Florence looks at her as she walks away, and she turns back to Salvatore.
“Excuse me.” She whispers and he nods, his hand sliding off her, grazing her ass as it falls away. She follows the woman into a secluded part of the mansion.
“What are you doing here?” She whispers and the woman turns to her, giving Florence a full view of her, she is not blonde after all, it was probably a wig, she is tall, and a brunette, only if that is her real hair.
“I sent you to kill him, instead, you made him marry you. Good job, you surprised me. Your sister is free, and my men are dead, splendid.” She claps and Florence scoffs.
“Don’t patronize me, what do you want?” She snaps and the woman chuckles at her bravery.
“You failed, and I am here to collect what I was owed. You were supposed to kill Salvatore Conti, not marry him, but you married him, and that is fine – you have attained a certain position that now gives you more access than ever. You will work for us, for my team and I, you will help us topple The Camorra Mob.” She announces and Florence shakes her head.
“Why will I do that? You have nothing on me. My sister is safe, I am safe, you can’t kill me, and if you do kill me, you will be killed before you escape. So, I will not help you betray my husband, and you can’t overthrow the Camorra Mob, it is impossible.” Florence proclaims and the woman looks at her.
“You have gotten comfortable, I see.” She states and Florence shrugs, she has not gotten comfortable and she is scared, but this woman does not have to know.
“I guess, I have.”
“Your so-called Husband is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Do you think he loves you? you really think he loves you or can ever love you, Salvatore Conti does not love anyone, he fucks though. Oh, I see you didn’t know – your darling husband sleeps around, he pays a lot of money to keep his doings a secret, but I am skilled. He is not a good person, he is cruel, manipulative and disgusting. You can leave but take him down.” The woman argues and Florence rolls her heart, hiding her pounding heart.
“Salvatore is my husband and I think you need to leave.”
“He killed your parents!” She yells and Florence freezes.
“What did you just say?” She whispers and suddenly, the woman pulls out a gun, but not at Florence, at something behind her, she looks back and sees Salvatore and Luca, with Luca gun drawn.
“Did you kill my parents?” Florence whispers looking at him and he locks his jaw.
“I am the Don, I have killed and will still kill a lot of people, so don’t flatter yourself.” He says, dismissively and she gasps at the pain that goes through her.
“Take her.” Luca orders and Florence frowns, her eyes widens as four men appear behind the woman and they knock her unconscious, then they take her away and all Florence can do is watch as the woman, whose name she still doesn’t know, is dragged away.
“I should go. Listen to your husband, Florence, he did not kill your parents, we didn’t even know who you were, we still don’t know who you truly are.” Luca says, calmly and Florence feel like she has been set on fire. He walks away, in the direction that the men went, and it was just Florence and her husband. She looks at him and all she can is her parents leaving one morning and not returning the next.
She exhales and walks away, her eyes are clouded with tears, she walk to their bedroom, and she slams the door behind her, but he comes in.
“Look at me, Florence.” He commands and she looks at him, tears streaming down her face, feeling the grief of losing her parents.
“I did not kill your parents, I didn’t, I would never do that. I am not a good man, I am a Criminal, the Don of Camorra, and I have killed a lot of people, but not your parents. What kind of man do you think I am? Do you really think I would kill your parents and still make you marry me? You are my wife, and Zara is my family now, if I hurt you, I hurt myself, my sister, my mother and my close friend, Luca. I swear on my father’s grave, I did not kill your parents.” He vows and she looks at him, blinking. He walks closer to her, and he wipes away her tears.
She exhales as he cups her face, and she tries to believe him, only one more thing to do.
__
An hour later, when Salvatore and Luca are mingling, when there is no one looking at her, Florence pulls out the drive the woman handed her, when she gave her a glass of wine. She wants to believe Salvatore, but she does not know him, and whatever is on the drive can either make or break them, and she is willing to take the risk. She walks to Zara’s bedroom, gets her laptop and inserts the drive into it. She frowns when she sees it is a video. She clicks on it and she watches as her husband murder her mother and father.
Florence gasps, choking on tears as she watches as he kills them brutally. He lied to her, he swore on his father’s grave and yet he lied to her, he looked her in the eyes, and he lied to her. She is filled with so much vengeance and anger, the woman was right – Salvatore is not a good person, he is pure filth, he killed her parents and yet, he made her marry him. She gets up, holding the flash drive firmly and she walks back to their bedroom, where she takes the knife in her purse, and walked out, beyond pissed.
Salvatore will pay, they will all pay, even the toughest foundation can crumble.
