chapter 7

Some people believe that we create our own fate. But some also believe that our fate is already determined since the day that we're born. If I were to ask, I would rather believe that we create our own fate. In that way, I can control everything the way I wanted them to be.

"Daphne, hurry up! I think the game is starting!" I was confused about my brother.

His face was slow and grim as he followed me as I almost ran the distance from where I was to the gymnasium.

It was only here where we were that I could hear the cheering and screaming of those there so I was even more excited. If I had no one with me, I would have run there earlier.

He blinked. "Relax ate. He's not expecting you to watch him, anyway."

My blood boiled at what he said but I tried to calm myself. If I fight him now I might be the only one watching eventually. I even forced this one to accompany me. I don’t want to watch alone. Why is my bestfriend Brent really sick even now! Suddenly so I was not prepared who with me should be watching. My other classmates have already gone home because they still have requirements to do. I can do that later. I'm giving my time to this.

"Whatever you say," I glared at him back.

I held her wrist and pulled her so we can run. If I don't drag it, the game might end before we get there.

I heard a few more complaints from him as we ran before he quietly just drifted off my tow.

When I arrived at the entrance of the gym I was out of breath. The place is full of people and they are spitting on others. Even at the entrance there were also many people.

"Excuse me!"

"Excuse, excuse."

"Besides, what the heck!"

I was hysterical as I struggled to make my way to the gym because of the number of people standing and blocking the way, maybe there was no one to sit.

As I walked I glanced at the basketball court. I immediately smiled when I saw him. Wearing his white jersey, eyes seriously darted on the ring, hands alternately dribbling the ball, Aldrin Villacorta, the starplayer and MVP for years, in one swift motion, lie up in an attempt to shoot. Everyone shuddered when he scored three points. I also barely screamed.

Basketball is semi-finals and whichever team wins the finals will compete with other schools. The players are grouped based on their courses so even though I am a business ad student, my support is in the engineering department. Of course.

"Aldrin! Aldrin! Aldrin!"

"We love you, Aldrin!"

"Go, Aldrin!"

Simultaneous and loud chant of the crowd mostly women. Posters and tarpaulins with Aldrin's face or name have almost become gym decorations. I just frowned at the number of my rivals. After all, with his serious but good-looking face, massive built, ideal height and passion in academics, who wouldn't love Phillip Aldrin Villacorta of the engineering department? Apart from being handsome, he is also hardworking and smart (obviously he has a long way to go in life). In addition to his mysteriousness, almost all women have really challenged him and I am one of them.

But I'm the only one who likes him (which is definitely because of his greatness) because before I knew how famous, great and great he was in all fields I liked him before I knew him very well.

I clearly remember the time I started liking him.

"Happy birthday, Tito Jeffrey!" I cheerfully greeted as I gave my uncle my gift for him for his 40th birthday.

He is the eldest among the Villegas' brothers while my dad is the middle child. Their youngest, Uncle Jacson, is currently in another country for a seminar so he cannot attend.

He crouched a bit so that our faces would level. "Thank you, my dearest niece." Tito slightly ruffled my hair as he took the gift from me.

Among my two Titos on my father’s side, Tito Jeffrey is the closest to me and I think Daphne is the same. He never married which I was very surprised because he was as handsome as his siblings. Sometimes I just like that because he doesn't have spoiled children so he pays attention to his nephews.

"Tito, you're ruining my hair!" My complaint.

He laughed. "Oh come on, Thalia. Even if you look like you just woke up to come here to my party, it's okay so that the kids invited here won't notice you. Unless, you're making up so you're conscious?" His upturned eyes narrowed.

I immediately shook. "Of course none, Tito! I'm still young! I just want to look decent here!" My defense.

It's true, though. I'm now eleven years old but I never liked anyone yet. I don't know what's wrong with me. Is it still normal? I was only in grade four then and many of them showed interest in me and honestly, they were all good-looking and rich children as well. But not one of them, I did not hit! I didn’t even feel anything of what they were doing to me! Maybe I have high standards? Or is that really not in my mind yet? Instead, I still laugh at them because they can now say 'I love you'. Like, duh? Do they really mean what they say? They're too young like me! It's like saying those magical word
