, Bianca?” Nathan demanded.
“I just want to apologize to you. I want us to talk things out. You haven't been picking my calls, and you even ignored my text, I was worried” She pleaded. Noah and I sat there watching the little drama that was happening already.
“Well get used to it because I have a new girlfriend” Nathan's response came rather like a shock to everyone, or was he just trying to mess around with Bianca?
His eyes traced me. “Liliana and I are now together, so you can just leave us alone” I was dumbfounded. I was confused. Nathan winked at me, and then it hit me he was playing games.
“Uhm yeahhh, we are together now” I swallowed my saliva, then I got up and sat next to Nathan. Bianca's facial expression switched from sadness to anger.
“How could you replace me with this girl from the slum?” She said, almost screaming. Rude!
“At least she won't go around fucking all my friends!” Nathan yelled back, then he wrapped his arms around my waist as kissed me on the lips. I stood there, frozen as hell.
I reciprocated the kiss. His lips were soft and they tasted like mints.
“Argh! And as for you, how dare you, huh? ” Bianca screamed at me, pointing a finger at me.
“You couldn't treat him right, so I stepped in, and now I'm healing him of all the bruises you gave him” I said with a small smile.
“I'm not finished yet with you” She spat angrily at me then she walked out of the house.
“Phew…that was impressive. We did a fantastic job” Nathan chuckled as soon as she was gone.
“Thank you for helping me out. I never thought you would kiss me back though” Nathan smirked as he sat back.
“We were acting, weren't we?” I responded as I sat back too.
“Finally!!” Noah said, waving both hands up.
“She's finally out of our lives. Goodbye to her dramas. I never liked her for you anyway” Noah said as Nathan laughed.
After work, Nathan offered to drive me home.
“I need to show you something” Nathan said as soon as we drove off the compound.
“We have to be quick though because I'm sure my mom is dead ass worried about me” Even though I was excited about the surprise, I was also worried about my mom. She hasn't stayed this long without seeing me.
Finally, we alighted at a spot. There were long benches, but it was pretty dark, but the sky shined brightly suppressing the darkness. The sight was beautiful, the stars were beautiful too. I closed my eyes slowly as I let the cool breeze blew over my hair. It was perfect! It was relaxing and peaceful.
“Bianca and I used to come here every time" He said as he took a seat. I joined him.
“It's a wonderful sight” I whispered.
“I know. This is also where I come to when I want to think, or I have plenty of things on my mind” He muttered as his lips broke into a weak smile.
“That was your first kiss, right?” He spoke, staring blankly into the darkness.
“Huh?” I pretended I didn't hear him. I was totally not looking up to this kind of conversation.
“The kiss we shared in the living room, was that your first kiss?” He asked again. I nodded.
“I know. I apologize for stealing your first kiss like that. I am sorry” He apologized, scratching his head. I was silent.
“That wasn't how your first kiss is supposed to be …” He paused as he turned to me, staring at my lips, then back at me. Was he about to kiss me again?
“This is how it's supposed to be…” He leaned closer, titling his head side wards, his lips met mine again. I didn't hesitate before kissing him back. Time froze. The world seized for us. It was perfect. He was perfect. I could live at this moment forever. The kiss came softly and gently, I couldn't have had it any other way. Slowly, I pushed him away as we tried to catch our breath.
“Now that's how your first kiss is supposed to be” I didn't say a word. I just smiled, enjoying the little moment.
Bianca really missed her chance. Nathan was good for her, so good enough for her, but she missed her shot.
“About the relationship thingy you said in the living room, you were joking, right?” I gasped, realizing how dumb I sounded. What was I thinking? Why would I even ask this silly, dumb question when it's obvious he was just playing with Bianca?
“Do you want us to be official?” Nathan returned the question.
“That's crazy. I don't even like you like that” I tried to laugh it out.
“Wow” he laughed.
Minutes later, we got into the car as he drove me home.
“You know, I like being around you. Your energy is so positive” He said as soon as I alighted the car.
“Got it from my mom. You should meet her, she's very funny too” I giggled like I child.
“Sure, maybe next time” he replied as he got back in the car.
“You should really be going. It's pretty late and cold” I said, trying to break the awkward silence.
“Okay. Goodnight” I stood there until he drove off sight.
I got in, and my mom was already sitting waiting for me.
“I missed you, mom” I hugged her from behind.
“I missed you more, sweetheart” My mom replied, rubbing my arm.
“I've been watching you and this boy closely, do you like him?” My mom asked as soon as we broke from the hug.
I faked a frown.
“What?” She laughed.
“I'm just asking a simple question. I can feel you like him because see the way you look all excited anytime he drives you home” My mom. I stared blankly into her innocence, if only she knew it was more than that. If only she knew we even shared a kiss today.
My mom waved her hand over my face, bringing me back from my thoughts.
“I'm going to take a bath. I am so tired” I faked a yawn, then I hurried away from my mom's presence.
