Selene did not join their conversation. She wasn’t a prude and she actually wanted to know what sex felt like, she did have heats but unmated omegas went through them alone, although they had a wide range of toys to use, so they weren’t complete strangers to sex but she didn’t mind saving her innocence for her future mate. Selene wondered what Tristan was doing right now, it was going to be his birthday soon, the alpha was turning twenty. In her head, she still remembered him from their last meeting but she knew he surely resembled more a man now than a kid. She could not wait to see him.

Oh my, look at you, how beautiful you’ve gotten,” Selene ’s mother greeted her child with tears in her eyes, looking at her in awe. She just got home, the two years abroad have passed and Selene and her friends have returned back home.

“You are too tanned,” her father clicked his tongue after he greeted his daughter as well, not really happy about her skin tone because pale skin was considered beautiful.

“Well, I was in Italy for two years, if you didn’t want me to get tanned, you should have sent me to Scandinavia or something,” Selene retorted, using a light tone, knowing she couldn’t speak back to her father.

“Oh stop it, I think she looks beautiful, tanned or not,” Her mother jumped in to avoid an argument, standing on her daughter's side.

“Was the stay productive at least? We paid a lot of money for it, I hope the training was good,” her father wondered.

“I think so, I learned lots of useful and interesting things,” Selene nodded.

“You have to tell us everything, let’s have dinner, I just finished it,” her mother pointed to the dining room. They usually had a chef cooking for them but Selene’s mother cooked occasionally too and now when her daughter was back home after so long, she wanted to make her favorite dish for her

Selene told them about her classes and courses and everything she’s learned. She even showed that he learned a bit of Italian while she was there, even though they all spoke in English in the center because it was international and she and her friends have had English classes since they were little so they were pretty much fluent. It was another important thing for their future since they were all marrying powerful men, it was expected that they’d accompany them occasionally on their travels, business meetings and dinners.

“We have a surprise for you, well, it’s not happening for a couple of months but I feel like this news is gonna make you happy,” Selene ’s mother smiled at her when they finished the dinner.

“Surprise? What is it?” Selene perked up.

“Once in every few years there is the event, let’s say party, where the leaders of all the packs meet to strengthen relationships, I am sure you know about that,” her father started. Selene nodded, she knew something like this was happening, she remembered her parents attending it a couple of times, it was usually held in a different city each time.

“We talked to the Blackwoods and we agreed that this is a perfect opportunity for yours and Tristan ’s official engagement,” the mother added.

“Really?!” Selene gasped, half in shock, half in excitement.

“Yes, we’d have to announce it anyway and this is the best opportunity since leaders of all packs will be there. This is a big thing that will somehow influence everyone in the country and even though your wedding won’t come in a couple more years, you are both now old enough for the official engagement, Tristan is turning Twenty one in two months,” her father explained.

Selene couldn’t believe it, she was officially going to get engaged to Tristan and it was going to happen in front of everyone, everyone will see that he is marrying the most in demand heir in the country.

“It will also send a message that you are both off the market so other packs won’t try to set you up with their heirs,” her mother said.

Well, Selene was more than fine with that, she was happy to be off market.

“It’s happening in October, this time in the capital, we will give you needed instructions when the time comes, I am sure your mother will see to all needed preparations, buy some attire with you and all that,” the alpha said.

“Of course,” his wife nodded.

“Oh my god, I am gonna get officially engaged with Tristan !” Selene shrieked, getting up from the table. She quickly composed herself, calming down, looking at her father sheepishly: “Can I go? I wanna call Amelia and Cassandra.”

“Go,” the man nodded curtly but as soon as Selene turned around and skipped away, cheering, she smiled. He might be a bit harsh on his daughter most of the time but he loved her and was happy to see her so happy. It was clear that the marriage wasn’t just a good business deal, he was happy that his daughter was actually going to marry someone he was interested in, that it wasn’t forced.

October came fast and Selene was counting days until the big even when she’d finally see Tristan, for the first time in two years.

Her mother got her brand new custom dark blue velvet dress with the neck up, nicely fitted in all the right places with a slightly sheer upper bodice . Her hair was longer now, allowing her to curl it slightly, creating a fluffy and rich look. Her mother also helped her with her make-up, putting just a tiny bit of eye shadow and blush on her cheeks, emphasizing her natural beauty.

She was slightly nervous because it was just her and her parents going to Blackwood. She’d feel better if she had her two best friends by her side but this was a meeting of only the leader's families.
