Hello, everyone. This book will be getting massive updates from now on. I am done with my exams and can freely write now. Also, yesterday was my birthday and as a gift from me to you, I will drop five chapters today. Happy reading .
"What?!" Astrid yelled as she stood up with a force that slammed her chair to the ground.
Her parents were startled by her sudden outburst and wondered what made her react in such a way.
Her eyes flared with anger as she stared at her phone.
Ava quietly dropped her fork and focused on her daughter, curious and worried about her outburst at the same time.
"Is there something wrong?" She asked, her husband as well had a frown on his face as he patiently waited for his daughter to speak up.
Astrid looked up from her phone and softened her furious expression.
"It is a business venture that I have been aiming for. But I lost track and some other company is partnering with them,",she lied.
If she actually told them what was on her screen, her parents would storm a certain person's house and burn down the entire place.
She decided to handle the situation herself since it was about her.
"Oh, that is sad. Don't worry, more promising companies will start up in the future and you can partner with them. You have nothing to worry about. Besides, we believe in your ability to run any business that comes into your hands. Just like your father," Ava comforted her with good words and Astrid tried hard not to reveal her facade.
"Thank you, Mom. Excuse me, I will take this call," she said before walking towards the door.
Once she was far from the dining room, she called her secretary. "Nelson, I want you to take down every post concerning my divorce on the Internet. Pay whatever amount it is to make sure that everything disappears," she quietly instructed him.
"Yes, Boss," he replied before she ended the call.
She clenched her fist furiously as she thought of the person that would likely do such a thing to embarrass her.
*How dare he do such a thing after putting a wedge in our marriage?! He must be out of his mind!*
Astrid sparked as she knew that Rowan would be the one behind it.
She typed his name on her screen and went down to his direct message on messenger. Reading her past chats, she scoffed at how foolish she had been. He never replied to them, in fact he never accepted her request to be friends with him.
*What do you think you are doing?" She furiously typed since he wasn't going to reply. But it was a way she used to relieve stress.
*You arrogant bastard! Selfish ingrate! How the hell did I fall for you?! I must have been blind to see how horrible of a man you are! Stop prickling my skin you prick!* She texted then sighed when she had seen the cuss word she used on him, deleting it instantly.
However, her text didn't go unread because he replied.
*Noted.*
Astrid's eyes widened in surprise on seeing his text. He dropped another text that made her head spin.
*You are a coward, Astrid and forever will be a shadow to me.*
She dug her nails into her skin in anger and blocked him from her contact. He crossed the line this time around and she was going to make him pay for that.
But that was not the case, because Victoria was smiling Victoriously as she looked at the text she had sent to Astrid through Rowan's phone.
After putting Noah in bed, he glued himself to his phone and that got Victoria angry since he barely paid attention to her.
When she found out that he was pinning on the texts Astrid had sent him in the past, she grew extremely jealous and waited for him to fall asleep just to penetrate his phone.
Victoria was determined to win his attention back. She wanted him to go back to being obsessed with just to carry out her plan as soon as possible.
She began to roam her hands on his chest, undoing the buttons of his shirt at the same time. Rowan's eyes blazed open and centered on Victoria.
At first, he thought she was someone else but when his sight became clear, his mood darkened.
"What do you think you are doing?" He growled, smacking Victoria's hands away from his body.
"Rowan, Astrid is never going to come back to you. It is best you register that in your head than getting drowned by it. If she cared about you, she wouldn't have left."
"And you?" He coldly asked as he stared at her angrily.
"I came back after realizing my mistake. I know you hate me for doing such a thing but then, I had no choice because of your grandmother's pressure," she cunningly said, acting like the victim.
Rowan's eyes softened after hearing her words and pulled her closer to him. He searched her eyes for a hint of dishonesty and when he found none, he leaned in and kissed her.
He was going to use her to get over his feelings for Astrid. Victoria smiled within and crossed her legs over him maintaining a sitting position as they kissed.
She never thought it would be so easy to convince Rowan. But it still seemed to her that he was still infatuated with her like in the past. Knowing this made her feel accomplished as she would drain every last drop of his wealth.
"I want you, Rowan," she whispered in between their kiss, unbuttoning the rest of his shirt.
"Dear Victoria," he said once he broke away from her. "I don't go back to used things." He grabbed her neck, angrily choking her. "I can mess around with you but don't think you can come back to my life again. Get off me," he coldly commanded.
Victoria fell to the ground, holding her neck as tried to regain her breath. She had mistaken Rowan's kiss and paid for it. Now she knows that he would never change his mind about her and that calls for another tactic.
Rowan got up from the couch and disappeared into the corridor, leaving a bitter Victoria to suffer.
